There’s really nothing to report today. After the awful travel experience I had Sun-Wed, I didn’t want to do anything but sleep. I wanted to write on Saturday, but my husband wanted to go on the lake on my son’s father-in-law’s boat. We got to spend time with my son, his wife, and his wife’s father. I tried to ski, but the rope handle broke and hurt my hand. ๐ฆ
I really hope I get some writing done next week. The week after that is the RNConvention, and there is going to be so much to do that I won’t have time to write. But, at least most of the time will be spent in classes that should help me as a writer. There’s a costume ball, movie night, bingo (with novel covers as the squares), and a welcome party on the first night. I’m not much of a party animal, so if things get wild, I’m going to my room. I’m there to learn AND to have fun, but some people have a wilder idea of fun than me. LOL. I HOPE I sell all my books at the book fair so I won’t have to have them shipped home.
Oh my goodness, Lauralynn! I’ve been out-of-pocket and didn’t know about the travel ordeal. What a mess! That would’ve made me feel off-kilter for a while. Probably the only writing I’d get done in the days after is letters to airline execs about the fiasco.
Hope the convention goes well for you and that you can get in some writing. When things get really bad, I just sing The Beatles song, “I have to admit it’s getting better, it’s getting better all the time.” And then I hear that background vocal: “It can’t get no worse.” Surely, this next week will be good! *crossing fingers*
Thanks for mentioning the Beatles song. Because the Beatles always make everything better. ๐ It was quite an ordeal, but it’s over. I just hope the flight to the RNConvention goes better. At least it’s a different airline. LOL
I hope you’re able to get some writing done. *fingers crossed*
Good luck on selling the books. Having to ship them back would be a pain.
LOL on not being a party person. I’m not either. But I take it a step further and don’t even go to the costume balls and whatnot so you’re more adventurous than I am. ๐
I think the costume ball will be fun. I just hope it doesn’t get wild. I think it will be neat to see what everyone comes up with for a costume. I probably won’t stay the whole time it’s going on. I’m not shy, but I’m introverted enough to experience sensory overload if there’s too much going on. ๐
I truly believe that taking a moment (which is whatever length of time is required) to breathe and regroup after a swirl of chaos is necessary for most of us–especially so for the creative mind. Hopefully the coming conference will restore and refresh your writing spirit and have you back happily at the keyboard soon. Have a fantastic week!
You’re probably right, Gene. And I do hope the conference will recharge me because I’m not as enthusiastic as I used to be. I know part of that is due to lagging book sales, but I’ve heard a lot of authors say book sales are slow. I guess we’re having to share sales with a lot more authors than we used to.
No party animal?? Wha???? *snicker* I’ll party for both of us. ๐
Seriously, I hope the classes are good for both of us. Looking forward to it! Not long now. Only about 8 days now that today is almost over. ๐
Yeah, because you’re such a party animal yourself. *winks*
I think the classes will be great. It looks like Jimmy has put a lot of thought into them.
Lauralynn. I’m just plain going to send you loads of good karma. And it had better work, too! x
Thanks, Sandra! I can use all I can get. ๐
I’m on holiday now myself. No planned costume ball planned, but now I’m hankering to get a costume and drive to my friends houseโin costumeโand start my own costume ball.
You know, I can picture you doing that….
Ouch to the travel hell, best of luck to the writing in the week ahead, and hey… you sound so blue and I want to send a cuddle and say, try to enjoy the conference. How crazy can book-cover bingo get? ๐
