There’s not much new to report. One beta reader is finished (and she loves my story!), and one is halfway finished. I haven’t worked on getting Vampires’ Curse ready for print since I was at the cabin. The frustration of the page numbers just overwhelmed me, so I’m still trying to decide whether or not to add the extra pages to make the chapters all start on the right side. Most people who commented on my blog post said they didn’t care where a chapter started.

All in all, I’m happy with where I am with my goals for this round. Except for exercise goals. Those are the ones that always suffer.

On an unrelated note, my cats are fine after their surgeries, just lying around a little more. Oz had this huge hernia removed, so he was a little worse than if he had just had the neutering. They both slept with me last night. 😉

What? It’s Wednesday already? How did that happen?

My WIP is coming right along. I might do a cover reveal tomorrow because my cover artist, Anya, is getting antsy, wanting to put it on her website. LOL. Yesterday, I wrote through the scene with the first challenge/riddle. I think it went okay, but I haven’t read back through it yet. I have two more challenges to go before they have to fight a creature. Then I’ll have to do a major action scene which always scares me, but which one of my beta readers says I do well. Action is hard for me to write, but my beta reader said she loved my action scenes in The Gnome, so I hope I can do okay in this book.

How about the rest of you? Are you plodding along? Moving quickly? Doing nothing? I want to know!

I was actually going to post about something else today, but then I realized it was the day for our ROW80 midweek check-in. I’ll do my other post tomorrow, I guess. 🙂

I had a a really kick butt word count on Monday (I’ll post actual numbers on Sunday). Last night, I wanted to write, but several things hindered me.

1. One problem was my hands. I’ve mentioned this before. My hands used to bother me a lot, but for the past few years, they have been much better. In the last few months, they’ve started hurting again, right in my thumb joint. I don’t know what has changed, but that Dragon software is looking better and better.

2. I needed to establish how much time it takes to get from point A to point B traveling at a certain amount of knots (this is on a ship), so I had to do some research. Luckily, I found the time frame I had already written in works fine. Whew! And I’m still stumped by the riddles I need for the challenges. I could write the scenes that come after the three challenges, but I’m a very linear writer, and I just CAN’T. It’s like reading a book out of order.

3. I also spent some time with my mom and her computer. If I don’t write early, I get too tired to write. But as much as my writing means to me, my mom is more important. She comes first. And she’s one of the biggest supporters of my writing, as well as one of the most awesome people I know. 🙂

I tried proofing Vampires’ Curse (I NEED to get this in print as soon as possible!) last night, and I got through a few pages, but I was trying to do it on the living room couch. There was a Big Bang Theory marathon on some channel that my husband was watching, and Sheldon just always creeps in when I’m trying to do something. He’s just so FUNNY, I can’t help but listen. The reason I’ve been writing/proofing in the living room is because the chair in my office is just too uncomfortable to sit in for long. I’m really needing a new chair, but I’m putting off spending the money. But I’m going to have to soon.

I totally forgot it was check in day! LOL.

I only wrote a little over 700 words on Monday because I was trying to figure out locations and riddles. I was doing RESEARCH. 🙂

Yesterday, I didn’t write at all. I came home all ready to make a nice dinner and dessert for hubby and me since he was actually working first shift this week (he’s usually on thirds). I got a text from a friend of mine saying one of her friend’s house had burned down and she needed clothing. I’m one of the few people who has a key to the church building and she needed access to our clothing room where we keep donated clothes that we give away. My first reaction was aggravation. I admit that. Hubby had to eat dinner alone, and I had to warm mine up later. And I knew I would be there awhile and probably wouldn’t get writing done. But then I started looking at things differently and was ashamed of my initial reaction. There would be other dinners with my husband. There would be other days to write. But here was someone whose house had burned down and was in need. What’s more important? My petty little aggravations or someone who needed my help? I’m almost in tears writing this. The gratitude shown by this lady in need was worth every minute I lost. And what did I lose, really? What’s important in life? The things you do or the things you DO? Does that make sense? I sit here feeling humble and blessed. I sit here annoyed at my “almost” selfishness. I sit here thankful that I did the right thing. I couldn’t have asked for a better night.

I’m a little late with my check in today. I usually try to do it before church and then take care of my sponsor duties in the afternoon, but I just ran out of time this morning. I always make a good breakfast on Sunday mornings, and I got way behind. LOL

My goal is to write about an hour (or until my hands give out) five days a week. I was plagued by the dreaded headache on Friday, even going home from work early, and Saturday I still had the headache plus I had to help my mom with her computer that decided not to boot up properly. Grrrrr. Anyway, on the three days I did write, my word counts were good. Mon-1875, Tues-1281, Thurs-1532. I timed myself on Thursday to see how long it was actually taking me to write. I wrote during my lunch hour, and I had to eat, so I knew I wouldn’t have a whole hour to write. I always read the last chapter I wrote the time before first so I can get my head back into the story, and that took five minutes. So, basically, I wrote over 1500 words in about 40 minutes. I thought I could only write about a thousand words an hour, but it had seemed lately I had written more. Apparently, I’m getting faster. Who knows if that will continue, but I’ll take it for now. 🙂

I’m trying to get back into sewing. I was lucky to spend time with the lovely Susan Bischoff last Saturday, and she was able to help me pick out patterns and material. My plans were to write and sew (or at least cut out the pattern!) Saturday, but with my oldest son and his wife coming into town for lunch, then my mom’s computer problems, AND my headache I didn’t get to do either. I want this skirt and blouse, darn it! My biggest goal for this week is to BE MORE EFFICIENT AND GET STUFF DONE.

Just a quick check in before I go to church. 🙂

Word count last week was: Mon-2129, Thurs-1928, Fri-911. I didn’t write as many days as I would have liked last week. Stuff just happened that got in the way, but at least it wasn’t that whiny “I don’t feel like writing” that was happening to me last round. Besides, my word counts are so much higher than they used to be, I’m still writing more per week even when I only write three days.

Exercise was so-so last week. Eating…also iffy, but not bad.

Proofing for print on Vampires’ Curse didn’t happen. There was a lot going on last week, but, hopefully, this week will be calmer. I’m also trying to use my time more wisely.

Good Sunday morning everyone!

1. Writing has gone well this week. I don’t know why I end up not writing on Fridays. Wednesday and Sunday are supposed to be my days off from writing, but with the word counts going so well on the four days I am writing, I’m not upset about Fridays. If my husband has rented a movie and wants to watch it, them I’m going to watch it with him. Anyway, here’s the breakdown. Mon-939, Tues-1205, Thurs-1936, Sat-2175.

2. Exercise is going pretty well. I walked at lunch three days this week. I want to bump that up a lot, but rain, and before that, hot weather, has been hindering me. I need to get on the treadmill when I can’t walk outside, but I just seem to forget that when I get home. *shrugs*

3. Eating habits are getting a little better every day. This one is going to take time to get right.

4. The proofing of Vampires’ Curse for print didn’t get done last week liked I had planned, but I hope to get that finished this week.

Since I report the week’s word count on Sundays, I’m not going to list the last two days here. But I will say that I’m kicking word count butt. 🙂 My story is coming together.

I’m still working on proofing Vampires’ Curse for print.

Exercise is going well again. Anya and I walked during lunch the last two days, and as I reported on Sunday, I walked 45 minutes on the treadmill. Soon, I hope to be back to riding my bike. We’ve been having evening storms (we really need the rain!) so there’s been no outside activities after work.

I still need to work on my eating habits. I’m getting better, but I still need to tone down my portions a little more.

It’s been an interesting week. The heat continues to assault us here in East Tennessee. We will get some relief, I think, starting Sunday or Monday. The kittens are growing and actually aren’t getting into trouble in the house as much as they used to. Writing is going VERY well. Life is good. Here are some things relating to my goals.

1. Writing: Even though I don’t set word counts, but time goals, I like to keep up with word count. Mon-874, Tues-1464, Wed-91, Thurs-1474, Fri-0, Sat-2588. Look at that Saturday count! I don’t know if I’ve ever written that much at one time, but I was really loving my scenes!

2. Proofing: The proofing of Vampires’ Curse for print is going slow and steady. It should be ready by the end of the week.

3. Health: Exercise has been a no go all week, except for Saturday. It’s been too hot (I don’t even want to be outside when it’s over 100 degrees) to walk or bike, and I just haven’t gotten on the treadmill, except for about 45 minutes on Saturday. But, hey, that’s a little exercise. Also, my whole “quality instead of quantity” eating style is going pretty well. I’ve decided that eating less is better than depriving myself of good, tasty food, so that’s going to be my philosophy unless it stops working for me. I’ll keep you updated on that.

Hey, it’s the Fourth of July! Which makes me wonder if anyone will even be sitting at their computer reading this. LOL

What I’ve done toward my goals this week:

1. Word count: Mon-874, Tues-1,464. Although my goals are time, not words, I still keep up with word count. I can’t help myself. But I’ve found that when I started setting aside a time instead of shooting for a certain number of words, I actually end up writing MORE words.

2. I’ve proofed the first novella in the Libby Fox trilogy. Only two more to go, and the collection will be ready to format for print. I can’t BELIEVE how many times I used the word “that”. I know I don’t do it much anymore, but I must have “reformed” after writing the first in the trilogy. LOL

3. Exercise – not so much. I was doing well until it got so hot. It’s starting to cool down just a bit…mid 90’s…so I’ll probably go back to walking and riding my back on Thursday.
