After hearing Kait Nolan talk about New U for the Wii, I got all excited and decided to try it for myself. I only had a small snippet of time, so I did the quick workout the first time. Even that was longer than the time I had, so I had to just turn off the Wii before I was finished. Apparently, Kait is in much better shape than I am. Well, you can tell that by looking at both of us, but anyway. Just from the short workout I did, I was sweating profusely. What got me was the Sun Salutation (I think that was the one) because you have to quickly move from a standing position, downward dog, cobra, etc., so you’re going up and down a lot. My body doesn’t do up and down…yet. I even chose the option for people who never did Yoga since it had been so many years ago. At least I have good balance according to my instructor. :0)
What I’ve learned: 1) I’m in TERRIBLE shape (apparently walking on the treadmill doesn’t cut it), 2) I need to always put a floor mat down behind the balance board (my poor knees on hardwood floor!), and 3) I’m going to get in shape or die trying (I’m hoping for the former).
You might try it without the balance board. If you just tell it at the start of the session that you don’t have it, it will take you through the same exercises with just the wiimote (or without, depending). Many exercises, like the sun salutations are incredibly awkward on the board, both because it is so narrow and because it adds a couple of inches of height that make the poses kind of unnatural (IMO). Keep it up! It gets easier with practice!
I might try that. The board really is a pain. Another problem I had with one of the poses is that you have to be holding the wiimote and you had to have part of your weight on that hand. That was very uncomfortable.
I intend to keep it up. I’m trying to make all kinds of lifestyle changes, but not too drastic at once.
You’re still a hottie in my book. But I am glad you’re working out and working on feeling better about yourself. I’m trying and working on the diet but people keep asking me over for dinner and taking me out so I have to be VERY careful.
Just remember you’re a sweetheart in my book and I love you bunches for everything you do for me; I’d love you even if you didn’t do anything for me. I’ll see you in a week and a half so be prepared! I’ll try and bring Kat’s Decision down for you to start on as well.
Ok, Jon, I haven’t been a hottie in years. LOL. I seriously need to lose many, many pounds.
I know you can lose the weight. It’s good that people are asking you to dinner, but just controlling portion sizes is a major step. If the food isn’t the best for you, just eat less of it. I know it’s hard, but I’m working on that, too.
I may not agree about the hottie part, but I do agree about the sweetheart part. Hahahahahahahaha.
So you’re still coming in for the wedding? Cool!
HeHe; I wouldn’t miss that wedding for the world!
I have plans.
And now you’re nervous!
Seriously, with the way things look I don’t know for sure when I’ll be able to get back and I just can’t leave things with my in-laws and you guys. We have to have some good times to go with everything we’ve been through lately. Arlene would want it that way and I sure am not going to make her mad now. She really will haunt me!
Peace; will somebody please buy Memphis Connection.
I resolve to dig out a mat this week. I’m glad you’re doing it too. Maybe I’ll be more consistent if more of my friends are comparing notes. Today I wrote ALL DAY, from the time the school bus left until 15 minutes before it got back.
It’s hard to be faced with how out of shape we are, but I’m loving the idea that you just have to hold still for a minute, not bounce around like a maniac. Because, you know, I bounce, and then my butt has an after-bounce.
Yay on the writing!!!
Susan, I had to do something. I’m so out of shape. Well, I am a shape…round. LOL.
After bounce? Hahahahahahaha.
