Okay, so I’m doing two posts today. I never do that, but I HAD to show everyone my awesome new shoes. They might be a little over the top for some people but…. Anyway, check out my previous post if you want to see a picture.
Now, back to ROW80. I’m a little bit behind again (not too bad), but my friend wanted me to go shopping with her last night. Shopping? When was the last time I really did that? So I thought about how I had worked so hard on my books and how I deserved to use a little of that money on JUST ME. So I did. :0) Anyway, I’m moving along pretty well on the novella. Part of the beauty of being a pantser (shut up Kait and Susan, LOL) is that I was going along writing what came to me, and I suddenly thought of a perfect reason WHY what was happening was happening. I had no idea when I started writing. So sometimes I’m as surprised as the reader would be. And that’s really fun. :0)
I’m a pantser, too, and you’re right! The greatest thing about pantsing (?) is discovering things alongside your characters. π I love when that happens.
Really cute shoes, BTW! A little self-indulgence is definitely deserved every once in awhile. π
Hi, Lacy! The weird thing about being a pantser is that I’m very organized in my full time job. Most plotters are very organized people. So it’s funny that I’m a pantser. LOL
Thanks, I love my shoes. :0)
I’m super organized in every other part of my life, too, so maybe there’s something to that. Maybe the hyper-organized part of us longs to break free and uses fiction as an escape. If someone hasn’t done a study on that, they need to get on it. π
First of all, SQUEE over those shoes. LOVE them. What can I say, shoes excite me. π I got a new pair today but they aren’t half as good. LOL.
That’s what I love about the pants-ing (um?) – I hate knowing what’s going to happen because I get bored so easily. I’m more of a rough, I know how it starts and I kind have a general idea of how I want it to end, type of girl. That might be why I despise editing so much, I already know how it ends. π
Aren’t those shoes the greatest? I usually buy $15-$20 shoes. These were Ann Klein and were on sale for $40. :0)
I get bored easily, too. That’s why I’ve balked so long against doing a series. But apparently readers want that. So I’m doing one to see if I can stand it. LOL
I’m also a pantser, I like to follow the words and very shopping deprived, may have to do some retail therapy. Hope the rest of the week goes wells.
It amazes me how many people are pantsers. In fact, there’s a well known author that admits being a pantser. I’m pretty sure it’s Janet Evanovich. I heard it in an interview after one of her audio books.
I’ve been shopping deprived for a very long time. I needed it! :0)
A good evening for you! You deserve it.
Thanks, Andrew! It was great!
Funky cute shoes! Took my kidling shopping for spring sandals last weekend. As we left the store with our loot, she said, “I wish we could go shoe shopping every week.”
That’s my girl! We can dream together…
I’m a pantser too. Even if I did plan it all out, I’d just change it along the way anyway. So, why waste all that time? I like to start with the beginning and end in mind…then fill in the blanks in between.
I love to shop for shoes. I used to love to shop for clothes until I gained weight. That part of the shopping was kind of depressing, but I did manage to find some cute shirts and a skirt. But my feet never get fat! Hahahahahaha.
I always know how I’m going to begin, and I usually know the ending. I really don’t know the ending this time because it could go several ways, and I’m waiting to see what the characters are going to do before I decide. That’s the fun of it!
Nice shoes! Though I wouldn’t wear anything with high heels, as I have all the grace of an epileptic grizzly bear and I’d end up falling over and/or breaking my ankle. Sometimes we need to just splurge or take time out… For me it’s usually chocolate and a few episodes of Doctor Who haha
As a plotter, I feel a bit out of place here π I would pants if I could, but any projects I’ve started in the past where I didn’t know what would happen have always ended up failing. My current project is the first one I’ve made an outline for, and the only real thing stopping me progressing on that is time. I actually went back and started making an outline for one of my abandoned projects, so hopefully once I finish this one I can plot my way through it as well π
Chocolate is good too! π
I don’t think there’s a right or wrong answer to the pantser or plotter issue. I think it just depends on what works for each writer. None of us should be forced to do it a certain way because we’re “supposed to”. When I’ve tried to plot, I just can’t think of where I want to go with the story. It’s like I can’t think until I’m actually writing and words are flowing.
Good luck with your projects!
