I wrote 834 words this week. I wrote one day. I kept having “reasons” not to write.
I worked out one day this week. Is there some kind of one day theme here?
I’m a total slacker. Please don’t try to tell me it’s okay. Don’t try to make me feel better. KICK MY BUTT. Seriously, that’s what I need right now.
I had trouble this week too. Work out what’s holding you back and then go for it! You CAN do it.
I know I can, Cate. So why didn’t I? LOL. I guess we all have bad weeks. I just get so mad at myself when it’s laziness on my part.
Sometimes your body and brain just screams, give me a break. It’s hard to know which is which. *sigh*
I was in slacker mode yesterday, but so far, November is going well for me.
In some cultures, the start of November was the start of the “new year.” Even in nature, the leaves are pretty much done doing their thing, etc. The temps are dropping. You can feel the changes in the air.
I started using November as a time to make my “new year’s resolutions” several years ago. I don’t know why, but this month works better for me than January, but then again, I’m kind of a seasonal kind of gal. January 1st is too cold and dreary of a month to do any self-butt kicking! LOL
Take care! Today is a new day!!!!!!!!
I’m glad November is going well for you, Juli. I hope November ends up better than October for me. Maybe I should think of November as a new start, too. Well…November 5. LOL
Pfffftttt!!!!!!! You didn’t know that November was the “other” New Year so you’re TOTALLY excused!!! 🙂
Ah, those pesky “reasons” that hold us back from writing. I am quite familiar with those. 😛
Sounds like some of those reasons may have been excuses? If so, maybe try to chuck ’em out the window this week. You’ve had a slacker week, which we’re all allowed, but now it’s time to get back into gear! (This is me with my drill sergeant, butt-kicking hat on, lol).
Good luck getting back in the swing of things, Lauralynn!
Some of the reasons were legitimate. But most were excuses. And, yes, I need to chuck them out the window. I love you being the drill sergeant. I need that. 🙂
Get you ass in gear. Only joking 🙂 It’s the weekend, time to relax.
Oh no, Emma, don’t be joking. Your first sentence is what I need. 🙂 I do take Wednesdays and Sundays off from writing since those are church days. But, unfortunately, I took six days off this week. LOL. I need to seriously get down to business next week, both in writing and health goals.
The first part of helping yourself, is admitting the problem. You’ve done that. Now just park your butt in front of your computer and write. You’ve done it before, and you’ll get right back into it. I’d challenge you to a weekly word count battle, but I’m in the middle of edits, so no writing only correcting for me 🙂
You’ll be fine, subconsciously you needed a vacation. Everybody does from time to time, I wish I could take a break from editing
Thanks, Hubbard. I do need to get my butt back in that chair. Good luck with your edits. And take a break when you need to! 🙂
Sounds like you’re beating yourself up plenty. I’m not going to join in. lol. Just make sure it doesn’t happen again this week! One day at a time. Remember you’re focusing on time spent on writing, not a specific word count goal, so think about where you’re going to fit in those 30-60 minute blocks now, before the week gets away from you. 🙂
Yeah, I’m beating myself up pretty well. You’re right, I just need to make sure it doesn’t happen this week. I’ve already got someone asking me for help with something Tuesday night. I’m just going to have to put a time limit on my help and tell her I have to be home in time to write for an hour. Since I work out during lunch, after work is the only time I have to write. A lot of that after work time is spent watching stuff that hubby and I watch together on the DVR. I think there’s about three shows that I’m going to give up for the sake of time. I hate it, but there’s just too much to watch and not enough time to do it.
Go put your work-out clothes in the car now! 🙂 And make sure you MS is in your dropbox folder ready to go for when you have a chance to write.
Suck it up and keep going! 😉
And bring me my bookmarks tomorrow! hahahaha
My workout clothes ARE in the car already. 🙂 And my WIP is in Dropbox. I have to do better this week.
I’m getting your bookmarks RIGHT NOW! Thanks for reminding me. 🙂
Time to get going! I need a kick in the pants, too! 😉 It’s a new week. Here’s to a fresh start.
A fresh start! That’s exactly what today is going to be! 🙂
Consider your butt kicked (by someone sitting in a chair who hasn’t done any writing or exercising in like…I think…a week or two). LOL I don’t know how motivating I can be since even now I’m doing emails and watching TV.
Any butt kicking is welcome. And, see, if you kick my butt, at least you’re doing some kind of exercise…figuratively. Hahahahaha
