Hey, it’s the Fourth of July! Which makes me wonder if anyone will even be sitting at their computer reading this. LOL
What I’ve done toward my goals this week:
1. Word count: Mon-874, Tues-1,464. Although my goals are time, not words, I still keep up with word count. I can’t help myself. But I’ve found that when I started setting aside a time instead of shooting for a certain number of words, I actually end up writing MORE words.
2. I’ve proofed the first novella in the Libby Fox trilogy. Only two more to go, and the collection will be ready to format for print. I can’t BELIEVE how many times I used the word “that”. I know I don’t do it much anymore, but I must have “reformed” after writing the first in the trilogy. LOL
3. Exercise – not so much. I was doing well until it got so hot. It’s starting to cool down just a bit…mid 90’s…so I’ll probably go back to walking and riding my back on Thursday.
Well, I am here. 🙂
Your word counts are similar to mine, just switch the days. 🙂 I’ve set aside time as well, but I still track my words. Otherwise I’d probably sit and stare at the screen for an hour every day. 🙂 It’s not as hot here, and I still haven’t been exercising. Unless you count chasing around a 22 month old. 🙂
And yes I used a lot of smiley faces in this comment. I’m in a goofy mood this morning. Hope you have a great fourth!
I feel so much better about my word counts now. I was really slacking in Round Two! I track words, but don’t shoot for a word count. It still amazes me that my word count is higher doing it this way. 🙂 And chasing a 22 month old is definitely exercise.
I love smiley faces. I love smiley people. 🙂
Happy 4th!
Well the cover is ready for your Libby trilogy print format when you are. 😉
It has been hot hasn’t it? I miss the walking with you so hopefully with the temps going down we can pick that back up. Don’t want to get out of the habit or we might not keep doing it!
I think your time goals are working well for you too. Keep up the good work! Looking forward to more reading!
Cool about the cover! All you need is a page count when I get that, right?
Whew, has it ever been hot! I can’t believe we had temps around 105 for a few days. I hope that’s over for the summer, but it’s still early, so…. And yeah, I want to get back to walking with you and riding with Jan. 🙂
I hope I keep my momentum. I want to get this WIP finished!
See — no prob! It’s a holiday (yes, I know only in the U.S.) so I’m not rushing to work. 🙂
Great job on your goals so far. It’s only been two days. lol. I hope you’re able to get some exercise in this next week. Heat waves, storms…it’s been downright strange. We’re just getting rain. Surprise, surprise. 🙂
My husband wanted to do something today, but I have a migraine, so I really just want to stay home and do some writing. Probably not a lot unless my pain eases up a bit. I actually love being at home anyway. 🙂
I feel like I’m really kicking butt with my WIP right now. I hope it continues. And I plan on getting back to walking, even if I have to use the treadmill. At least I can watch Netflix on my iPad now, so the treadmill won’t be quite so boring. I just can’t believe the heat we’re having. We need rain badly…wish you could send us some!
I like the idea of setting up a time goal instead of a word goal. That’s a good idea! 🙂
The time goal has really helped me. I decided even if I sat there for an hour writing nothing, I was going to sit there. Luckily, so far, I’ve written instead of just staring at the screen. LOL
I’m the same way, and it took me too many rounds to figure it out. I now set a timer and commit to time. Guess what, like you, the words come. Great job so far in Round 3. Wishing you many more words and great momentum.
Thanks, Tia. Isn’t it great when you find a way of doing something that works better? 🙂
I’ve been doing the time thing from time to time, and it’s been a pretty nice break. 😀
Exercise is part of writing. When I go for a walk, I do a lot better with writing. I think exercise opens us up to creative thinking.
Writing for a set amount of time is really paying off for me. I’m less obsessive about writing a certain amount of words, yet I end up writing more.
I believe a healthy body is one of the ways to a healthy mind. It makes me much more alert, and my brain seems to work better. Plus, when I feel good, I have so much more energy to do what needs to be done, including writing.
