This week is starting off a little better. Monday, I only wrote 361 words, but last night I managed 505. I’m still not sure how to fill in the blanks on this story. It might end up being a novella instead of a novel. I’ve been trying to write novels instead of being the queen of novellas, but this one may not make it. We’ll see. It will be as long as it wants to be.
I went to the gym Monday and Tuesday, doing cardio only. As I posted earlier, I’m going to focus on cardio this week and then see how it goes with weight work. When I go at lunch, there’s a time constraint, so I might have to change the times of my workouts.
How are ya’ll doing? (Yes, I’m from the south.)
I love to hear people say ‘ya’ll’ reminds me of Friday Night Lights 🙂
I loved to hear Lucas Black talk in the movie. I also loved to hear him in Sling Blade. My accent isn’t that strong, though. LOL
The story may surprise you and end up a novel yet. I know that my stories get longer each draft I do, especially since I always kinda RETCON my work because it takes me a few times to see the whole story.
Congrats, on getting your cardio in this week. Things like that get easier to do once you get a schedule set up, and then you even miss it when you miss a workout.
It might turn out to be a novel, I’m not sure. Soul of a Vampire was going to be a novella, and it turned into a novel
Yep, gotta keep up that cardio. Then add weights. 🙂
Btw, I’m still not getting your blog posts through email, so I just thought you weren’t posting (I should have known better). It turns out I must not have confirmed my subscription. Hopefully, I’ll get the email now.
Three hundred words is amazing. Don’t sell yourself short.
Have a great week. x
Thanks, Laura. I just got so used to having 1000 word days with my last book. But all books are different, so I guess it’ll be okay.
Good days and bad days happen (and I have to also learn to take my own advice.) Give yourself some credit for getting any writing done. So many people say they are going to write a book and that’s all they do. Talk about it. Think how far ahead you are of those people. x
You’ll get there with this book, Lauralynn! Just keep sitting down with it, and in a few days you’ll get rolling. 🙂
I hope so, J.R.! I’m going to sit there until something happens. 🙂
Any words are better than none! Writing short has always been a challenge for me. My novels are 120k and 140k – and they’re not epic fantasy. I’m trying to keep the NaNo novel short, but it’s hard telling how that will work out. Good luck with your workouts – starting small is what works best for me, too!
Writing long is a challenge for me. LOL. And you’re right…any words are better than none. This one just might be slower. Good luck with NaNo!
Awesome on the cardio!
I hear you on the length of the book. It’s hard when you want it to be a certain length and you’re not sure if it’ll make it. Also, I hear you on the word count. I think it’s hard when you have to get from one point to another but need that connecting scene and are not sure how to make it interesting.
Yes, exactly…the connecting scenes.
