I used to think I would never get tired of CSI. That it was the greatest show in the world. Then CSI: Miami. Then CSI: New York. But then there were so many shiny new shows! Shows that were different. And the DVR just keeps filling up. When will I have time to write??? *wrings hands*

My husband and I have had Directv for years. When U-Verse finally came to our house, we chose to only take the internet service. We stuck with Directv. One of the reasons I didn’t want U-Verse TV is that you can DVR four shows instead of two! Sounds great, doesn’t it? But when would I actually watch all those shows. I work 8 or more hours a day, 5 days a week. I need writing time. I need cleaning house time. I need exercise time. WHEN can I watch that much TV? Oh, and then there’s Netflix. I have so many things queued up to watch. And I haven’t finished watching my Twin Peaks DVDs. I haven’t finished watching my Buffy DVDs (for about the 6th time). And I HAVE to watch Moonlight again!

I discovered the other day that I had 4 CSI:New York’s and about that many CSI and Criminal Minds on the DVR. I’m behind watching The Mentalist. I’m going to have to trim something down, but I don’t know what to give up. I’ve added The Vampire Diaries, Grimm, Once Upon a Time, and my FAVORITE, Person of Interest. I have to give up something. Well, actually I did give up one show. My husband was disappointed to find that The River, which he was waiting for anxiously, came on at the same time as one of his other shows and one of mine…Ringer. He was just going to have to skip it. He thought. But I love my hubby so much and didn’t want to disappoint him. So I gave up Ringer for The River. I actually wanted to watch it, too, so it wasn’t that hard. I’ll really miss Ringer, and maybe I can catch it on Netflix later.

Well, I watched 3 out of 4 of the CSI: New Yorks. I may keep that one. But I may ditch CSI. It’s not been the same without Grissom anyway. I’ve already ditched CSI: Miami. I don’t know if I can give up Criminal Minds.

I know I’ve been kind of rambly, but I have a hard time giving up shows and I’m feeling kind of angsty about it. What about you? When it just gets overwhelming, how do you decide what to give up and what to keep? How do you find the time to watch everything? I would really like to know!

First…if you haven’t checked out my previous post for today, do it! There’s a giveaway! When I scheduled that post, I had forgotten it was the same day as a ROW80 check in day. But I HAD to do it today because, well, it’s my birthday. 🙂

Anyway, back to the subject of this post. I’m a little bit ahead of my cumulative word count. I didn’t do my 30 minutes a day on proofing the print book, but I spent about an hour and a half on it today, so I made up for a few days. I’ve enjoyed this proofing because I had forgotten how much I loved one of the stories in this collection, See Me. It has a little more humor than most of my books. Exercise and housework has been a massive fail. And I have an excuse for this. I got hooked on The Vampire Diaries and was watching several episodes a night on Netflix. That show is addictive. I’m happy to say that I’m caught up now and will only be watching it once a week on TV. I’m watching the original Dark Shadows on Netflix now, but I’m not getting caught up in it, so next week I’ll be taking time to do what I’m supposed to instead of drooling over Damon watching The Vampire Diaries.

Anybody doing better than me on exercise? I hope so!

I used to cry a lot more easily than I do now. I’ve toughened up through the years. But there are still some TV and movie moments that make me tear up, and some that actually make me weep. Here are a few of my moments. There are more, but for the sake of brevity, I’ll limit them. And for those of you that haven’t watched these yet, there may be some spoilers.

1. BuffY the Vampire Slayer: The one that absolutely made me bawl was when Oz left Willow. Oz was one of my favorite characters and I didn’t want him to go. Willow was also a favorite of mine, and I couldn’t stand watching her heart break.

2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer: At the very end when Spike sacrificed himself to “save the world”. Buffy finally says “I love you”. Then Spike says “No, you don’t. But thanks for saying it.”

3. The Vampire Diaries: When Damon tells Elena for the first time that he loves her. He says, “I don’t deserve you. But my brother does.” And he says, “God, I wish you didn’t have to forget this. But you do.” And this big tear falls out of his eye. Then he makes her forget the whole thing.

4. Moonlight: When Beth tells Mick they can’t live in each other’s world and that she “can’t do this anymore”. He walks out and goes down the hall and stops and puts his forehead against the wall like he’s going to cry. She puts her head on her arm against the wall of her apartment and starts sobbing. I thought it was going to end that way. That one actually has a happy ending, but I won’t say how in case someone wants to watch it and hasn’t yet.

These are just a few of mine. What are some of yours? I would love to hear from you!

Sometimes I just like to post things that are fun. I don’t usually get a lot of comments on my eye candy posts, but my stats show that I do get some lookers. 🙂 Anyway, here are my two lovelies for today.

Ian Somerhadler

It took me awhile to warm up to this guy. He plays Damon on The Vampire Diaries, and he was such a ruthless killer at the beginning of the series, I just didn’t see his hotness. I was told by many Damon fans that I would change my mind. I have. I really, really have. So Ian Somerhalder is now on my top five sexy vampires list.

Shamar Moore

Shamar is so good looking he’s almost pretty. His skin is a beautiful color, and those eyes…. He plays Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds, another favorite show of mine.

One of the things these two men have in common, and one of the reasons I put them in the same post, is their beautiful eyebrows. Ian’s eyebrows are so expressive, and he uses that to his advantage often. And Shamar’s eyebrows are shaped so nicely. People think I’m crazy when I say Shamar Moore has beautiful eyebrows, but they really are gorgeous. That’s always one of the first things I notice when I see him.

I hope you ladies have enjoyed the eye candy today!

Okay, okay, I get the Damon thing now. I know I said that I thought Stefan was hotter and I couldn’t understand the obsession so many women had with Damon. But I GET it now. I’m not sure where the turning point was. I can’t put my finger on the exact moment when I suddenly realized Damon was hot. Maybe it happened slowly as I began to see some real humanity come through. He is obviously in love with Elena. I think maybe the moment that it really hit me was when he kissed Katherine, thinking it was Elena. That was such an intense moment that I had butterflies. When I realized that I was actually disappointed that it WASN’T Elena, then I knew I was getting the Damon thing. I do still really like Stefan. I think the two brothers complement each other…dark and light. (On a side note, it helps me a lot to think of these characters as older adults instead of high school kids.)

I know many of you out there want to say “I told you so”. So go ahead. I understand now. LOL

I’m not going to say too much about the constant casual sex among teenagers in The Vampire Diaries, because Kait Nolan and Susan Bischoff covered that awhile back. Let’s just say I agree with them.

One of the things I find lacking in The Vampire Diaries is the wonderful snarky lines from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I know these are two totally different shows, but I miss the humor. I can’t find anything really funny in TVD.

Okay, here’s the biggest thing I don’t understand about the obsession with TVD…Damon. I’m almost finished with Season One, and I STILL don’t like this vampire. He’s a real jerk. In the last few episodes, he has done some surprisingly humane things (not many), but then he turns around and snaps the neck of an innocent person. But women are OBSESSED with this guy. Personally, I think Stefan is better looking and much sexier. Damon isn’t quite as masculine as Stefan. But fans of the show keep telling me to wait and see how I feel about Damon later. So I’m going to give him a chance. When I started watching the Buffy DVD’s, I thought it would be Angel forever. But my friend told me that she would end up with Spike later. I thought that was the craziest thing I ever heard. How could that awful vampire, Spike, ever hold a candle to the sexy, brooding Angel? But guess how I felt about the whole thing later? It was definitely Spike all the way. And I’m seeing some parallels here. Stefan and Angel are both all broody and full of angst about their pasts. Damon and Spike accept themselves as vampires and don’t feel the guilt. There’s definitely a pattern here. So right now, I’m on Team Stefan. But I’m keeping myself open to the possibility that at some point, my focus will be on Damon…like most of the female population. LOL
