This post will be a lot more positive than the last one. I FINALLY got past my problems with my WIP! Yay! After much brainstorming Monday night at dinner with my friend and cover artist Anya Kelleye, things started to come together. Sometimes you just have to talk it out with someone. Plus, she had a lot of good ideas to add.
My Christian romance is going well. I wrote 1240 words on it yesterday during lunch. I’m not setting any cumulative goals, but I’m shooting for writing at least 500 words on it when I do get to work on it. I’ve exceeded that each time.
Exercise has been good. I think I posted on Sunday that I went bike riding on Thursday and Friday. Sunday night, I walked about 30 minutes on the treadmill. Yesterday, I walked almost an hour in the park where I bike ride. I would have ridden, but I had a friend who needed to talk. And I’m feeling much better physically and mentally.
How are the rest of you doing? I would love to hear about it.
Yay! Good job!
Thanks, Kait.
So glad I was able to help you brainstorm. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Kudos on your exercising. You are doing so good. Hope your friend is feeling better being able to talk to you. It really helps to talk things out with your friends.
I appreciate the brainstorming help, Anya. I just need to apply butt to seat and hands to keyboard, and I think I’ll get it.
I feel so much better exercising. I hope you’re enjoying your class. 🙂
Oh yeah, really enjoying my Kisado class. We learned more self-defense moves last night. Awesome!
Sounds like you’re doing great with your goals! Great job! Keep it up!
Thanks, Fallon!
yay Lauralynn!! Woot! Good job.. especially on the exercising. I am banging out everything EXCEPT for that..
Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Darlene. The exercise was what I was struggling with the most, but it’s coming together. You just have to DO IT. Once the habit is formed, it gets easier.
oh, i love when that happens! major congrats. a little bit of time and some hard work always wins 🙂
Thanks, Gina. I’m so glad I had this breakthrough on my WIP. It really helped to talk it out with someone.
Sounds like you’re doing great, Lauralynn, which is…GREAT! I love how sometimes, all you need to get yourself back into gear is a good friend with some open ears. It’s usually after a night out with my friends and a little bit of plot hashing with my roommate that a downturn starts heading up again. Keep it up! So good to hear that you’re pumping things out.
Thanks for the encouragement, L.S.! I’ve worried and worried about this, so I’m glad it finally came together.
Yes, yes! The Brainstorming Buddy Safety Net (BBSN)! Don’t leave home without it!
Or… rather… I guess it usually requires leaving home to take advantage of it.
Still, I’m not sure I could write without having that one person to bounce ideas off of. I feel bad for “ruining” the story for them sometimes, but generally still find ways to hide little surprises for them. I suppose it comes from not having enough confidence in my own crazy ideas. But, honestly, some of them are blatantly crazy and need to be shot down. And squished. And set on fire. And…
BBSN….I love that. Hey, Lauralynn we have an acronym for our collaborations! hahaha! Good one, Matt!
Squished and set on fire? *laughs maniacally*
Since Anya is my cover artist, she sometimes reads my work in installments anyway, so it doesn’t ruin it too much. She likes to read early so she can get some good ideas for the cover. She’s really great and supportive, so she’s the obvious choice to bounce ideas off of. And she WILL tell me if the ideas are ludicrous or if the story gets boring. I do occasionally talk about the ideas with my husband, but he doesn’t read much. He watches a lot of TV, though, so he can make suggestions on those action scenes. LOL
I love talking about my novel with others who just get you… It really helps to motivate me…
Hi Audrey! Yes, it definitely helps to talk things out with those kinds of people. Sometimes your circle of friends just don’t get the writing thing, so it’s great when some of them do. 🙂
Hey Lauralynn – hope I don’t end up in your spam again 😦 Thanks for a double stop-by. You are doing so well with your WIP or so it sounds. And you shame me with your fabulous physicality. I’m a couch potato – hate all forms of exercise. Fortunately, since I stopped my psych meds I have returned to a tiny appetite, otherwise I’d look like an air cushion. 😛 Good luck for the week ahead 🙂
Nope, you’re officially “approved” now. LOL
I LOVE being a couch potato. Writing, reading, playing computer games, watching TV…. But I know it’s not good for me to be this way, so I make myself exercise. Lately, anyway. 🙂
Who knows, you might find SOME exercise you like to do. I wish I had a tiny appetite. So…is everything ok with you?
