I complete forgot today was the beginning of Round 4! My, how time flies.

So here is what I hope to accomplish this round.

1. Write at least five days a week.
2. Write for at least an hour each time.
3. This is a big goal, but I would love to have my cozy mystery finished by the end of the round. It’s probably not going to happen, but 80 days is 11.43 weeks. Multiply that by 5000 words per week. I could write 57,150 words by the end of the round if I stuck to goals 1 and 2. And I already have a couple thousand words written. Plus, I usually write more than 1000 in an hour now, so there’s a little wiggle room. So it’s POSSIBLE.
4. Get my science fiction romance plotted out.

Goals 1 and 2 and can be measured each check in. But achieving goal 3 can’t happen until the end of the round. And goal 4, well, whenever it’s done.

I’ve thought and thought about what I want my writing goal to be. I don’t want to set a goal that I’m not likely to achieve, but I also don’t want to make it too easy. There has to be some challenge. Although, last round, writing at all was a challenge. So here is my writing goal. I know I can change it if I have to, but for right now…my goal is to write at MINIMUM three days a week for one hour. Those three days don’t have to be any particular days, just three days sometime in the week. And then we’ll see if I need to change that later.

I want to continue my healthier lifestyle. I don’t set weight goals, because our bodies don’t always cooperate, even when we’re doing the best we can. But I want to continue to work out with weights four days a week and walk on the treadmill 15 minutes in the mornings and 45 minutes or more in the evenings.

There is an announcement I need to make today, but I wasn’t sure it was appropriate on my goals post. However, I don’t particularly like to post twice in one day, so I’ll be brief. Smashwords is having a sale in the month of July, so some of my books there are free and some are half-price. HERE is my profile page and you can find my books from there. The coupon code to use is listed at the top right of each book page.

I’ve been thrown quite a few curve balls the last six months. Life hasn’t been a lot of fun for me. But I know there are a lot of people dealing with a lot worse, so I’m thankful for all the good things. Because there ARE a lot of good things. Unfortunately, one of those good things WASN’T writing like I should.

Anyway, for this round’s goals, I don’t want to set the standard too high because I’m going to have to get back into the groove. For now, I’m going to set my goal for writing a hour on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. When work slows down and LIFE slows down (I hope), I’m going to add Tuesday to the mix. Hopefully, I can do that soon. We’ll see how that goes. I usually set goals higher, but right now, too much is going on. I need goals I can actually meet. Monday is going to be for my sponsor duties if I don’t get everyone visited on Sunday. I never write on Wednesdays and Sundays, because those are church days, and Wednesday is sponsor day, too.

I hope everyone has a great Round Two in 2013!

The last round ended up during a time that was very difficult for me in many ways. I won’t go into all of that since most of you know what all happened. But it’s time to move on and get my writing mojo back. 🙂

This round starts at kind of a hard time since I’m out of town on business for the next three days. But there’s absolutely no reason I can’t write at night after all the lectures and receptions and networking. I have nights to myself here in my room, so there’s no excuse not to write.

My main goal is to write one hour per day, five days a week. Some days that might be 250 words, some days it might be 1,000. I’ve worked better with time goals rather than word count goals, although I will be keeping up with word count on a spreadsheet. I would really like to finish my WIP during this round.

My secondary goal is to get Soul of a Vampire out in print. This should have been done already. I think I already have it formatted (it’s been so long, I forgot if it’s finished), and Anya already has my cover ready. So this goal should be easy to achieve. I don’t rush the print versions because they don’t sell nearly as well as the ebooks, but I do have one reader that always waits on the print version. I would put it out in print for that person alone.

My non-writing goal is to keep my blood sugar at the proper levels through diet and exercise. My MAJOR goal would be to no longer require insulin shots, but that might possibly be out of my control. My doctor says it doesn’t happen often, but it DOES happen. We shall see.

I wish all of you a GREAT Round One and hope you all meet your goals. 🙂

My goals for Round 4:

1. Write at least 500 words per day as an average. (I have a spreadsheet where I key in my words each day and I can see if I’m over, under, or at my cumulative goal.)

2. Publish the third Libby Fox novella during Round 4 (this is the story I’ll be working on for the 500 words per day goal).

3. Publish Starfane in print sometime during Round 4. (I’m halfway there on this one already.)

4. Publish a collection of three of my novellas in print during Round 4 (if my cover artist and I can get together on this one that soon).

5. Exercise at least three times a week, for 30 minutes at a time, so that I’ll feel better and get my writing goals accomplished more easily.

This is the first time I’ve stated a non-writing goal, but I think exercise is essential for keeping our minds alert and our bodies feeling better. I think it leads to better writing. Just my opinion.
