I’m sitting here a little disappointed because the first 50 people who register for the RNConvention get to have a special VIP brunch with Jimmy Thomas and some other hunks. Anya and I were all set to start registering as soon as it opened at 3:00 PM on Saturday. But they changed it to tonight, at the same time church starts. Bleh. Anyway…onward.

Formatting for Print

After fighting so long with page numbers on the print version of Vampires’ Curse, I finally got it to work! So while it was still in my mind how to do it, I went ahead and formatted Soul of a Vampire. So I’ll be publishing both of them on CreateSpace pretty close together. Anya has to work on the print cover of SoaV first. She pretty much has VC done…she was just waiting on me to tell her how many pages it was going to be.

Writing

I finally started on the book I’m co-writing with my husband. Right off the bat, we disagreed on something. He wanted more description about the MC’s feelings before he has an accident. I think I started it right and that it doesn’t need anything else. So I stopped writing if for a little while. Then I picked it back up and didn’t change anything. I can always add more later if hubby still feels like it needs more. I ended up writing 560 words, but I would have liked it to be more.

Health

I’ve been faithful to my workouts, going to the gym 3-4 days a week. But I need to add cardio. I’m going to order some Chaco running/walking shoes because since I’ve been wearing my Chaco sandals, no shoe feels good on my feet anymore, even my Tone-Ups. When I walk on the treadmill at home, I could wear my sandals, I guess. But at the gym, they expect you to wear appropriate shoes. Since I found an extra $112 I didn’t know I had, I can buy those shoes. 🙂

There’s not a lot of writing stuff going on right now. I’ve had a lot of OTHER stuff going on. The biggest thing on my plate was the banquet, with entertainment, that we did at our church for our “over 65” members. We did a Hee Haw skit which turned out hilarious. I’m glad that’s finally off my plate. Hopefully, I can get started on my new book this week.

I hope I can finish the last few things that need doing on Soul of a Vampire tonight. Maybe I can upload it for publication tonight. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

I skipped a couple of workouts last week, so I only got in two. I just had too much other stuff to do during lunch those other two days. Back on track next week!

What do you mean, it’s October? LOL Where does the time go? I’m loving our fall weather after so much HEAT this summer. So here’s what’s going on:

Writing: I’m still in the midst of editing Soul of a Vampire. My hopeful publishing date was Oct. 4, but I had completely forgotten about our revival at church. Plus, I’ll be in Tallahassee Fri-Sun for a work trip. If I can swing it, I might get it done by the 4th (isn’t that tomorrow?), but we’ll see. Also, I haven’t started on my next WIP yet because of the aforementioned revival. I will probably start on Thursday.

Health: I’ve been faithful in my workouts so far. I’m very, very sore. I’m still working on the eating habits, but I did leave about a third of my lunch on my plate Monday. So that’s progress.

How are the rest of you doing?

It seems like forever since I’ve had to state goals. I did well last round on writing goals, but not on health goals. Why are those so hard? You might wonder why some of us state health goals in a writing situation. Here’s why. The healthier you are, the more you feel like doing things. Your brain works better. So you can see how that would be beneficial to authors, right?

Anyway, to the goals. I’ve decided I’m going to go ahead and write the book my husband thought of. It’s an awesome story if I can just do it justice. The cover is already pretty much made for it, so that’s good inspiration. My husband didn’t really want it to have romance in it, but I told him if he wanted me to write it, then it WOULD have romance in it. The goal for writing that book is to sit down at the computer an hour a day, five days a week. No word count goals, although I do keep up with those anyway. I just don’t set a goal for them. My goal is the hour. If I do more, then that’s even better.

My health goal is to work out at the gym 3-4 days a week, depending on what time I have. Another goal pertaining to this is to eat less. No fries if I want a burger. Two slices of pizza instead of four. Have a few vegetarian days a month. Eat half of my food at restaurants and take the rest home for another meal. Those little changes that add up. I might add the goal of eating healthier food later, but right now, this is all I can handle.

The last goal is to not beat myself up when I stumble on the above goals.

I finally did it…again. I really like working out on machines, but the last gym where I was a member just got too crowded. I was having to wait on machines all the time. The employees were SO pushy. And they seemed to think they were too beautiful to bother themselves with the rest of us. Yeah, that’s the feeling I got from them. I was locked in for either 2 or 3 years (don’t remember which), and it was about $40 or $50 a month. And the location wasn’t convenient at all.

So on to this new gym. And it IS new to our town. It’s called Workout Anytime. The hours when they aren’t staffed, you just slide your card to gain access. It’s much smaller than the other place I was going. I went to sign up during my lunch hour yesterday, and it wasn’t crowded at all. And the guy who signed me up wasn’t pushy, just down to earth and friendly. The machines look like good quality, and of course they are new right now. The best thing? There is NO CONTRACT. That’s right, no contract. And only $15 a month!!! Yay! What’s the downside?

So I’m going to try this and see if I can figure out a good time to work out. I was going to go at lunch, but I realized I already have lunch obligations two days a week, which only leaves me three weekdays. So I think I’m going to try going before work. I don’t plan to do my cardio there…I’m perfectly happy with my treadmill at home. So I could work out with weights for 20 minutes. Weight training rarely makes me sweat. So if I leave home about 30 minutes early, I can work out for 20 minutes, then drive 10 more minutes to work. I would probably change clothes at work instead of at the gym. And if everything goes well, I’ll probably eventually leave earlier and workout a little longer. We’ll see how it all works. I’m really excited. *happy dance*

Nothing earth shattering has happened since Sunday. LOL. Good word counts the past couple of days. No exercise…my walking partner is on vacation…I’ve been a slacker. I haven’t felt very well, either, but I suspect exercise would make me feel BETTER. Silly me for not doing it.

I’m 2/3 through proofing Vampires’ Curse for print. A word about that. If it were just for my benefit, I’m not sure I would even put anything in print, although it’s nice to hold my book in my hands. But there are still readers out there who want a print book. It’s for them that I do this. It would be free if I didn’t want expanded distribution, but I pay $25 to do that. However, I make only about 50-75 cents per book when bookstores (other than Amazon) or libraries buy it (versus about $2.75 if readers buy it from Amazon). Is it worth it? I haven’t yet decided. I hate to limit where readers can buy my books, but it will take a long time, if ever, to make up that $25. It seems I spend a lot of time and money sometimes doing things to benefit other people. But…I sort of feel like that’s one reason we’re put on this planet. What do the rest of you think? Should I stop paying for expanded distribution? What would you do? It’s free to distribute to Amazon, since Amazon owns CreateSpace. But I have almost as many sales from the expanded distribution venues. I can’t decide what to do with this latest print book.

Just a quick check in before I go to church. 🙂

Word count last week was: Mon-2129, Thurs-1928, Fri-911. I didn’t write as many days as I would have liked last week. Stuff just happened that got in the way, but at least it wasn’t that whiny “I don’t feel like writing” that was happening to me last round. Besides, my word counts are so much higher than they used to be, I’m still writing more per week even when I only write three days.

Exercise was so-so last week. Eating…also iffy, but not bad.

Proofing for print on Vampires’ Curse didn’t happen. There was a lot going on last week, but, hopefully, this week will be calmer. I’m also trying to use my time more wisely.

I hope everyone is having a great day!

Good Sunday morning everyone!

1. Writing has gone well this week. I don’t know why I end up not writing on Fridays. Wednesday and Sunday are supposed to be my days off from writing, but with the word counts going so well on the four days I am writing, I’m not upset about Fridays. If my husband has rented a movie and wants to watch it, them I’m going to watch it with him. Anyway, here’s the breakdown. Mon-939, Tues-1205, Thurs-1936, Sat-2175.

2. Exercise is going pretty well. I walked at lunch three days this week. I want to bump that up a lot, but rain, and before that, hot weather, has been hindering me. I need to get on the treadmill when I can’t walk outside, but I just seem to forget that when I get home. *shrugs*

3. Eating habits are getting a little better every day. This one is going to take time to get right.

4. The proofing of Vampires’ Curse for print didn’t get done last week liked I had planned, but I hope to get that finished this week.

How’s everyone else?

Since I report the week’s word count on Sundays, I’m not going to list the last two days here. But I will say that I’m kicking word count butt. 🙂 My story is coming together.

I’m still working on proofing Vampires’ Curse for print.

Exercise is going well again. Anya and I walked during lunch the last two days, and as I reported on Sunday, I walked 45 minutes on the treadmill. Soon, I hope to be back to riding my bike. We’ve been having evening storms (we really need the rain!) so there’s been no outside activities after work.

I still need to work on my eating habits. I’m getting better, but I still need to tone down my portions a little more.

How is everyone else doing?

It’s been an interesting week. The heat continues to assault us here in East Tennessee. We will get some relief, I think, starting Sunday or Monday. The kittens are growing and actually aren’t getting into trouble in the house as much as they used to. Writing is going VERY well. Life is good. Here are some things relating to my goals.

1. Writing: Even though I don’t set word counts, but time goals, I like to keep up with word count. Mon-874, Tues-1464, Wed-91, Thurs-1474, Fri-0, Sat-2588. Look at that Saturday count! I don’t know if I’ve ever written that much at one time, but I was really loving my scenes!

2. Proofing: The proofing of Vampires’ Curse for print is going slow and steady. It should be ready by the end of the week.

3. Health: Exercise has been a no go all week, except for Saturday. It’s been too hot (I don’t even want to be outside when it’s over 100 degrees) to walk or bike, and I just haven’t gotten on the treadmill, except for about 45 minutes on Saturday. But, hey, that’s a little exercise. Also, my whole “quality instead of quantity” eating style is going pretty well. I’ve decided that eating less is better than depriving myself of good, tasty food, so that’s going to be my philosophy unless it stops working for me. I’ll keep you updated on that.

So, how are things going for the rest of you? Are you working diligently toward your goals? Let me know. I’m here for you if you ever need me!
