1. Writing – I haven’t written a word. I was so floored by my blood pressure situation that I decided to concentrate on health last week. Plus, I’ve spent HOURS preparing to teach Vacation Bible School. I hope I can get back on track on writing this week. I’ll be at VBS every night this week, but hopefully I can come home and write. I still need to get the junk off my desk in my office (piled up to get stuff out of the living room when I had my Pampered Chef party). I write better in my office instead of in the living room with the TV on.
2. Kittens – The kittens played non-stop for 6 hours in the house yesterday. It was like having two toddlers in the house. I had to constantly watch them to keep them out of trouble. They knocked over a plant, but I think I fixed it so hubby doesn’t find out. LOL. After six hours, they plopped down in hubby’s recliner and snoozed. I did decide on Willow and Oz for names.
3. Health – My goal is to walk five times a week. I started all of this Wednesday. I walked on the treadmill Wednesday after church and at lunch on Thursday and Friday. That was three times, but I didn’t start until the middle of the week. I’m learning to leave stuff on my plate, so I have leftovers from both last night and from lunch today. Actually, I have more than half of today’s lunch left over. I still haven’t been to the grocery store, so not much cooking done. With VBS all week, I may not get to the cooking until after that’s over. Oh, and I forgot to weigh this morning, so I guess I won’t be reporting weight loss (or gain) until next week.
4. Movie thoughts -We went to see Men in Black 3 last night since it was hubby’s birthday and that’s what he wanted to do. It was good, but not as good as the first two, in my opinion. I loved the first one. It’s one of my favorite movies.
How did YOU do last week?
Sounds like my writing life back in Feb/Mar, when I was dealing with health issues, too. You’ll get it straightened out, I’m sure!
I love the names: Willow and Oz. Perfect!
You *go* with the exercise! You’ll feel better, too.
Thanks, Julia. We have times when something, like health, has to be our main focus. You’re right…I’ll get it straightened out.
Willow and Oz are one of my favorite TV couples. I figure most of my online writer friends know who they are, but most of my real life friends won’t have a clue. LOL
TV couples? You got me there! Of course you would, as I dont’ have a TV.
I’m feeling better than i have in ages, after working through my health issues. Not quite good as gold, but getting there.
Oh, and another thing – I learned to not expect the MDs to take care of all the myriad aspects of my issue. I had to do some footwork myself.
Which reminds me of my neighbor. Her internist diagnosed her with Congestive Heart Failure a couple months ago, and STILL HASN’T REFERRED HER TO A CARDIOLOGIST! See what I mean! :::fights urge to strangle internist:::
Willow and Oz are a couple from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. 🙂
Sometimes I wonder how much doctors really care anymore. Some of them do, I’m sure, but some seem to want to just rush you out. I’m going to see if exercise will bring down my blood pressure like it usually does before I decide to take any meds. Maybe find some natural things that might help. If I can’t bring it down that way, I may have to take something, at least for awhile. But I hope not.
I’m glad you’re feeling better. I hope you continue to improve until you’re back to normal.
Ah! Buffy! I need to netflix that show eventually…
I do think that some MDs care, but with the way healthcare is run in the US, they don’t have the time to follow through the way they should. I’ve been lucky – I have really good docs – but it was still up to me to make sure that I saw the sleep doc, and to hound him and his staff until I got everything that I needed.
I recommend acupuncture for your HBP, in addition to the exercise and weight loss. Not sure what state you’re in, but if you let me know what city you’re in, I’ll try to find a good referral for you.
I went out walking with the Ipod today and felt much better for it. I missed the second Men in Black but I doubt that would prevent me from enjoying the third?
Five times a week seems a lot but then again, I’m a very lazy person!
Walking always makes me feel better. Five times a week is necessary for me to get the blood pressure under control. I would shoot for every day, but that’s sometimes not possible.
You wouldn’t necessarily have to see the second one before seeing the third. But it would be better to have seen the first one and know who everyone is.
Have seen the first one so I should be all right, thanks.
Argh, sorry to hear the writing has stalled out! But Life does that sometimes.
I’ve been walking every day this week, except for today, and did longer gardening stints twice. No weight change, however, and I haven’t gotten back into the habit of checking my blood pressure. I need to add that to my daily routine!
Have a great week. 🙂
Good job, Ruth! The weight doesn’t always come off right away. I want to look better but right now it’s all about health. Keep it up!
Best of luck as you take on the kiddies at VBS! I’m preparing a lesson on ‘Being Sensitive To Words In An Audio/Visual Ruled Culture’. It’s shaping up nicely.
I so love to watch animals play. It’s better than any television! :} When my boys carry on with the dog…it’s absolutely entertaining. Ha. Great job on the walking and such.
Walking at lunch is good. Wonder if I know anyone to go walking with at lunch? I picked up some chick at the park last Friday to walking with. Wonder if she would want me to go walking with her again? 😉
Hee hee. We won’t be walking today, chick. Unless you want to get really wet. Rain, rain….
First of all, how could ANY update that includes kittens be bad?! I hope the medical concerns/issues get better so you can have some word-filled days. Sending writer hugs!
Thanks, Tia! And you’re right…kittens make everything better, don’t they?
Sounds like you got a great start on health front! I hope you feel better soon. 😀
I love the names you picked for the kittens. They are so cute.
I want to see Men in Black 3. I actually liked 2 better than 1, but I did enjoy the first one a lot. I’d think it’s be harder to come up with fresh ideas the further you get into a movie series. Jurassic Park 1 and 2 were good, and the 3rd one just seemed more of the same, and though I like all three of those, I figured 3 was harder for the writers to come up with something to do with the characters. I take the whole series as a lesson in knowing when to quit as a writer. Better to end it when the stories are going strong than to force the story just because the series was popular. If I’m right, Stephannie Meyer quick writing books in the Twilight world because she was exhausted. I say good for her for knowing enough was enough. That took courage to make that decision because I imagine her fans weren’t happy about it.
Thanks, Ruth! I’m already feeling a little better. Although, Vacation Bible School is exhausting me. LOL.
I agree that by the time the third movie is out, the ideas are running out. I actually think MIB 3 is worth seeing, but it’s just not as good as the first two.
What I think is strange about Jurassic Park is both Sam Neill and Jeff Goldblum are in the first one, only Jeff is in the second one, and only Sam is in the third one. And there’s a “rumor” according to imdb.com that there’s going to be a 4th movie with both of them in it. That’s probably not true, though.
My Libby Fox series was definitely done at book three. LOL
