My goals for Round 4:
1. Write at least 500 words per day as an average. (I have a spreadsheet where I key in my words each day and I can see if I’m over, under, or at my cumulative goal.)
2. Publish the third Libby Fox novella during Round 4 (this is the story I’ll be working on for the 500 words per day goal).
3. Publish Starfane in print sometime during Round 4. (I’m halfway there on this one already.)
4. Publish a collection of three of my novellas in print during Round 4 (if my cover artist and I can get together on this one that soon).
5. Exercise at least three times a week, for 30 minutes at a time, so that I’ll feel better and get my writing goals accomplished more easily.
This is the first time I’ve stated a non-writing goal, but I think exercise is essential for keeping our minds alert and our bodies feeling better. I think it leads to better writing. Just my opinion.
Good luck on your goals this round!
I didn’t state exercise as one of my goals, but I’ve been working out 4 times a week and I have to admit, even though my muscles are sore somedays it really does make me feel better.
Hi, FR, good to see you again!
That’s great that you’ve been working out. I’m a firm believer in exercise. I’m just lazy and don’t do it consistently. I thought maybe stating it as a goal would help.
OK, I get the hint…As a sponsor this round, I’ve been checking in with a few of you already. And all of you – yes, all of you – have stated an exercise goal. As a personal trainer, you’d think I would have thought of that, but no…I think it will have to top my list at our first regular check-in.
All the best on your writing and publishing goals, Lauralynn. (Great name, by the way.)

I can understand why you didn’t think of the exercise thing. This is mostly a writing challenge. But, lately, many of the ROW80ers have started thinking more about exercise. I’m stuck at a desk in my full time job, and then I’m at a desk writing. I think most of us need that moving around time. It’s good for us physically and mentally. But I don’t have to tell you that. LOL
Thanks for the encouraging words. I use a pen name that’s part my mom’s name and part my name. 🙂
Good luck with your goals! I’ve noticed a few people including excercise in their list of goals and I think that’s a great idea. I need to dedicate more time for it.
Thanks, Ghenet!
I think exercise is very important. It makes me more creative and energized.
I think non-writing goals are a great idea!
Hi Nicole!
Especially when those non-writing goals can actually HELP your writing! 🙂
Non-writing goals are great, may have to tweak mine. Good luck and I’m looking forward to getting to know you during round 4 — though I kinda feel like I do as I see you on Kait’s blog all the time 🙂
Hi Raelyn! It’s always nice to get to know other writers, especially since real life friends sometimes just don’t “get it”. LOL.
Kait was one of the first writers I “met”. (Well, actually I have met her a couple of times in real life now.) Usually, the way I’ve gotten to know people was meeting them on other blogs. I think we have a nice little community here, especially the ROW80ers. 🙂
Wow, excellent goals! And lol, I’m glad you’re ok with me lurking. I’ll try to do a few check-in this time around. 🙂
Hi, Jenn!
You can lurk if you want. 🙂 But if you do a few check ins, at least we’ll know you’re there!
Non-writing goals are wonderful! I think we don’t often realize how much they help us in our writing. I always plan out monthly goals for myself. Some of these goals include things I want to knit — and I find knitting a great way to unwind my brain and think through plot problems in my writing.
Good luck with this ROW!
Hi Alice!
I think sometimes we get so focused on the writing that we forget there are other things we need to do. LOL. Monthly goals are a great idea. If knitting is something you enjoy, then that’s a good way to relax.
Thanks for the good luck wishes!
You’re gonna be a publishing fiend! I wish you best of luck with that and with your writing goals. 🙂
I also like your fitness goal. If I don’t get out and walk every day I get (more) crazy. Which is not necessarily a good thing. lol
A publishing fiend! I like that! 🙂
Now that it’s cooler, I need to get on that $300 bicycle I still haven’t ridden after several months. It’s been too stinking hot! LOL
Good luck with your goals! I didn’t include exercise with mine but I try to practice yoga 4x a week. I just feel better and my mind’s clearer when I keep up regular physical activity!
Thanks, Vernieda! That’s good that you’re already doing yoga. It’s great for mind and body.
Wow, you have an awesome set of goals! It’s a good idea to include exercising; I see a lot of folks are doing that. Good luck and happy writing!
Thanks, Jaime! This is the first time I’ve seen this many people including exercise in their goals. It’s catching! 🙂
Best of luck accomplishing your goals. Looking forward to following your progress!
Thanks Harford!
Oops, Hartford. My fingers got too fast and I misspelled you! LOL
Good luck with your goals, and see you around in this round! 🙂
Thanks, Ruth. I’m sure we’ll see a lot of each other. 🙂
Good luck with your goals! I will be cheering for you. I got exercise on my list of Row8 goals as well 🙂
Thanks, Angela! I think exercise is important. I’m going bike riding this evening. 🙂
Maybe that’s a good idea, listing writing as a goal. I agree with your justification. For me, exercise is also a good time to tune out and let my brain work on things. Sometimes I’ll be moving along and WAM! My brain figures out something huge while I am focused on my body. Love that!
Of course I meant listing exercise as a goal. *sigh*
Hee hee. I knew what you meant.
I rode my bike yesterday, but I couldn’t do more than 30 minutes (I was shooting for an hour). When I woke up this morning, I was aching so badly that I had to take three ibuprofen. My friends were okay, but they are used to going up and down stairs all the time in their three story house. I’m not used to my legs doing that much work. LOL.
