It looks like the release date of Soul of a Vampire is going to have to be delayed. I had forgotten about our revival, so going to church every night made editing impossible. Also, I agreed to beta read, so I felt like I should get that done first. She’s always quick to get mine done. Not to mention that I’m REALLY enjoying the story! 🙂 I’m taking my laptop with me to Tallahassee in the morning, so hopefully I can get some things done while I’m gone this weekend. I’m taking Anya with me and we’re manning a booth, hopefully selling products from my day job. Something funny…one time I was at one of these shows, and we were so idle at our booth, that I wrote almost the entire short story, The Beast in the Mirror. So I MIGHT actually do some stuff while I’m sitting idly twiddling my thumbs working.

Have any of you that use Google Chrome for your browser had any problems with PubIt? I tried to log on to check my sales last night, and the login button wouldn’t work. I thought it must be a glitch. I tried again this evening with the same results. On a whim, I went to Internet Explorer and tried from that browser. No problems! Has PubIt decided it doesn’t like Chrome? I hate it when a site only works with certain browsers!

What do you mean, it’s October? LOL Where does the time go? I’m loving our fall weather after so much HEAT this summer. So here’s what’s going on:

Writing: I’m still in the midst of editing Soul of a Vampire. My hopeful publishing date was Oct. 4, but I had completely forgotten about our revival at church. Plus, I’ll be in Tallahassee Fri-Sun for a work trip. If I can swing it, I might get it done by the 4th (isn’t that tomorrow?), but we’ll see. Also, I haven’t started on my next WIP yet because of the aforementioned revival. I will probably start on Thursday.

Health: I’ve been faithful in my workouts so far. I’m very, very sore. I’m still working on the eating habits, but I did leave about a third of my lunch on my plate Monday. So that’s progress.

How are the rest of you doing?

Well, it’s almost time to go. Although I do miss hubby and the animals, I’m sad to leave this beautiful place. I won’t miss Mr. Roach, though. Nor will I miss his little brother who I found resting on my pillow before I went to bed last night. I slept with the light on again. 🙂 It’s been a good trip. I finally got Soul of a Vampire ready for beta readers. I tried to get Vampires’ Curse ready for print, but I’m still having trouble with page numbers. When I finally get one problem fixed, another one crops up. I finally got the numbers right. But then when I added the blank pages needed to make sure all the chapters start on an odd number, those pages had the page numbers and headers on them, even though I started them in different sections. I’m tempted to leave those blank pages out. I’ve noticed some traditionally published books aren’t staring all chapters on odd numbered pages anymore. And I think one of them was a Stephen King. I wonder if that even matters anymore. I think it looks better, but why beat myself up over it when big publishing houses don’t all do it anymore. What to do….

I’m a little over halfway through edits on Soul of a Vampire. Then it will be on to the beta readers/editors. It’s funny how when you write a book, you do it a little at a time, then when you start the read through for editing, you find little plot holes and things you didn’t mention that you should have. I realized I didn’t mention the last names of two of my characters, and didn’t mention the name or much about the town in which the story is set. LOL.

It feels like fall is in the air today. After such a HOT summer, the high today is only 78 degrees. It’s not supposed to get higher than mid-80’s for the next week. Yay! No 90 degree weather…at least for awhile. 🙂

I need to get back to cooking! Since we got back from Gatlinburg, I haven’t cooked anything. 😦

How are you guys doing?

Wednesday Update

I don’t have a lot to report. I’m letting my WIP sit for a few days after finishing, and I plan on starting the editing process tomorrow. I usually don’t have a lot to edit because I do a lot of editing along the way. But when I do the final read through, I always find things to change or add. I rarely find anything I want to take out. Since I’ve been at this writing thing awhile, my first drafts are much cleaner.

On a weird note. You know how Amazon sends you those emails suggesting certain books to read based on other things you’ve bought from them? Amazon sent me an email today suggesting two of my own books to me! That’s never happened before, and I thought it was kind of funny. Hmmm, I wonder if that means they suggested those two books to other customers….

I finished edits and proofing on the gnome story. The only real problem I have now is making that last fight scene between the witches longer. Anya says it’s too short, and I agree with her. I checked to make sure I didn’t describe the characters’ eating too much since Susan says that’s a no no. It’s a problem for me because I love to describe the food. And I love it when other authors describe what people are eating. Unfortunately, I’m in the minority. In fact, I’ve had a couple of readers complain that I did it too much in other books. There is one scene in the gnome book that describes the pizza and how much they like it, but that has to be done in order for them to get tickled about it and start laughing. It enhances the budding attraction between the two characters.

As soon as I get that last fight scene figured out, the book will go to three beta readers (one has already read it as it was written). When they finish, if there aren’t too many changes suggested, it will be almost ready for publishing. I was hoping to have this done before the beginning of Round Two, but it didn’t happen. And two of the betas might take a little longer since they are involved in their own ROW80 projects. But I can be working on my ROW80 project while I’m waiting, so I’m not going to hurry anyone. I’ll just be glad to get that scene done and the story finally finished. This one took a lot out of me. Whew!

ROW80 Check In

I almost didn’t check in today. I’ve been so busy with my full time job, and I’m just exhausted. I just finished doing some work (I can clock in and out from home and also access my work computer), and after church tonight, I’ll have more to do. So there won’t be much time for writing. I’m hoping this will only last a couple more weeks and I’ll be free to, you know, breathe. Anyway, there’s not much to report. I’m still waiting on the cover for the Libby Fox trilogy. That should be almost done. I’m interested to see if it will sell better or worse than the individual novellas, so this is kind of an experiment. I was going to do the trilogy together in print eventually anyway. I’m just not understanding why my back list still sells better than the newer Libby Fox books. There are vampires and werewolves….

I’m still in the editing process for the gnome story. This will be the first time I’ve ever written something that was not ready for publication at the end of an ROW80 round (except for this same story last year, LOL). I hope it’s not jinxed. I could probably get it edited and proofed in time, but I want to send it to my beta readers and get their opinions before I do anything. But, I can still work on something new for the next round while I’m waiting on betas, right? 🙂

Exercise is tanking because I’m just spending all my time doing other stuff. I really need to make myself a schedule so that exercise doesn’t fall behind. I think I exercised one day last week. Not acceptable!

How are the rest of you doing? Is anyone as busy as me and wishing they could write full time?

I finished the first round of editing last night for my novella (I had a title, but I found at least three other books with that title, so I’m not sure I’ll use it), and as soon as I have it fixed on the computer, I’ll send to another beta reader. I found a big plot problem. My vampire was awake during the day in one scene. LOL. That was easy to fix. I’m slowing getting Starfane ready for print, but publishing the novella for E is first on my list. At some point, I need to do edits for Jonathan Eli on Kat’s Decision.

Right now I should be at church, but I have a migraine, so I’m lounging around at home.

How has everyone else’s week gone?

I just wanted to pop in quickly and say hi to everyone. Right after church, I’m heading for the airport and on to Chicago for a few days.

There’s really not much to report. After I finished my novella, which is the second in a series, I sent it off to the first beta reader…the one I always send to before it’s been proofed. LOL. Anyway, I’m not doing any editing yet because she’s printed it out and has marked some things. I figured I might as well proof from that same printed copy.

I’ll try to touch base with everyone from my hotel room Sunday night. Hope everyone is doing well!

Yes, I’m a day late again. I seem to be late every Wednesday lately. LOL.

I got another chapter edited on Dark Relic: Vampires’ Curse. But I’m way behind on my projected release date. I’m glad I didn’t make an announcement. Some of my other author friends have taught me not to do that. :0)

I’m about ready to submit The Last Cabbandeum to CreateSpace for Jonathan Eli. I’m waiting on Jonathan to tell me for sure what he wants on the back cover so Anya Kelleye can get that done. I have a little tweaking to do on the inside, but that’s a one night job.

I’m a little frustrated with my editing situation, but I was out of town for four days and this week we have VBS. Yes, I’m teaching the little first and second graders. Scary, isn’t it?
