I just wanted to do a quick post to let some of my author friends know that I’m not purposely avoiding their blogs. There are some of you who have blogs that I really, really want to comment on. But, last night (and this happens often), I couldn’t post ANYTHING on a blogspot blog. When I clicked the publish button, it would say “redirecting”, and then it would just stay on the page. On a couple of blogs, I could momentarily see the part where I’m supposed to enter the code, then it would flash back to the original page. There’s one author’s blog that will NEVER let me comment. And then some are just sporadic. I wish there was something I could do to make WordPress and Blogspot talk to each other better. I always sign in as “open id” and use my WordPress id. Should I use something different? It used to work fine. Not anymore. Also, is there any way to be notified of follow up comments on Blogspot? On WordPress, you can click the box to see other comments on a blog post. I see nothing like that on Blogspot. So when I comment on a Blogspot post, I never know whether anyone answered my comment or not. Oh how I wish these two blogging sites would communicate better! Can’t we just all get along? LOL
I have the same troubles with blogspot and it makes me saaaaad. And here I’ll be using WordPress’s convenient notification on comments system to see if anyone chimes in on being able to do the same on blogspot, because I’m always wondering the same thing!
You would think if WordPress can notify of comments, Blogspot could, too. I wonder if it’s available and people just don’t know how to put it on their blog. There are things on WordPress that I didn’t initially know I could do and found out later that I could. Who knows? But it’s a convenient tool if you want to know if someone has answered your comment. But what really bugs me is not always being able to comment. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.
I’ve had problems leaving comments on Blogspot and Blogger too… I’ve even DM’d a few of the writers to let them know. One even went to the great lengths to move her blog over to WordPress because I wasn’t the only one that had told her about the inability to comment.
So many people use Blogspot, so I can’t figure out why it can’t be made more user friendly. I’m glad I’m not the only one having problems. I was hoping it wasn’t just my WordPress account.
I used blogger briefly for a blog I was sharing and HATED it. It’s just as difficult use as it is to comment on. But even if the commenting was easy, many of them have captchas which just get annoying after a while. With my limited time I’ll only comment if I have something really important to say or know the blogger.
Andrew, I had one friend to switch to WordPress for a second blog and said that blogger was easier to navigate. But I don’t see how that could be possible. Those captchas can be turned off (because I’ve been to some blogs that don’t have them) but most people use them. They kind of annoy me, too. What’s really bothering me is that I want to encourage my fellow ROW80ers and I can’t because half the time blogger is being wonky and won’t let me.

My readers are battling with this. Apparently you need to use the Name/URL option to leave a comment. That’s if the site will load for you in the first place!
(On the other hand, where your comment form says ‘Website’ it loads ‘Gravatar’. I have to copy and paste my link)
Thanks for the link. Obviously, this is a common problem. I’ll try the other option and see if that works.
