I’m sitting here seriously thinking about participating in #aHeartFitFriday which was started by Erika. I learned about this from my friend, Amber West in THIS post. I actually mentioned my weight on her blog, which was exactly the same as HER current weight, but putting that kind of info on my blog…well, it’s scary. Amber does measurements, too, but I think if I do this, I’ll just stick with the weight info.
I keep thinking, who in the world even wants to hear about this? Then I realized it’s MY blog. I know it’s great to have readers and commenters, but it’s also important to blog about what I want to on my own blog. Right? So, next Friday, you MIGHT start seeing a health related post. You can choose to read it or not. I hope you will, because I know there are a lot of writers and readers out there who neglect their health. I’m trying to really work on improving mine, so if just a tiny bit of inspiration comes through, then that’s great. But, if you choose not to read, then maybe I’ll have something more interesting on other days. LOL

Yay!
So, on whether people will want to read or not, honestly, I’ve found that most of the posts that I think “who wants to know about this??” are the ones people enjoy most. So you never know.
I’m so excited you are joining us!
I have to join for sure if you’re excited. *grins*
It is amazing to see what interests people. You’re right…sometimes you think a post won’t get any hits, and that’s the very one that does. 🙂
Looking forward to hearing about your adventures in good heath! 🙂
Thanks, Juli. 🙂
Good luck with eating being healthier, Lauralynn. So many of us (myself included) really need to make changes, but it’s so hard to do it when you’re the only one you know doing it. My husband has an amazing metabolism. He’s 6’4″ and struggles to maintain 160 pounds. I’m 5’0″ and late last year when I got on the scale and saw I weighed more than him, it really hit home that I needed to do something–and bad. But it’s hard when you’re the only one making changes!
So…my hat is off to you and you’ll have my undivided attention on Fridays with your health posts.
(By the way, my thoughts echo Amber’s, sometimes it’s the posts you think nobody will give a flip about, that get the best response. So don’t be shy! Share the health.)
Thanks for your undivided attention. 🙂 Seriously, I really hope people will read just to get a little inspiration. Plus, it puts pressure on me (in a good way) to keep going so I won’t have to report that I’m not doing well.
I actually weigh more than my husband, who is 6 feet tall. I’m about 5’2″ or 5’3″. I’m lucky in that my husband is VERY supportive. He doesn’t offer me food I shouldn’t have or suggest restaurants where I have trouble being good. This isn’t a total denial of foods I like. Just practicing moderation and leaving off completely foods that aren’t good for me unless I LOVE them. I’m lucky in that I already drink diet sodas, so I won’t have to worry about giving up sugar there. I know there are people who shun artificial sweeteners, but that’s the lesser of two evils when you’re overweight and can’t have sugar. And no one better tell me to “just drink water”. LOL
Awesome! I’m so excited you might be joining!
I second what Amber said. The posts where I put myself out there despite feeling people wouldn’t really care, I’m always surprised by the response.
Fitness is one of those things so many people struggle with and it’s nice to know we’re not alone. Plus, you can always tie it in because healthy you = more creative you, in my opinion. I do my best thinking / daydreaming when I exercise.
Also, I totally understand if you don’t want to do the measurements, but I just wanted to let you know why I’m glad I have been: the weeks the scale didn’t change (or went up :/), my measurements often improved. It’s helped me to stay motivated. For instance, looking in the mirror, I’d think my waist got bigger, when really my bust and hips shrunk. I wasn’t exactly thrilled with that either, but hey, at least I didn’t get bigger. You could always take the measurements and just keep them to yourself, too. I think it’ll be nice to look back on them later.
Anyway, nice to meet you. I look forward to reading your blog more! 🙂
Hi Erika! I’m sorry you didn’t see your comment at first. I have to approve comments when people stop by for the first time. I’m excited about joining up with you guys. I’ve been happy with my progress lately, and I want to continue to be, so accountability is helpful. 🙂 Thanks for giving us a chance to post and be linked! I’m so glad Amber posted about this.
So, I tried to comment, but I’m not sure it went through?
I basically just said:
I’m so happy your joining!
I second what Amber said about never knowing what other people will like to read about.
I totally understand not wanting to share measurements, but I encourage you to still take them just to keep yourself motivated. I’ve never done it in the past, but I was very happy this past week when the only real changes I saw were in my bust and hips, while my weight actually went up. It was nice to know that my waist wasn’t actually getting larger, which is what it looked like in the mirror.
I look forward to getting to know you better! 🙂
See my comment above. Hahahahahaha. I look forward to getting to know you, too! I love my online friends. 🙂
It’s your post. You can post whatever you want. 😀 I actually enjoy your health-related posts. It inspires me to watch what I eat and exercise. I have no idea how much I weigh. I’m too scared to check, but I do go by how my pants fit and what size they are. I’m happy to say my pants aren’t tight anymore. Progress is slow but hopefully lasting.
Ruth, don’t you just love that feeling when your clothes feel looser? My husband bought me a new pair of jeans for my birthday because I had been complaining about how my current jeans were about to fall off of me…literally! He got a size smaller and they fit Yay! I do weigh, though, and I’ll be posting that number on Fridays. Scary!
