Most of you know I just released Soul of a Vampire. This is the thirteenth work I’ve released (although two of the releases are compilations of some of the others), and I still get all excited when I release something new. Keep your fingers crossed for me. And don’t forget to enter the giveaway on my blog!
Now on to the next project. I finally started looking over the notes my husband and I made last May for a book idea that came into his head. Some of you will remember that my husband suddenly had this awesome idea for a book, and I told him I would write it for him. We brainstormed on the way to Florida when we were going on vacation. I think the way I’ll handle the author credit on this book is to put both of our names on it. Or say Lauralynn Elliott with Jim Elliott…something like that. Anyway, after going over the notes and getting a rough outline, I know how this book starts and ends. I have several points for the middle, but a lot of those will be filled in later. I’m excited and scared because I’ve never collaborated with anyone before, and I certainly never thought it would be my husband I would write a book with. My plan is to write at least one hour a day, five days a week on this. We’ll see how that goes.
Hey, that sounds like a good plan. So glad your hubby is taking a bigger interest in your writing now. π
He used to think it was just a hobby…until i started making money. LOL
13! That’s a lot of work and quite an achievement. You should be very proud of yourself.
And good luck with the new project.
Thank you, Emma. It IS a lot of work. You know that, as an author yourself. π
I’d be worried if you didn’t get excited over a release. π Congrats on the new release. I can’t imagine writing with someone else, especially the significant other. It’ll be an adventure for sure! Good luck π
Thanks, Ryan. I’ve sold two whole copies already. Hahahahaha.
It will be different collaborating with someone else. But at least he won’t be doing any of the actual writing. Just inputting ideas as we go. The initial idea was completely his.
So that’s your secret! I need to start making money with my writing! Do you think if I place a hat on the sidewalk and start writing poems on the spot for a dollar I’ll get a little more support from the other half? LOL
LOL, Jess. It really took a long time for him to come around. He probably thought this was something I would play around with for awhile, then quit. You know, kind of like I do with weight loss. π But after four years, he’s finally started to take this seriously. Of course, the way book sales are right now, I might have to take to the sidewalk with the hat, too.
Congratulations on number 13! I just love the feeling of publishing a new book. It’s fun to see one more on the bookshelf, isn’t it?
It sounds like this idea your husband has is an exciting one since you have planned out so much of it. I look forward to hearing more about it. π
It does feel good. Now I need to get the sales going! LOL. I know I have to be patient. It usually takes each book awhile before sales start going well. I’m just worried because book sales seem to be pretty rough for all of us lately. I’m SO looking forward to the usual after Christmas book rush. π
Hubby had a really good idea. This one is going to have a religious/supernatural theme (and a romance). So we’re going to have to put a disclaimer at the front of the book letting everyone know this is just fiction, and is not at all in keeping with our religious beliefs. LOL
The disclaimer is a good idea. Then if people complain, they can’t say you didn’t warn them. LOL
Sales are awful compared to what they were. I’m really hoping the Christmas and New Year thing kicks things into gear. *fingers crossed for all of us*
