First, I want to let everyone know that Zoe Winters has her book, Save My Soul for FREE on Amazon. Here is the link: Save My Soul
Next, I want to mention that I’ve been trying to go natural with some of my skin care products. I’m not one of those people who think everything has to be organic, but I’m experimenting a little with different things. What started me finding some of these natural products on etsy.com is this blog Sparkling Reviews. I found the blog a awhile back when Mary favorably reviewed one of my books. I started following the blog. You should subscribe because there are usually giveaways related to the products reviewed, and I’ve actually won something. Most of the reviews lately have been Etsy shops. And I’ve been buying from some of the shops that have been reviewed. One of the things I love about natural skin care is that it usually smells AMAZING. And it feels so good on your skin. I’ve bought moisturizer, masks, soap, shampoo, and even eye shadow. Here are some of my favorite Etsy shops:
BabblingBrookSoap
MadisonStreetBeauty
EchoFriendlyLiving
Okay, and a couple of “edible” shops:
I’ve placed an order for some ingredients to make my own moisturizer. I’ll let you know how THAT turns out.
In puppy news, we finally got Duke a place to run in the yard. He’s restrained but has LOTS of running room. He seems to be okay with it. I guess it’s better than being cooped up in a garage all day. And now my car can go back in the garage! Yay. And now there’s no poop in there. 😉
I read Zoe’s post earlier. Got my copy. I’ve mean meaning to try Zoe’s work for months, but the dreaded TBR pile only seems to get longer.
I like the name: Babbling Book Soap.
I’ve read all of Zoe’s books. I know what you mean by the TBR pile. Mine is huge.
I love that name, too. I like the soaps there because they have such wonderful scents. Sometimes I buy homemade soaps and you can barely tell what the scent is, but Babbling Brook puts enough scent in that it’s just right.
I heart Etsy so much. I buy all kinds of random stuff there. My pocketwatch necklace obsession began right there. Deliveries from Etsy made my kids think the postman is in love with me. Lol. (They thought he was turning up with presents rather than post. I love my kids).
I haven’t actually bought skincare there yet though. Thanks for the encouragement, I mean, tip. 😉
Glad Duke has his own space now! And the poop-free status of the garage. 🙂
Oh, I love Etsy, too. My buying has gotten a little out of hand. That Jewel of the Lion shop had the best fudge ever. Especially the chocolate covered cherry cheesecake with Oreo crust. Of course, now I can’t have that anymore. 😦 There’s another shop called Cake Face Soaping that has the BEST facial masks, but they are on vacation right now, so I didn’t mention them.
Ah, a poop free garage. You have NO idea how pleasant that is. It was really smelling BAD. He’s still going to have to come into the garage when it rains until we get his dog house built. Of course, when it’s cold, he stays in the laundry room at night. 🙂
Okay i have to admit, for some reason when you switched to the “edible” shops, I thought they were selling soaps and makeup and I got all excited for applebutter soap. Sigh, oh well, I’m sure edible soap wouldn’t be all that good, and I know for certain that non-edible soap is not good at all. I ate a lot of soap growing up, there is no aquired taste. Yuck!
Well, Jewel of the Lion has Sour Apple Fudge. I’m not sure exactly how THAT would taste, though.
My oldest son also knows how soap tastes. He still remembers to this day, and he’s almost thirty.
The worst was when mt mom thought liquid soap would be okay to use. GAK! You cannot wash that stuff out of your mouth. Come to think of it I don’t own anything other than liquid soap, I guess it didn’t traumatize me too badly.
The older I get, the more I try to go natural. I can’t recall the lotion I have at the moment, but it’s one of the more organic types. I got it while at a craft show from a company representative who was next to my table. 😀 It is awesome. After using that, I picked up lotion from my grocery store and I could tell how poor in quality the store lotion was (something I hadn’t noticed before). There’s something to the natural stuff out there.
Thanks for the great links!
