The two subjects in the title have nothing to do with each other. But I wanted to blog about both of them, so I combined them. LOL.
I almost didn’t tell this one. But, hey, I share. 🙂 Anyway…Tuesday night, I fell asleep on the couch, which isn’t unusual. I woke up at almost 1:00 am with a sharp burning pain in my side. I walked, sat, lay down, but I couldn’t get any relief. The pain was too high to be appendicitis and not far enough toward my back to be kidney stones. The scary thing to me was that the pain was basically where my lung is, and I’ve been paranoid about blood clots in the lung since my best friend died from that last year. I finally put my clothes on, put my contact lens back in, and called my mom. Yes, I woke my 77 year old mom up at 1:15 in the morning. She came to my house (she only lives two houses down) and we talked about whether or not I should go to the emergency room. Finally, we decided it was better to be safe, so she drove me to the hospital. Before we even arrived, my pain just vanished. We sat in the hospital parking lot waiting to see if it came back, but it never did. So there was no way I was going to pay for an emergency room visit, since my $1500 deductible hasn’t been met, if I had no pain. So we drove back home. I apologized to my mom, but she said she didn’t have anything else to do. LOL. So we decided we would just say it was an adventure. She seems to think that it’s possible I slept wrong and strained the muscles in my side. I do have a problem where my side muscles cramp up sometimes if I move a certain way, and the pain is excruciating for about a minute, then it goes away. So it could be related to that somehow. Anyway, I was scared. I kept thinking of all the things I had left undone in case I died. I hadn’t given my husband the password to our online payment accounts. The people at work don’t know my password for a lot of things they would need to know if I wasn’t there. Lesson learned? Make sure all your stuff is taken care of in case you croak in the middle of the night. LOL
Okay, after that rather bizarre story, here is something sweet and cute to look at. My two kittens.
That was scary, and good on your mom for driving you! I feel like it’s kind of morbid but I have nothing organised if I kicked the bucket. Oh well.
Those kittens are gorgeous.
Hi Emma. Yeah, it was scary, but I haven’t had any more pain since then. I really need to get those passwords recorded somewhere. My husband needs a copy, and I was going to give Anya a copy. It’s just one of those things I procrastinate about.
Aren’t those two little kitties adorable?
So sorry you had such a scare. You know I’m here for you!
We’ve talked about the password thing before. Always a good idea to have all that stuff written down somewhere where someone can find it if needed in an emergency.
But on a good note…wow! Willow and Oz have grown so much! How sweet are they?
I’ve been fine since then. I don’t know what it was, but maybe it won’t ever happen again. *shudders*
The cats certainly have grown. I need to figure out when Oz needs to be neutered. I’m not sure there’s a reason to spay Willow if she’s only exposed to Oz. I’ll ask the vet. But I certainly don’t need any more kittens! Of course, I need to get Daisy spayed, too. I need to get another picture of her. It’s just so hard because she won’t be still. LOL
I’m glad your pain went away, Lauralynn! You’re so lucky to have your mom close by…
My mom is the greatest. And she’s so calm about everything.
Well that was good that it went when it did. Nothing like a health scare to make you realise a few things. I woke up with a weird diaphragm ache / pain this morning when I take a deep breath. Then I remembered I was doing a new exercise at the gym yesterday, and I think it is related to that (probably some kind of soreness).
The top picture looks like a younger version of my cat, although your one looks friendlier. Our cat is mostly only friendly to my 18 month old son.
If you did any kind of chest exercises, then that’s probably what that is. When I was going to the gym, I got pains like that from chest exercises. But any kind of pain that’s unfamiliar can really scare us.
Both of my cats are friendly, but the tabby is definitely the friendliest. Funny about the 18 month old because my son’s girlfriend has an 18 month old daughter, and my cats are afraid of her. They just aren’t used to being around someone that small. Hopefully, they’ll get used to her. I want cats that are friendly to everyone. They are just about four months old, so they have time for training. 🙂
Yes, the pain is nothing I’m worried about right now. I didn’t directly work the chest, but I can see what might have caused it.
I think our cat stayed out of the way to begin with, but realised he was a baby and needed a lot of care and attention, as time went on. She realised he was no threat to her, and in fact could give her plenty of attention.
Scary!!! Nothing like an injury or health scare, to re prioritize your life. Hope it continues to be nothing. Sending good thoughts your way!
Your kitties are adorable! 🙂
It was very scary. But I’m still ok.
I love the little cuties.
I’m certainly glad you’re feeling better…
Have you been exercising? Sometimes you can pull or twist the wrong way – but it might not hurt right away. I once pulled my diaphram muscle – and it didn’t hurt until the next day! I couldn’t stand up straight for days. Lol.
As for thinking about all the undone, unsaid things we’ve neglected…I recently thought about this also. I made sure I wrote my dad a letter telling him how much I appreciated the way he raised me. He cried like a baby…and I was able to tell him through the written word all the things I would never say aloud. My spark to do this? Well! While riding on the back of a motorcycle, this lady nearly took my leg off! She swerved into our lane…and then had the chutzpah to give me the finger! Jeepers! I nearly plotzed right on the spot. Then, once I collected myself…we laughed and laughed. Phew! But it stayed with me for a few days – that’s for sure
Nadja, I can’t believe that happened to you! How scary!
That was a nice thing you did for your dad. There are so many things we leave unsaid.
I haven’t been doing any exercise except walking yet. I havent had any more pain so who knows what it was.
That is scary. That’s a good point. I need to show my husband where all of my passwords and accounts are. It’s awesome your mom is nearby to help you.
Those are adorable cat pictures. Thanks for sharing, and I’m glad your feeling better. 😀
It was definitely scary, Ruth. I really need to get everything organized at home and at work. It seemed weird that my 77 year old mom is taking me to the emergency room rather than the other way around. Although, I have done it for her in the past.
I just love my kitty cats.
I’m glad to hear you are okay after such a scare. Better safe than sorry. It’s good that you were proactive and made the hospital trip. For peace of mind, it might be good to have a check up at the doctor, though bodies can be like cars (when you take them to the mechanic that mysterious knocking noise suddenly disappears). Your kitties rock! Thanks for sharing pics.
Hi Michelle. I haven’t had any more pain at all. It was just so weird. I’m not one to run to the emergency room, so this was a first for me. And then I didn’t even end up going. LOL
I love my kittens, but I can’t wait until they’re old enough to want to be cuddled. Right now, all they want to do is play, and when you hold them, they wriggle until you put them down. I much prefer grown cats. But they’re so much fun to watch right now. 🙂
