I need an intervention. I’m addicted to Words with Friends. And Draw Something. And Solitaire. Stupid iPad. I have to learn to put the iPad down and not pick it up until I’m finished with important things. You know, like writing. And housework. And exercise. I haven’t touched my WIP in a week. I’m disgusted with myself, and I’m determined to get back on track this week. The vacation’s over.
Speaking of vacation, I’m going to Panama City Beach in a couple of weeks. I really hope to get a lot of writing done that week. What better place and time to write…out on the balcony, listening to the ocean, drinking my morning coffee…
My kittens are still as cute as ever and really seem to be happy in their ginormous cage. I’ve watched them climb and play. I let them in the house last week, and I was planning on getting some pics and videos, but they seemed to only want to play under the couch. On the bright side, they do clean out the dust bunnies under there. I had to pick dust off fur and off whiskers. LOL
Hubby and I went to see The Avengers yesterday. Such a great movie! I could definitely see the Joss Whedon influence, especially with all the snarky comments. Of course, Tony Stark was his usually smart a** self. I loved his lines. Of course, I enjoyed the Tony Stark and Thor eye candy. 🙂 I had heard that the Hulk was a scene stealer, and I kept telling my husband I just didn’t see it. But I realized that came later in the movie. The Hulk did a couple of things that even got my husband laughing out loud. If you haven’t seen this movie, you need to go. See it on the big screen, don’t wait for the DVD.
Happy Mother’s Day!
I loved the Avengers movie. The witty comments kept me laughing throughout. Thor’s one liners were hilarious: “he’s adopted” for instance 🙂 Get back to you WIP tomorrow. Enjoy this lovely Sunday with your kittens and iPad.
Oh, Emma, “He’s adopted” was one of my family lines of the movie!
I would love to see it in the cinema, but the whole five kids thing kind of erases any chance we have of getting a babysitter. 😛 I haven’t heard any negativity about that film. Everyone seems to be singing its praises. I cannot wait to see it. 🙂
I hear ya on the iPad. So many lovely forms of time suckage on there. And I’m glad the kittens are settling in. *Is still jealous*
That’s one of the good things about having grown kids…we can do stuff now! 🙂 But I still miss my boys being little.
the iPad is evil. EVIL I tell you. LOL
We’re already talking about the things we’ll be able to do in ten or fifteen years. LOL.
And yes, it really is evil. I’m super addicted to some little retro looking games (and Words with Friends takes up so much more time than you’d think!) Which is why my kids now use it more than I do. The apps for kids are pretty impressive actually. Really puts the commodore 64 we had as kids to shame. 😀
Oh my, I forgot about the Commodore 64! I remember that!
enjoy the sunny balconies:) cats are great at finding the dust and cobwebs I find:( usually when I have guests
all the best
I can’t WAIT to enjoy the balcony. Two weeks from yesterday!
The kittens were so cute with dust bunnies in their whiskers. LOL
Awww so glad you’re kitties are doing great! I’ve put my tablet away (aka, hide it from myself) when I am home, so I am not tempted to play words with friends and can focus on my writing and working out. Just start out small this week, writing a bit each day and soon you’ll be slaying your goals one after the other! 🙂 Good luck this week!
I’m really going to have to be strict with myself concerning the iPad. Writing first, iPad later! I’m going to have to get back on track. The writing used to be easier for me, but this round has been HARD.
Yeah, a vacation! What better way to get some writing done? I hope you make the most of it! And you’re right about watching the Avengers movie at the cinema, it needs a big screen… Have a great writing week!
Thanks, EM! I really need this vacation. And with all the other stress gone, the writing should be easier. I’m usually the first of all of us to get up in the mornings, so I should have at least an hour of peace and quiet.
My son is going with friends to see The Avengers Wednesday. We adore Tony Stark here, too.
I’ve been a bit lax with the exercise here, too. Only three days working out. Sigh.
Logan Steele….heh heh. I would not have made the connection Susan did…but still. Too Funny! I picture a business man with that name. And…this seems to be a pattern with you, Lauralynn…*snickers*… remember your Hunger Games name?? lol.
Yeah, some pattern. LOL. It’s all about the porn stars.
Okay, Lauralynn, I’m here to start the intervention. Pass the iPad over to me. That’s right. Nice and easy. No, no, stop gripping the edge tight with your fingertips. No, no, you can’t just play “one more round.” We are here trying to help you. Look, we’ve got to get this thing moving ‘cause I’ve got to get back to “Angry Birds” and “Stupid Zombies.” Heh, heh.
A temporary vaca with brain fun like games or DVDs or pretty iPad screens is cool. Life happens and those things can bring a measure of relaxation that is good for when we head back in to tackle the WIP. Panama City Beach sounds divine and I hope you get tons of writing done. Just don’t say anything if you see me chilling on the balcony with you. 🙂 LOVE beaches. Also, I’m seeing “The Avengers” after work today and am hoping it is as good as everyone says. I love Robert Downey, Jr.
Oh, Barbara, you’re cracking me up. 😛 Maybe I shouldn’t feel so guilty about a short time off from the WIP. I honestly though it was about two weeks until I looked at my word count spreadsheet and saw it was only a week. I might have needed the time off.
I love the beach, too. Especially the soothing sound of the waves. I like to leave the bedroom door to the balcony open just a crack at night so I can go to sleep hearing it.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed with the The Avengers. It’s worth seeing just for the snarky one liners. Then there’s the action. Awesome.
LOL Solataire is a hard one to walk away from. 😀 Even when you win, you feel the pull for another game.
I haven’t seen The Avengers. Thanks for passing the info on it along. I’ll go see it.
I know! I keep playing it over and over.
The Avengers is an awesome movie!
