It’s been an interesting week. The heat continues to assault us here in East Tennessee. We will get some relief, I think, starting Sunday or Monday. The kittens are growing and actually aren’t getting into trouble in the house as much as they used to. Writing is going VERY well. Life is good. Here are some things relating to my goals.
1. Writing: Even though I don’t set word counts, but time goals, I like to keep up with word count. Mon-874, Tues-1464, Wed-91, Thurs-1474, Fri-0, Sat-2588. Look at that Saturday count! I don’t know if I’ve ever written that much at one time, but I was really loving my scenes!
2. Proofing: The proofing of Vampires’ Curse for print is going slow and steady. It should be ready by the end of the week.
3. Health: Exercise has been a no go all week, except for Saturday. It’s been too hot (I don’t even want to be outside when it’s over 100 degrees) to walk or bike, and I just haven’t gotten on the treadmill, except for about 45 minutes on Saturday. But, hey, that’s a little exercise. Also, my whole “quality instead of quantity” eating style is going pretty well. I’ve decided that eating less is better than depriving myself of good, tasty food, so that’s going to be my philosophy unless it stops working for me. I’ll keep you updated on that.
So, how are things going for the rest of you? Are you working diligently toward your goals? Let me know. I’m here for you if you ever need me!
There must have been smoke flying from your keyboard on Saturday. Great job on your word count! You would have been proud of me today, I tried walking and reading on the treadmill. I can’t say it was easy (words bouncing around and all), but I think it’s doable for 30 min. a few times a week. Do you listen to music or read when you’re on your treadmill?
I felt so productive Saturday! I just kept writing and writing…. LOL
I can read on the treadmill, but I use a Kindle, and I think it’s easier than reading a print book. Plus, I walk pretty smoothly, so there’s not a lot of bouncing. It takes practice. LOL. And, the place on the treadmill that holds your book (or whatever you’re using) is pretty stable. Actually, I prefer to watch Netflix shows on my iPad while walking. I was watching Kolchak: Night Stalker. I’m probably going to post a little more about that tomorrow. I love the show!
Those are some great numbers. You should be proud. Especially Saturday… Wow!
I’ve been a bit lower, but managed my 750 a day every day, plus a short story. I can’t get into the flow on this novel like I could the Highway two.
It has been really muggy here in Holland too, not a nice heat at all. The nights have been the worst. Hope it breaks for you soon.
Thanks, Alex! I think 750 a day is a good number. I use to shoot for 500 a day, but since I’m using time goals, I’m doing a lot more.
Our days have been much worse than our nights. When it’s over 100, it feels like your skin is burning when you step outside. We had a really bad windstorm a couple of days ago, and some people were left without power for two or three days. My friend and cover artist, Anya, was without power for a couple of days, and she was at home sweating without air conditioning. Luckily, her power came back on yesterday. This heat has been awful.
I hide out inside too when the temps get above 100…which has pretty much been since Memorial Day, LOL. News keeps promising us a 120 day but thankfully we haven’t hit it yet.
Overall, it looks like a great week. And the wordage…awesome. Have a fabulous week Lauralyn 🙂
Oh, how I loathe this heat! 😦 120??? Are you kidding? I don’t see how anyone could even go outside!
I’m pretty pleased with my words. I hope the momentum continues!
I can’t even imagine what that kind of heat feels like! Hope the animals are doing okay.
You flew through the words this week, well done. 😀
You don’t want to feel this heat, Claire. But I also dislike cold weather, so I guess I just need moderate temperatures. The older I get, the less I can tolerate extremes. LOL
Thanks, the words came easily this past week. I hope I can keep it up,
Fantastic word counts, Lauralynn! I need a few big writing days myself. The heat has been oppressive here also! Yesterday, I spent the day at the lake with family and friends. It’s the only way to beat this heat! My poor flowers are taking a beating. I water and water, but they sag and wilt, only perking up in the evening.
Today, I’ve the house to myself. Hubby and boys are camping…and oldest son is at work (he’s landed himself a job! ) Big numbers, Big numbers….that’s the goal, anyhoo…:} Keep cool and enjoy the summer while it lasts!
I find that eating healthy is easier in the warm weather…I don’t have the same appetite. Vegetables sound wonderful…light, not too heavy. A salad satisfies. Winter, however, I crave those heavy meals. Oy! Exercise is tough when it’s so hot. It’s too easy to become overheated. How are your pets taking the heat. My poor shepherd does not like the heat…he’s more of a winter loving dog! We hose him down to cool him off – but he smells terribly while wet! Poor thing. Ha.
Oh, what a perfect time to write…when everyone’s gone. I finally cleaned up my desk in my office and went in there to write last night.
My rose bushes look horrible. They don’t like this kind of heat, especially with no rain. But last night it poured, and today shouldn’t even get into the 90’s, so there’s some much needed relief.
I have a friend who isn’t as hungry in the summer, but it doesn’t do anything to my appetite. And I really don’t like vegetables anyway. Except onions. I love onions! And starchy vegetables. I do like salads, but I’m really picky about lettuce. It has to be tasty and not the least wilted. I’m REALLY picky about dressing. I don’t usually like bottled dressings, I like to make my own. I prefer restaurants that make their own dressings, like Outback does. And it’s beginning to sound like I’m rambling….
