I’m sitting here watching, again, my favorite movie, Half Light. I found this movie by accident, or I should say, my husband found it. One time, several years ago, he was in the video store and picked it up, thinking it looked like something I would like. He was right. I later bought the movie on DVD. I was searching through Netflix this morning, looking for a mystery to watch, and I saw it. I had to watch it again.

Why this is my favorite movie:

1. The setting in Scotland is BEAUTIFUL.
2. Even though it’s not scary, it’s eerie.
3. The people in the town are strange and mysterious.
4. The acting is great – Demi Moore and Hans Matheson.
5. There’s a romance between a tortured writer and a mysterious lighthouse keeper.
6. There’s a couple of really strange twists that I didn’t see coming.

There’s so much to love about this movie. My husband doesn’t really like it. It’s not his kind of thing. I absolutely love the mysterious, creepy feel of the movie. It IS my kind of thing.

So maybe you should give it a try. I have to warn you…something very tragic happens in the beginning of the movie, and it’s really bad. So if you can’t handle stuff like that, you better not watch it. But the thing has to happen to set up the rest of the movie. And don’t expect a normal HEA. I wanted to scream at the movie. But there is some satisfaction. The only thing that might frustrate you (it did me) about the movie is that there are a few things that I think were left unanswered. But I think that’s kind of on purpose so you can draw your own conclusions. And there’s a couple of times the townspeople speak in Gaelic, and you never know what they said…unless you speak Gaelic.

Okay, I’m going to unpause the movie and carry on.

P.S. I’ve apparently posted about this movie before because when I was doing the tags for the post, some of the stuff automatically came up, so I’ve used those tags before. LOL

I’ve been very nervous about every aspect of this book. So the cover is no exception. But I think it’s time to let people see the cover of my current WIP, which will also finally give my title away. This is the first time I’ve ever had the title before starting the story. In fact, it was the title popping into my mind that actually started this story. So, without further ado, here is the fabulous Jimmy Thomas, cover model extraordinaire with “the bottle”. And you have to read the book to understand that part. LOL

Also, on another note, the lovely and sweet Emma Meade nominated me for three blog awards. 🙂 I’m also supposed to tell seven things about myself. I’m going to break the chain (sorry) and not nominate seven more people because I don’t want to miss anyone I should tag. Anyway, here are the awards.

And here are seven things about me:

1. My favorite author is Stephen King.
2. My favorite movie is Half Light.
3. I love roller coasters.
4. I’m a coffee snob…I love the good stuff.
5. I have a very strong southern accent.
6. Hubby and I are about to celebrate our 30th anniversary.
7. And here’s the embarrassing story. One time my husband and I were in a restaurant with another couple. I was wearing a black skirt, black leggings, and black boots. The two men got up and went on out to the car, and my friend and I got up to start on out a couple of minutes later. I realized that for some reason, I couldn’t walk. I looked down, and there was my very white slip down around my ankles. My friend and I burst out laughing, and I reached down and pulled my slip out from around my ankles and put it in my purse. My friend and I were laughing so hard, we could barely walk, and it took us forever to tell the guys what had happened.

I have a question for everyone. Is there a movie that you absolutely love, but it’s so unknown that most of us would never have heard of it. If so, what is the movie, and what makes it so special? Why do you like this movie so much?

If I had to pick a favorite lesser known movie, it would have to be Half Light, starring Hans Matheson and Demi Moore. The way I even saw this movie was just luck. My husband was at Blockbuster looking for a movie I might like. Usually, he’s looking for something for himself, but this time he just happened to get something for me. I had never heard of the movie and saw that it had gone straight to DVD. After viewing it, I immediately had to buy my own copy.

Why do I like this movie? Several reasons. It’s really dark, for one thing. There’s a mystery to be solved. It’s set in Scotland. Hans Matheson is really hot in this movie, and the love scene is awesome. (I lusted after Hans Matheson for weeks after watching this movie the first time.) Several weird things happen, and I’m all about the weird stuff. There was just something about this movie that touched me deeply. And this was a ghost story…my favorite kind!

I would love to hear about your favorite lesser known movie!

As of last night, I was 580 words ahead on my word count goal and probably one chapter away from finishing my novella, which is the first in a trilogy. By next check in, I’ll be listing different goals since there will be editing and also formatting for print going on. It’s going to be hard to do goals for that, so I’ll be switching to a “time” goal instead of a “word” goal on Sunday.

On an entirely unrelated note…has anyone seen the movie “Half Light” starring Demi Moore and Hans Matheson? It’s a really dark story involving both trickery and supernatural elements. It went straight to DVD (a long time ago), and when my husband rented it for me on a whim, I loved it so much that I had to buy it. I’ve watched it multiple times. But I can’t find a single other person I know that has seen this movie. If you like dark tales where part of the mystery is left to your imagination, you might like this movie. I loved Hans Matheson in this! Demi Moore plays a writer who has had a tragedy in her life and had to get away for awhile. Hans Matheson plays…well, it’s complicated. LOL
