Monday night I got the three Libby Fox novellas combined together into one book. I’m going to price this at $2.99, which is less expensive than buying the three separately (which would be $4.97). All I’m waiting on is a book cover and a title. I’m racking my brain for a good title for this trilogy. I could just call it the Libby Fox Trilogy, but that doesn’t really tell anything about the book if you don’t know who Libby Fox is. The three novella titles are Dark Relic: Vampires’ Curse, Secrets of the Wolf, and Search for the Vampires’ Curse. In each of these titles, there is the word “vampire” or the word “wolf”. I did that on purpose to make the books more searchable for those looking for vampire or werewolf books. I would like to do that with the trilogy, but I can’t figure out a title. Did I mention that coming up with a title is the hardest part of my writing process? Hey, guys, any suggestions would be welcome. When the right title comes along, it usually clicks and I know it’s right.
Speaking of titles, I’m still trying to figure out a title for my gnome book. The book is about a garden gnome who comes to life (this isn’t a spoiler, it’s pretty clear from the beginning what’s going on) along with a couple of other “lawn ornaments”. There is magic involved, a witch, a sacrifice along with murder and mayhem. And just a little romance. 🙂 If any of you have suggestions for this one, I’m open. At some point, there will be a title that hits me as the right one. I just don’t want to hold up the book for lack of a title. Not that I’m done with editing yet….
Who else is close to publishing? Will this be your first or your tenth published work? 🙂
“Mischief in the Garden”?
LOL, Ryan. That sounds a little too light hearted for this particular book. Although, that title actually gave me some ideas about another story! See how that works out sometimes? I”ll have to do an outline before I forget my idea. 🙂
Until now all my titles have come to me pretty early on, but for some of the other books I have planned out in my head, I am drawing a blank.
What about “Gnome-man’s Land”. Works better if I say it that write it down haha.
I am getting ready to publish the second Highway Novel. Just waiting on feedback from my Beta reader, make some changes and off and away I go. It will be my second book and I hope the first of three this year.
Gnome-man’s Land? That’s an interesting play on words. 🙂
Let us all know when the second novel is out. I’m anxious to see what happens to the characters after they get together and start on their journey.
Congrats! Sounds like quite an undertaking!
I’m not close to publishing but I am close to submitting my first novella for publication. Of course I just figured out last night how to expand it into a series…so I may not be done with this universe! I’m terrified and excited in equal measure.
Good luck with your title and have a great week!
Thanks, Jessica!
I remember the first time I published anything, I was scared and excited, too. Now I just get excited. 🙂
Congrats on pulling your stories together into a trilogy. How about something like – Blood and Fur in the Foxhole – kind of combining vampires/wolves/and Libby Fox in the title. Or Fangs and Fur….
Anyhow – both of your books sound exciting – love the premise with a gnome.
Wishing you another great week!
Hmmm. Fangs and Fur. It has a certain ring to it….
This gnome story has been hard to write. I’ll be glad when it’s edited and published. So I can move on to something maybe more “ghostly”. 🙂
For the trilogy: Secret Search For The Dark Cursed Vampire Relic With A Wolf. Or SSFTDCVRWAW for short.
You’re right, this is rough. 😛
In other news, did you ever watch David the Gnome on Nickelodeon? Loved that show when I was little, though didn’t have much to do with your garden variety lawn gnome. Get it? Garden-variety! (H’yuck)
Oooh, but that gives me a real idea for a title: A Garden Variety Adventure. Or something using the “garden variety” pun, anyway. Y’know, since you have a variety of garden ornaments and I very much doubt their adventure is mundane.
Oh, Matt, you never fail to crack me up! No, I never watched David the Gnome. LOL
I would love to keep the “gnome” name in the title if I could. I’ve gotten some email suggestions, too. Something’s going to click!
Did I ever tell why I came up with the gnome idea? I was at the Independent Garden Center show in Chicago one time, and they had a garden gnome there. I was thinking how creepy it was and told the person I was with that it would make a good story.
Ok, Lauralynn, I vote for this one! 😉 heehee
So SSFTDCVRWAW then? LOL
Since you have Vampire’s curse in two of the novels, why not “Vampire’s Curse”? I think it even reads better without the preceding article of ‘the’. Or “Vampire’s Curse;Wolves Bane”. Just an idea (two actually).
As for your gnome story (and they are creepy little dudes. I have a pack of them in a novel I’m working on. I call them the Roaming Gnomes. Devilish little tykes), how about “A Gnomes Playground” or “Wicked Garden”?
As for me, I just published my first novel, Beltaaine. Happy to be done with it and moving onto my second (if the gnomes let me, jerks!)
Good luck. Can’t wait to read the gnome story.
Hmmm. Keep it simple, huh? That makes sense.
I can’t believe you have a pack of gnomes in your book! That’s cool!’
I hope the gnomes let you work on your second book. LOL. I need to check out Beltaaine.
