I just have a few minutes. I’m on my way soon to a birthday party for a one year old little girl. That ought to be fun! Then, tonight, my oldest son and his wife are coming for a visit. So this will be a busy day. But a good kind of busy. π
I had a pretty rough start with Round Two, but that’s because I was writing the WRONG STORY. I posted about this a couple of days ago. The story I was trying to write wasn’t working for some reason. Then, suddenly one morning, this other idea started coming to me. THIS was the story I was meant to write. So things are going much better now. I managed to write 1247 words Friday and 843 words Saturday. I’m still behind because my goal was 700 a day, and I’m still counting those first four days I was struggling with a different story, so I was four days behind before I started this story. I’ll have to admit, I’m once again writing about a vampire, but that’s what came into my head, so I have to write it. And the title came to me as soon as the story did. That has only happened to me once before, and that was my short story, The Beast in the Mirror. I usually struggle a lot with titles.
I actually had an idea for my next scene on the Christian romance, so I’ll be writing that at lunch on Monday.
I hope everyone is having a great day, and I hope I can get to some of your blogs in between all the stuff I have to do today. π
Sometimes you have to go with what inspires you most! Great job on the word count π I also really like your title.
Yes, it’s bad to try to write a story when another one is calling your name. π Thanks a bunch!
So you missed a couple days.. just add a few to your progress and you’ll be caught up in no time! I know… easier said than done..
And hey.. if you are once again writing about a vampire, I guess vampires are your thing! π
Take it easy Lauralynn!
I shouldn’t have too much trouble catching up. I’ve always liked vampires, but I really love ghosts. And I heard two different authors say the other day.”I’m so tired of vampires….” LOL But I didn’t jump on the vampire bandwagon when everyone else did. I was a Dark Shadows fan when I was 7 years old!
Always follow your inner voice. Personally, I’d scrap the first four days and give myself a fresh start from the beginning of the current project. Why start out something fresh and inspiring feeling behind? Especially when your word counts are fantastic moving forward from that point.
Enjoy the celebrations and visits. Have a great week, Lauralynn π
Gene, I agree…that inner voice is very important. I haven’t completely decided if I want to start fresh or try to catch up. I’m not one of those people that get all discouraged when I get behind. I just push it up a bit. But since my word count goals are higher than last time, I might not be able to catch up quickly. So I may have to redo my spreadsheet. π
Oh, enjoy the busy day, Lauralynn! Isn’t it funny how an idea seems to come to you, but then sits down in the middle of the road and refuses to budge?!? I’m glad you found another idea waiting to pounce; that proves that it is the right one. π
It’s been a great day so far. Now it’s almost time for church and getting to see my son.
This idea definitely would not move out of the way. And I didn’t really try to move it. I just went with it. π
If something isn’t sparking a fire in you, it’ll never hold a reader, so good job following the story that’s speaking to you. All in all, it sounds like a good first week. Have a blast at the party. All the best for the upcoming week π
That’s a good point, Raelyn. And I really didn’t feel that fire for the first project.
Thanks!
