It’s 58 degrees outside. 58! We haven’t seen a temp that low in months. I think the high is supposed to be around 87. I’ll take any temp under 90! π
Word count was pretty good this week. Mon-2092, Thurs-1057, Fri-890, Sat-1678. I’m getting close to the end of my WIP. Just a few more chapters. (My chapters are short.) I think I’ve figured out the riddles, thanks to Anya Kelleye and her father. The next chapter I write should involve the riddles unless I think of something else I want to insert. And I think Anya and I have agreed on a cover for it. I’m so picky, I don’t see how she puts up with me. I ended up ditching a picture she had already bought for the cover. It just didn’t work for me. Seriously, when you find a great cover artist who you can work with, you’ve found a treasure, trust me.
I finally finished final proofing on Vampires’ Curse, so as soon as I make the changes, I’ll be ready to format for print. Then I can tell Anya how many pages it is so she can finish the cover.
I got the material cut out for a blouse and the bottom layer of my skirt.
I’ve been a busy bee. I didn’t mention all the boring housework and laundry. Plus the day job. Wait…I guess I did just mention it. LOL
How was YOUR week?
Terrific word counts, Lauralynn….You are really hammering this book out! You’ll be publishing again before you know it.
I’ve only recently been introduced to Anya, but I do love her covers! If she can help with riddles – I’ll like her even better…lol. I admire when people can figure out things like that!
I’ve finally completed the typing – so it’s proofing for me today. Then off to beta readers. Phew…work to be done. :}
As for the cleaning – well – I’ve been slowly getting this house back into working order after a week of company. There sure was a mountain of laundry to be handled. Ha!
Hope you have a great day, Lauralynn!
Thanks, Nadja! I can’t wait to get this published.
Anya is a great cover artist. And so flexible. LOL. And she and her dad really helped with my riddles. I was struggling.
You got everything typed up? That’s great! Ah the proofing. So much fun…not.
I don’t know if I’l ever get this house back into shape! My husband is such a good house cleaner. I don’t know what I would do without him. The house would be much worse.
Yeah, I’m pretty sure any cover artist I manage to hook will end up murdering me. Or really anyone I ever work with for any reason. I go through periods of extreme productivity and extreme not-so-much, matching that with a horrible sort of anal-retentive perfectionist attitude. Then again, I mainly critical of my own stuff, so for all I know I’d thumbs up the artist’s first attempt and we’d get along splendidly.
And great words counts, by the way. Keep at it! π
Thanks, Jeff! I hope I can keep it up until the end of the WIP.
My cover artist is very patient with me. We don’t always agree, but she makes sure I’m happy with the cover before it’s all done. It’s usually just little things that I want changed.
Great work on those word counts! It must be a nice feeling to know you’re so close to finishing your book. Putting the cover on it will be like icing on the cake. Good luck for the rest of the week π
Thanks, Rebecca! I’ll be so glad when this book is done. I like to publish more often than a couple of times a year, so I’m hoping this one will be ready to publish in September. I would love to get something else done for December, but with only three months left, it would probably have to be a novella. We’ll see. π
ooh good word count!
It’s amazingly cooler here too. I’m loving it. Maybe the 108 degrees have left for the season. I hope so.

Thanks! I love summer, but it’s just been too hot this year. We didn’t get quite to 108, but we hit 105 a few times.
Congrats on almost finishing the WIP. Anya’s covers are great.
Hope you try to do some relaxing this Sunday!
Thanks, Emma! I agree…Anya does a great job. She’s so willing to listen to what the authors want. I always relax on Sunday. It’s a day I take off from writing.
Great word counts!! Woo Hoo! And YEA for the Vampire’s Curse π
Thanks, Claudia! I’m almost done. And I’ll be so glad to finally get Vampires’ Curse in print. I don’t sell that much in print, but I want my readers to have a choice if they want a print copy.
Your word counts are marvelous. Count on me to be a cheerleader from the sidelines!
Thanks, Lara! I appreciate the support.
You picky??? hahaha. No, really, I’m good with “picky” authors. I just want them happy with their covers. I enjoy it as you well know. Of course you know I would also never be sarcastic about a particular way something looks though would I? heehee π
By the way, thanks to all of you who said you like my covers. That means I’m doing something right!
I actually don’t think I’m the PICKIEST author you’ve worked with. LOL.
A lot of people like your covers. As you can see.
AMAZING word counts. Well done. π
Hope you have a good week. x

Thanks, Laura!
Great word counts! And how exciting to be closing in on the finish. Hope you are able to get a cover figured out soon. I haven’t done any of that yet, but I think it must be hard to find just the thing. Good luck!
Thanks, Kim! I’ve worked with my cover artist on all my books, so I’m sure we’ve about got it. Sometimes you just know when it’s finally right.
Awesome word counts! It’s always exciting when you’re nearing the end of another book. I’m glad someone could help you with the riddles because I suck at them. LOL
I’ve been editing about 1-2 chapters a day, and today I realized I needed to switch around a couple of scenes and add in a short scene to Bound by Honor, Bound by Love. It was such a pain. I keep thinking the whole book will be one big mess because I’ve swapped scenes around so much, it’s hard to remember what goes where. I’ll be glad when the book is finally out there, though I’m not rushing it just to get rid of it…even though I’d like to. π
It is definitely exciting to get close to the end. And I suck at riddles, too. Now I have to incorporate them into the story, but I’m pretty sure I know how I’m going to do it.
Just when you thought things were done, then you have to swap stuff around. Sometimes our stories just won’t leave us alone! LOL I write in such a linear manner, I usually don’t need to swap things around. My problem is I usually need to expand on things. Sometimes I rush through things I need to take more time with. I know you’ll be glad when this book is DONE and PUBLISHED.
Hi Lauralynn, sorry for my late check-in, I’ve been really unwell.
It’s great to see you still moving ahead and knocking over that word count! (Plus the laundry… I hate the laundry, my sincerest commiserations on that one.)
Covers are hard to do. I only digitally publish so I am finding it’s easier to keep covers simple, otherwise the tiny thumbnails on my iPad are just messes. Good luck with choosing the right one. Take your time. When the correct one comes up, you’ll fall in love with it and it will do well for you, I’m sure.
Keep at it, stay motivated and I’ll undoubtably catch up with you again later.
Cheers, Cate (ROW80)
Oh, I’m sorry, Cate! I hope you’re feeling better.
I finally have the final cover. My cover artist is good at doing a digital cover then making a print cover out of the same one.
Good luck this week!
Oh excellent! That’s a great feeling to have the cover done. π
