Well, I’m still off my game. I only exercised two days, and I didn’t write at all this past week. I had big plans to do a lot of writing yesterday, but I had lots of company, and sometimes company is just more important, you know? Writing will wait, but the people in my life have to come first. That’s just the way I roll. And it seemed like every time I had plans to write during the week, something came up. It was just one of those kinds of weeks.
On another note…hubby and I watched Jack Reacher Friday night (maybe that was one of the things that came up, LOL). I really, really loved that movie. I had qualms about seeing it because of the casting of Tom Cruise. Jack Reacher is suppose to be 6’5″ and between 220-250 lbs. All muscle, of course. You can see why Tom Cruise wouldn’t have been my first choice for the role. When I found out who they had cast, I was ALL bent out of shape. But I will admit, he didn’t do a bad job at all. I still would have cast someone bigger and tougher, but Tom Cruise did fine with the acting. I really enjoyed the movie, and hubby did, too.
It’s only two weeks until my vacation. Luckily, we had already paid for everything before hubby’s hospital stay, so we’re able to go. We’ll just have to pay for food, but since we’re staying in a condo (shared with friends), we can buy groceries just like we would at home instead of going out for every meal. We REALLY need this vacation. I need to just let go of all the stress and just enjoy myself for a little while. One thing we’ll have to be careful about is going too long without stopping on the way. We usually stop at least three times during an eight hour trip, but hubby needs to stop more often this time. Long car rides can actually CAUSE blood clots, and we have to make sure the one in hubby’s leg doesn’t get worse. We don’t want any more breaking off and going into his lung now that his lung is getting better. Life seems to be looking up a little now. I want to keep it that way for awhile, at least what we can control.
Lauralynn, where are you and your husband going on vacation?
We’re going to Panama City Beach, FL.
I’m glad you’re getting away on vacation. It’s too bad you’re not making it to the Orlando area. I would suggest we get together for coffee and stuff!
Unfortunately, we won’t be going there. We went to Disney about a year and a half ago, so maybe we’ll be back there someday. 🙂
Wherever you go, the most important thing is that you get relaxing time with your husband!
Despite not getting any writing done it sounds like you had a fun and sociable week. I’m glad your hubby is on the mend – it sounds like you both need that holiday in two weeks so enjoy it.
I did have a great weekend with friends and family. After all we went through with hubby’s illness, we are definitely ready to get away.
I used to feel guilty if I didn’t write every day, but that’s silly. What good does it do us if we put our loved ones aside? Last year, I head of a woman who constantly told her teen son to go do something else whenever he wanted to talk to her and he ended up with a serious illness and all she kept thinking of was how much she wished she could have gone back in time to listen to him when he needed her help. Then I listen to songs like “Cat in the Cradle” and I remember that the priority is family and friends then writing. The balance is still hard for me to find, but I no longer feel guilty if I don’t write for a while. It’s hard to get back into the writing routine when I get out of it, but it’s still worth it in the long run. 😀
I think it’s awesome that you and your husband are going on vacation. I think getting away from it all will do you both so much good, especially after everything you two have been through.
I keep looking back at the time my sons were small and wondering if I spent enough time with them. I hope so. That song “Cat in the Cradle” always makes me so sad.
We do really need this vacation. We always go with another couple and their son, who is 10 this year. We always have fun with these friends. And laying in the lounger under the umbrella on the beach…and READING. What better fun can there be?
