The last round ended up during a time that was very difficult for me in many ways. I won’t go into all of that since most of you know what all happened. But it’s time to move on and get my writing mojo back. 🙂
This round starts at kind of a hard time since I’m out of town on business for the next three days. But there’s absolutely no reason I can’t write at night after all the lectures and receptions and networking. I have nights to myself here in my room, so there’s no excuse not to write.
My main goal is to write one hour per day, five days a week. Some days that might be 250 words, some days it might be 1,000. I’ve worked better with time goals rather than word count goals, although I will be keeping up with word count on a spreadsheet. I would really like to finish my WIP during this round.
My secondary goal is to get Soul of a Vampire out in print. This should have been done already. I think I already have it formatted (it’s been so long, I forgot if it’s finished), and Anya already has my cover ready. So this goal should be easy to achieve. I don’t rush the print versions because they don’t sell nearly as well as the ebooks, but I do have one reader that always waits on the print version. I would put it out in print for that person alone.
My non-writing goal is to keep my blood sugar at the proper levels through diet and exercise. My MAJOR goal would be to no longer require insulin shots, but that might possibly be out of my control. My doctor says it doesn’t happen often, but it DOES happen. We shall see.
I wish all of you a GREAT Round One and hope you all meet your goals. 🙂
Good luck.
Thanks, Emma!
Yes, good luck, may the force be with you
Yes, I need the force!
I hope this round is better than the last one. How far did you get in your current work in progress? i’m looking forward to finding out more about it. My interest is piqued from what you teased us with a while back. 😀
I only got a little over 5K into it before everything fell apart. I wrote about 750 words last night, but I’m still not feeling the story like I should. But when I look back on my previous works, I realized that I always feel this way at first. So maybe there’s hope for this one. i really don’t want to disappoint my husband since this was his idea.
Congrats on your goals! I find that time goals work better for me as well, when my life is on the busy side. Good luck to you and good health! 🙂
Thanks, Juli. Time is less pressure, I think. Because there are some days I just sit in front of the computer barely able to type anything. Then some days, my fingers fly. With a time goal, I know I at least put forth an effort, no matter how many words I actually write.
yes sometimes a time limit works better than word counts – if a ‘time’ produces gold even better – look afterself and best of luck with all you wish:)
I agree, Alberta, that time goals are much better. Thanks, and I wish you the best as well.
2013 is going to be great! Best of luck getting your writing groove back. 🙂
Yes, 2013 will be a great year! I’m ready to write.
Good luck with your goals this round. I keep going back and forth between time and word goals, As long as I sit my but down in the morning to write, then time is on my side and I get things done. Now if I could just get up an hour earlier. 🙂 Keeping my fingers crossed you can control your blood sugar through your diet and exercise. Happy writing this week.
Thanks and good luck with your goals as well. I’m working on that blood sugar. 🙂
All the best with your goals, Lauralynn . . . both writing and managing your health issues. We’d love to cheer you on over at the ROW80 Fitness group on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/119487451535625/
Thanks, Steph! I need to check out that FB page.
Gawd, I haven’t even made it through Monday’s ROW80 posts, let alone today’s. Eeek – I suck?
I’m sure my blood sugar if through the roof too – I survived through Christmas on German sugar cookies, nut brittle, and fudge. My Zumba DVDs mocked me from the DVD shelf. Here’s to us – may we do better in 2013! 😉
It’s hard to get through all the posts. One of my goals is to get more organized with blogging, commenting, AND writing.
I found out about my diabetes BEFORE Christmas, so I didn’t eat any sweets during the holidays. I didn’t really miss them, though. It’s the fats that I’m having the most trouble controlling. It’s amazing how much fat is in the foods we normally consume! Bleh.
