It’s been kind of a weird week. I took a break from writing (and most everything else) for a week because I really, really needed it. I started back on Tuesday, but I’ve only been writing every other day. On the days I have written, though, I’ve written more than my usual word count. My cumulative goal is 500 words per day. This is how it went: Tuesday-1220, Thursday-1384, Saturday-1312. So since I started back on Tuesday, I’ve written an average of about 783 per day. Not too shabby. Also, I started my Christian romance on Thursday and wrote 579 words that day and 980 on Friday. That story seems to be going well. I’m going to stick to my guns about only writing that one on my lunch hour at work so I can keep it separate from what I’m writing at home.
On the proofing, exercising, and housekeeping front…well, I’ve not done so well. It seems like the devil is out to get me on the exercise. Every time I plan on walking on the treadmill, I get an awful pain in my foot. It’s not always the same foot, either. It’s very strange.
I hope I’ll get around to visiting some of your blogs today and tomorrow. I took a break from that, too, and I really miss it.
Well done on the words you did manage to do. Those totals are brilliant. π
I get that sometimes when I want to get back into exercise after a break. I end up getting a cold. It’s strange isn’t it.
x
Thanks, Laura! You know, sometimes I just think someone’s trying to sabotage me when I’m trying to exercise. LOL.
I’m getting back to the old WIP this week full steam. Fundraiser over…success for the kids! But…whew…I’m exhausted. Now, it’s time to get serious again about my writing.
And…as to your question…I have an image of Jimmy that may…MAY end up on the cover of ‘The Third Fate’….I just adore the look of that man. Have you seen him with the shorter hair. Perfect! π
I’m glad you’re finally getting a breather. I’m also glad the fundraiser went well. π
Jimmy is definitely hot. And he can look different in different poses. I’ve seen him with short hair, long hair, medium hair…and he looks good in all of the pics. I used him for the Libby Fox Series, and I’m going to use him for the print book that features three of my novellas. I do wish that he had more pics that weren’t quite so, um, revealing. In the last Libby Fox where they are in the water, I had to get my cover artist to cover up parts that I thought shouldn’t be on my covers. LOL
Even with the time off (which we all need at times) I’d say you had a great writing week. Very odd about your feet conspiring against you. Perhaps the shoes? Personally, I find it best to walk off leg and foot cramps, just go slow. A walk a 1 or 1.5 mph is better than a walk at zero. *friendly nudge*
Have a great week, Lauralynn π
Thanks, Gene! I wish it was just cramps. It feels like joint pain. But I’m going to try to work through it anyway. Your little nudge makes me want to try to at least walk slowly if I’m having a foot problem. I appreciate the inspiration! You rock.
Wow great numbers!! I write during my lunch breaks. Its amazing how lost I can get in my story and wake up after an hour to then think budgets and numbers LOL!!!
Keep it up Lauralynn!!
Thanks, Natasha! I’m writing during my lunch hour on one project and at home on another. I always said I couldn’t write two things at once, so now I’m proving myself wrong. LOL.
I know what you mean about having to go back to thinking about numbers. That’s what I have to do, too.
Fantastic word count!
There are some great ibuprofen patches that help with joint pain at the location. I use them on my back and hip when the pain gets too high. Good luck with your exercise regiment!
Keep Writing!!!
Ibuprofen patches? Really? Now that’s some info I’m glad to hear. I didn’t know they made those. I appreciate you letting me know.
Thanks for the encouragement!
So when you take a break, you increase your word count. That’s a bonus! Good job for starting your new story. Ack, sorry about your feet. I hope it goes away so that you can get back on the treadmill.
It’s weird, Ryan. I’ll have days I don’t want to even touch my WIP. Then when I do, words just start pouring out. I could write longer if my hands didn’t hurt. Kind of like my feet. LOL. I’m determined to get on that treadmill even if I have to go slow like Gene suggested. I’ve got to get some exercise in. And I really have no excuse because I have Wii games that would be easier on my feet. The reason I like the treadmill is because I can read while I’m walking. π
I inadvertently took a break last week due to work, and I think it was good for me. I feel invigorated to start writing on a project this week and I am really excited! Good luck, sounds like the recharge helped…I know you’ll do great this week!
Thanks, Jess! Sometimes those breaks do help us recharge. If a project seems to be draining energy instead of feeling exciting, it might be time for a break.
Hey! It sounds like things are going well! Today in a free write I decided, “Why did I even write today? I don’t think I was meant to write today…” so after I comment on a few blogs, I am going to rest!
π
And wow, you even did well on your word counts. Keep it up!!
Julie, sometimes you just don’t want to write. This is kind of how I feel about it. At my full time job, I answer to my boss and I have to work every day. The writing is my own business, and I need to make sure I’m productive, but I can still take off when I need to. We should never use it as an excuse to just write “whenever”, but we can take a break.
Even professional athletes have to take rest days. Why not writers? Writers need to relax and regroup too.
Very good point, Miq!
Sometimes a break is exactly what you need. π I’m glad it worked out for you!
Thanks! I think it’s all coming together. π
