I’ve written nothing. I hope to change that tonight. I should actually have the final scene of the last Libby Fox written up tonight, so I should be wrapping up that first draft.
These are the three things I need to do immediately.
1) Finish the Libby Fox novella, do my first edits and proofreading, and get it sent out to beta readers.
2) Upload my files for Starfane to CreateSpace. (I have no idea why I haven’t done that yet!)
3) Upload my free short story to Smashwords and other places that allow free. A little glitch in this project is that a beta reader wanted me to expound on some things in the story. The point to this story was to be short, sweet, and free. But she loved the story and wanted a little more, especially in a couple of areas. Now my question is…do I spend the time to make the changes or not? Really, even though it’s free, the story should be the best it can be, right? So what if I have to wait a little longer to put it out there. If I can make the story better, I should. Hmmm, I think I just made my decision! π
Thanksgiving
I don’t know what I’m going to do this year. My mom decided to take off to Ohio to visit with her brothers. My oldest son is married now and lives a hour away. He has to work Thanksgiving evening, so he won’t be coming over. My brother is going to go to Ohio to pick up Mom, so he won’t be here. My youngest son will be at his girlfriend’s house most of that day. My husband and I have been invited to Atlanta to his brother’s. But I WANTED to cook! π¦ Maybe I can have everyone over after Thanksgiving. But I’m really a little bummed about everyone being gone. I’ve just gotten used to cooking for everyone on Thanksgiving.
Why haven’t you uploaded those files? Probably because the new thing is always the scariest — I always put those off, too. It won’t be as hard as you think (I hope!). I’m super excited to read the last Libby Fox and see how things turn out with Libby & Adam.
It seems like as soon as you feel great about your holiday traditions, they change on you. But you’ll have a great time, wherever you are, and you know your far off family will be thinking of you, too. π
J.R., I already have one paperback on CreateSpace. But it’s still scary to do it because you wonder if there’s that one thing wrong with the formatting. LOL.
I hope you’ll be satisfied with the conclusion of the Libby Fox series. Adam and Libby have definitely had their share of problems, haven’t they?
What did you think of the part of my post about the short story? Hahahahahahaha,
As my children get older, I kind of expect to have to work around their holiday schedules. But it doesn’t look like I’ll be cooking on Thanksgiving at all. Maybe if I go to Atlanta, they’ll want me to bring something. π
Ok so yeah why haven’t you uploaded Starfane yet? Get out there in time for people to order for Christmas! π
I can’t read to see how Libby and Adam’s story ends either! Especially if you want that book cover. Heehee.
I think you need to make sure your short story is the best it can be. Just because it’s short doesn’t mean it should be short on quality. What if this is the first story someone reads by you? You want them to like it so they will want to buy your other books!
Oh and if you just have to cook for Thanksgiving you can always come help me! π
I’ll get Starfane done this week! π
I’ve been pondering on the ending of the last Libby Fox. I know what I want to happen…I just need to work out the particulars.
I think the short story is good how it is. But if it can be better, then it needs to be. The only reason I didn’t want to do much more on it is because I’m feeling so overwhelmed by trying to get Libby finished plus all the other stuff I need to do.
Um, I was really thinking about cooking at home…hee hee.
Thanksgiving? Relax! I’m more worried about what you are going to do for Christmas! LOL
By the way; got the new laptop, still in the learning and getting to know you stage, look forward to something new soon.
Peace
Jon, don’t make me think about Christmas yet!
What kind of laptop did you end up getting?
A little mini-thanksgiving after Thanksgiving sounds like a great idea if you still want to cook, but I’d enjoy the little break! Granted, I’ve never been much for cooking big meals like that; I’m just hanging out at my roommate’s family’s get-together since my family all lives eight hours away, and all I do is bring champagne and bake cookies.
As far as the free story, might as well give it a try! If the changes make the story better, you’ll be glad you did. If they don’t quite work, you’ve still got the first version to use. Although it sounds like you pretty much came to that conclusion, anyway. π
And I can’t wait until I finally read the post that says the novella is finished, Lauralynn!
I love to cook. I just never have the time. That’s why I like to do it on special occasions where I pretty much have all day. Now if I can only figure out how to get all the food to be done all at the same time. LOL
Thanks, L.S. I can’t wait to finish the last novella of this series. I think after this, I’m going to concentrate on full length novels again. Slow and steady instead of “Quick, I need to get this publshed!” π
try a new version, still have the original if the new try imprisons the peice – relax into the not cooking have a feast for another occasion when everyone is there – all the best for coming week
I’m definitely going to give the new version a try. My beta reader is someone I trust a lot, and she’s always honest and logical about things. So if she says it needs more, it probably does. π
Thanks, Alberta. I think I’m going to take your advice and relax and not worry about whether I cook or don’t cook. There’s always another day.
