I hope everyone is doing well with their goals!
Thursday, I was 611 words ahead of my goal, writing a whopping 2261 words that day. (Ok, that’s whopping for me.) Friday, I went to a birthday party, but I didn’t feel well, so I went straight to bed when I got home. Saturday, I went to a graduation party in the afternoon, and I just didn’t feel like writing. But, today, I wrote 1604 words, bringing me to 715 words ahead of my goal. And the good news, since this is a novella instead of a novel, is that I’m almost finished. So the last part of ROW80 will be used for editing. I think I’ll be done with the writing in a couple of days.
I’m seriously trying to improve my health. I haven’t felt good in awhile, so I’ve been worried about some things. Yesterday, I went to the health food store and got a vitamin/mineral supplement. My husband has started taking probiotics because he heard a doctor say that most bad stuff that happens to your body starts in the digestive system. If your digestive system has problems, then your whole body can have problems. So I’m thinking about taking them, too. Also, I bought some more alkaline water. What I’ve read says that if your body is more alkaline, then it’s harder for diseases to form there. Who knows? For every article that tells how something is good for you, there’s another article that says it’s hogwash. I figure we do the best we can. Exercise and a healthier diet certainly can’t hurt!
So how is everyone else doing? Is there any way I can help?
I’m doing better at my 500 words/day goal. Though last night it was 350. I’m actually sitting down at the computer early today, so I might make it to 1000 words or more before I do my check in tonight.
I’m kind of health food news junkie, so once you get me started on the topic, it’s hard to stop me. I think there are definite good things about supplements and probiotics, but from my voracious reading on nutrition, I truly believe that our energy crisis is due to eating ‘dead’ food. Only raw fruits and vegetables, nuts, seeds and sprouts contain enzymes needed to digest food easily and true life force. Try an experiment. How do you feel after eating a big salad with a lot of fresh chopped veggies, and how do you feel after a big cooked meal? If I wasn’t so into the fiction writing, I’d be evangelizing to the world on this topic!
Ha, Michelle, I knew you were into health food! LOL.
One of the problems with eating big salads, etc., is that I’m really hungry about an hour afterward. That’s actually what I had for lunch Friday. But if I eat a little bread with my salad, it seems to fill me up better. I agree that raw fruits and vegetables are best for you. My biggest problem is that there are very few that I like. Although, I really like raw veggies better than cooked ones most of the time.
It sounds like you’re getting more into the writing routine again. Keep it up. You’ll get that third novella done soon. And I know you’re working on something else. :0)
It’s so true. Everything’s connected. You take better care of your body, you feel better, your mind works better. I absolutely am starting to feel a lot better now that I’m getting my body under control with regular exercise. I have always eaten pretty well (just because I love to cook and I’m pretty health conscious) but it really makes a difference. You get out what you put in, you know?
Let me know how you like New U!
Kait, everything definitely is connected. My husband thinks that the emotional stress I’ve been through lately is contibuting to my not feeling well physically. I’m holding in things I need to let out.
I’m slowly trying to get into better eating habits. It’s hard to do that all at once.
I’m embarrassed to say that I haven’t looked at New U yet. I could make all kinds of excuses, but it’s just laziness. I plan on being more rigid with myself on exercise starting Monday, so that’s probably when I’ll start it. Wish me luck! :0)
Oh absolutely emotional stress contributes to physical ails. No question. Give the yoga a try. I’m betting you’ll feel some better once you do.
Oh, I envy you that time at the end where you’ll only be editing. Lucky, lucky!! Maybe I should have written a novella. 🙂
Probiotics are great and so is yogurt! I get really concerned with my digestive system when I’m pregnant, because everything goes crazy with the hormones. Papaya enzyme works wonders, too. And takes yummy in those little chewable pills.
Good luck with your goals!
Hi Kate. I decided to do a three novella series, and maybe I’ll get back to another novel after that. :0)
My digestive system definitely needs some help. I know better eating habits will make things better, too. I would love to stop taking Prilosec.
Great job on being ahead of your goal! I do hope that you start feeling better soon.
Thanks Michelle! :0)
Woo on the word count. So exciting to be close to the end of a draft.
I’m planning a health kick too because I’ve spent most of this month curled up in a ball during the dreaded editing process. I haven’t exercised, and I’ve lived on coffee and toast with cheese spread for the last three weeks. Writing is unhealthy… or at least, that’s my excuse. 😉
Thanks Claire! I’m glad to be this close to done.
Writing involves sitting on your backside the whole time. And so does my day job. So any exercise I get is exercise I have to make myself do. And my eating habits have been horrible!
