Just a quick check in before I go to church. 🙂
Word count last week was: Mon-2129, Thurs-1928, Fri-911. I didn’t write as many days as I would have liked last week. Stuff just happened that got in the way, but at least it wasn’t that whiny “I don’t feel like writing” that was happening to me last round. Besides, my word counts are so much higher than they used to be, I’m still writing more per week even when I only write three days.
Exercise was so-so last week. Eating…also iffy, but not bad.
Proofing for print on Vampires’ Curse didn’t happen. There was a lot going on last week, but, hopefully, this week will be calmer. I’m also trying to use my time more wisely.
I hope everyone is having a great day!
I never really thought about it, but there really is a distinction between just plain not being able to write, and that whiny “I don’t want to” feeling! I don’t know exactly how this will translate into my writing, but I have the feeling it can only help. Congrats on the word count too- you are really cooking on that front! What’s your secret? 🙂
There is definitely a difference, Vicki. Although, most of the time when I felt like I “couldn’t” write, it’s been more of an “I’m too lazy”. That’s just me, I’m not speaking for anyone else. I know sometimes there’s just this block or maybe you just don’t know what you want to happen next in your writing. As far as word count…I just stopped putting pressure on myself to get a certain word count. I just sat down at the computer for awhile, and if I wrote, great, if I just stared at the screen, I was still going to sit there. But I found, without the pressure, I really wanted to write. I stopped thinking of it as a chore and started thinking of it as fun. Who can have a better job than making up stuff for a living? I think I just changed my whole way of thinking about it.
Really great word counts! I’m glad you’re finding that time goals are working for you. I guess it’s ok if writing is hard sometimes, but you should at least enjoy it, and it seems you have found a way that keeps you motivated. Hope you have a wonderful week!
Thanks, Lauren! 🙂 There for a while, writing was starting to be a chore for me. I was putting too much pressure on myself. Now it’s fun.
It happens. I spend a week out of town and didn’t get ANY words in! The funny thing was, I missed writing and can’t wait to get back to work!
That’s a great attitude! If you missed it and can’t wait to get back, then it’s still fun for you. 🙂
Words count envy! Good work this week! I agree with Lauralynn. If you miss a week of writing and you can’t wait to get back, then you’re in a good place.
Thanks, Kathrese, word count is going well. Just learning to relax can really help. 🙂
It looks like focusing on time instead of word count has worked great for you! That’s awesome!
When I stopped worrying about word count, I felt so liberated! 🙂
