Writing is still going well. I finished the novella for the anthology under the Catherine pen name. It’s not due until late summer, so I’m going to set that aside a little while, then go back to it for editing later. I might add a scene or two at that time, depending how I feel about it after letting it simmer.
I’ve written a couple of scenes in the second Hemlock Ridge Mysteries series under the Catherine name. I actually started that novella with pen and paper since I was at a diner with no laptop with me. Wow, now I remember why I love my computer.
I’m going to try to write the Hemlock Ridge novella and the sequel to Soul of a Vampire simultaneously. I’ve tried to write books that way before and have never been able to. But I love a challenge, so I’ll try once more. I really need a book for both pen names.
I have FOUR proofreading jobs coming to me soon. It’s going to be challenging to write every day while that’s going on. My deadlines on these jobs are going to be tighter than I’ve had to deal with before. What I’m going to try to do is, during the time I’m proofreading, only write about 500 words per day. That will take me 20-30 minutes, and I’m going to take that time if I can. I can’t put my writing completely aside while proofreading like I’ve done in the past. I have an hour at lunch and somewhere around three hours at home (unless my eyes give out sooner). That will leave me about an hour to spend time with my husband. As long as I use my time wisely, I think I can pull all this off. You probably won’t see me online at night for awhile. And housework? Forget it!
That’s about it. I’ll be overwhelmed for the next month and a half, but I’ll get through it. This might just be good for me. š
Good luck with the writing and proofreading, Lauralynn. It’s great to be busy. Hope you’re having a lovely weekend.
I’m hoping with all this work, plus the first Hemlock Ridge book doing really well right now, maybe hubby and I can get all our bills caught up.
Sounds like you have a good plan there. Hope it works out for you.
I might pass out from exhaustion by the end of June. LOL. If it wasn’t for the full time job, I could do this easily. But, alas…. And I just remembered, for five nights in June, I have to teach Vacation Bible School, so that’s going to seriously impact things. The good news is, I’m going on vacation the week of July 5. š
Balance, balance — that’s what we strive for! You have a good plan, and I’m sending good wishes your way. Maybe that writing in a notebook would be a helpful way to catch some writing between the proofreading assignments. Sometimes even a quick note can prompt much writing later. So cherish that time with hubby — and write on!
I hope I can find the balance. It’s going to be worse than I thought because one author was supposed to get the book to me 2 1/2 weeks ago, but she’s having problems. So I might be doing some simultaneous proofreading. And my day job is killing me right now. But I’m tough! š
I hear you about computers. It’s so much easier to write on them than the paper and pencil method.
You can always push back A Groom’s Promise if things get overwhelming. The nice thing about that story is there’s no immediate rush on it. Writing must come first. š
I have friends who swear they can’t write and be creative unless they use pen and paper. I don’t get it.
I think I can get everything done. I already have the first book from the other author and have started it. It’s a pretty clean draft, so it won’t take much work. I should be on schedule for everything.
