I probably shouldn’t be doing this at work since I’m so busy, but most people get scheduled breaks. I don’t, so I just take breaks when I can. And this counts as a break. LOL

In the wee hours of the morning, while I was fast asleep, I was awakened by my husband saying, “Get off, get off, get off!” I jumped out of bed, and yelled, “What?!” His reply? “Oh, I was talking to the cat.” I did get a giggle out of that, so I wasn’t mad that he woke me up. Apparently, the cat was standing on his sore leg.

So in the last couple of weeks, my cats have caught two mice. They chase them and smack them around. When they are finally dead, they keep playing with them, batting them into the air. It’s really sad for me because I feel sorry for the mice. I’m just glad my cats aren’t the kind that enjoy tearing them apart and eating parts of them. I couldn’t stand having entrails spread across my house. *shudders*.

Here’s a funny thing. Our puppy, Duke (who is 30.4 lbs. and is only about 5 months old), loves to go grab washcloths or dishcloths out of the bathroom or laundry room and chew on them. The cats hide when he’s in the house because he chases them. But when he goes out, my female cat, Willow, goes to the cloth Duke has been chewing on and rolls around on it and rubs her face in it. It honestly looks like the thing is covered in catnap, the way she acts. Does anyone have a clue why she does this? She’s terrified of the dog, but she acts like she loves rolling in his scent. What’s up with that???

First, I want to let everyone know that Zoe Winters has her book, Save My Soul for FREE on Amazon. Here is the link: Save My Soul

Next, I want to mention that I’ve been trying to go natural with some of my skin care products. I’m not one of those people who think everything has to be organic, but I’m experimenting a little with different things. What started me finding some of these natural products on etsy.com is this blog Sparkling Reviews. I found the blog a awhile back when Mary favorably reviewed one of my books. I started following the blog. You should subscribe because there are usually giveaways related to the products reviewed, and I’ve actually won something. Most of the reviews lately have been Etsy shops. And I’ve been buying from some of the shops that have been reviewed. One of the things I love about natural skin care is that it usually smells AMAZING. And it feels so good on your skin. I’ve bought moisturizer, masks, soap, shampoo, and even eye shadow. Here are some of my favorite Etsy shops:

BabblingBrookSoap
MadisonStreetBeauty
EchoFriendlyLiving

Okay, and a couple of “edible” shops:

dellcovespices
jewelofthelion

I’ve placed an order for some ingredients to make my own moisturizer. I’ll let you know how THAT turns out.

In puppy news, we finally got Duke a place to run in the yard. He’s restrained but has LOTS of running room. He seems to be okay with it. I guess it’s better than being cooped up in a garage all day. And now my car can go back in the garage! Yay. And now there’s no poop in there. 😉

Puppy Pics

I’m sure you all remember Daisy who came to our house a few months ago. Well, she followed our old dog into the woods, and she never came back. I’ve heard a dog since then barking (happy barking), and I’m sure it’s her, so I think a neighbor through the woods kept her. She had a collar, but it didn’t have our name on it, so…. Anyway, I know any of our neighbors would take good care of her, and we really weren’t ready for another dog, especially since our other dog is old. But now a new puppy has come into our lives. For some reason, people tend to dump unwanted animals in our area. This puppy was only about 8 weeks old, and we all instantly fell in love. We took him and got his shots and wormer, and we got an identification tag. My son also got him a tag with his name (Duke), our phone numbers, and our address. But, now, we have to keep him in the garage because we don’t want him running off. So there is much poop cleaning in the garage. We’re working on a better way to keep him restrained since we can’t afford a fence. I thought I would post a couple of pictures of the little darling. The first picture is at about 8 weeks. The second picture is now (a little less than 3 months), but the picture makes him look smaller than he is. He went from 10 lbs. to 20 lbs. in 3 weeks! So heeerrrreeee’s Duke!

See all the little pieces of trash around Duke? Well, that’s only part of what he does to the garage. i wish I had taken pictures of some of his little disasters. Soda cans, potting soil, poop…

Pictures of Daisy

I’ve had some people ask me to post pictures of Daisy, my new puppy who came to my house from who knows where. It’s really hard to get pictures of a dog that wants to constantly lick my feet, so I had to take these through the french door. That’s why the quality might be lacking just a bit. I was hoping she would come closer, but this was the best I could do for now.

The first picture is of Daisy, but you can also see my twelve-year-old dog, Chipper lying in the background, looking as if he’s dead. LOL

In this second picture, Chipper has roused himself and is looking to see what Daisy is posing for. 🙂

Adorable, huh?

I don’t know what possesses a person to just drop off unwanted animals out in the country, hoping somebody will take care of the animal THEY weren’t willing to take care off. And, of course, I live in a rural area, so now I’ve acquired a new puppy. I guess we’re going to keep her because I don’t know what else to do. If we take her to a shelter, she could be euthanized. And our ARK (no kill shelter) is always full. And this puppy is so CUTE. My son has already named her Daisy Duke and calling her Daisy (sorry, Kait, I didn’t mean to have a dog with the same name as yours). When she first came a few days ago, she would bark at my dog, Chipper (who is 12 years old and doesn’t need that stress, LOL) like she was going to eat him up. I think they’ve finally made peace, though. A sad thing is that when this skittish little dog finally let me pet her, she lay on the deck with her front legs stretched out and her head tucked between them as if she were saying “ok, you can beat me now”. I almost cried. Was she mistreated before or was she just scared? I tried to get a picture of this cute little thing last night, but it was too dark. I’ll try to get something to post later. I have no idea how old she is, so I don’t how long it will be before we’ll have to have her spayed. My husband said she looks like she’s three or four months old. I’m thinking at LEAST that, maybe a little older. She has big paws, so she’s probably going to be big. She’s all one color, sort of a light brown. She has floppy ears. I have NO idea what kind she is. I’m already going to have to pay to have my male cat neutered in a few months, so adding cost for another animal isn’t making me happy. But what’s the alternative? I guess we have a new pet to add to our menagerie. So now we have two dogs and two cats. At least that pesky rooster that was coming to our house is gone. LOL
