As of last night, I was more than 2,000 words over my cumulative goal of 500 words per day. That means I could goof off for four days and not be behind. :0) But I’m not going to do that, I promise. But it does allow me to take a day off here and there in case I need to. I like to get ahead so that I won’t be behind if things happen that are beyond my control.
Also, as I stated in my last post, I put three of my books on All Romance Ebooks website (I hope to get the rest of them on this week). As of last night, I had already sold three copies. If you are thinking about doing this, you might want to check out yesterday’s post to see the mistakes I made so you won’t repeat them. LOL
I have Haunted Lake pretty much formatted the way I want it for print. I just need to change the font on the chapter headings. I found a nice little “cabin on the lake” graphic to put on the title page, so that was cool. Mostly, all I lack now is printing it out to see how it will look and going over it again to make sure there are no errors. And I’m also waiting on my cover designer, Anya Kelleye, to do the cover. She’s really busy with something else right now, but when she gets started, she’s quick. And good. :0)
How are the rest of you doing?
Great job! I like that you make time for those unplanned things that can creep up out of nowhere 🙂 I wish you continued success! And a day off sounds lovely 🙂 Enjoy!
Marie
Thanks, Marie! And there are often unplanned thing that creep up. I almost took last night off since I was ahead, but I had no excuse. I just wanted to play a game. LOL. So maybe later.
I prefer to plan ahead as well. I think that’s such a great attitude to look at the extra you’ve done as a safety net rather than as an excuse to slack off. ROW80 is a great motivator for us all.
Hi Marcy! You know, if I get way ahead, it’s almost like saving up days for a vacation. :0) You’re right about ROW80. It’s made me more productive than anything else I’ve ever done.
Sounds like you’re kicking Goal Buttkiss. Well done, and good luck the rest of the week! :o)
Thanks, Cate! I hope I can keep it up!
Oh, man, great job on getting so much done! Definitely keep with the momentum! (And colour me envious, heh!)
Thanks, L.S.! I hope I can keep the momentum. :0)
You’re doing great! That’s awesome!
It always helps to know you can take a day or two off without hurting your goals. I should try that. 🙂
Thanks for the support, J.R.! It’s nice to build up a cushion of words so you can take a day off if you need to. It’s worse to take days off BEFORE you build any up, then you feel like you’re playing catch up.
Looks like you’re doing well with your goals, too. Thanks for stopping by my place.
Reading the comments, I’m with you on the notion that it’s like you’re saving up “vacation time.” It’s a great way to remind yourself that even professionals get time off for good behavior.
Well, Matt, I don’t know about the “good behavior” part. LOL
Oh, congrats! I, too, like to get ahead, but lately I haven’t been doing that….sigh.
I’m going to check out that post you mentioned.
Thanks, Laurel! Sometimes we do get behind, but I’m trying to avoid this in round 3.
You really should check out All Romance. Within a couple of days, I sold 9 books, and to be honest, I wasn’t really expecting to sell much there. I know 9 is not a lot, but for two days, it wasn’t bad for a venue that’s not as big as something like Amazon.
Sounds like you and I are on about par with out progress – same word goal, and I am a few thousand ahead of where I need to be as well (always handy for a rainy day). Great work…. ps awesome news on the All Romance front too.
Thanks, Jody! I just hope I can stay ahead. So far, so good.
I’m happy with All Romance. I’ve sold 17 books in three days, which isn’t Amazon numbers, but it’s still money in my pocket and more exposure. And I think their website looks great.
Woohoo, congrats! 2000 words ahead of your goal is awesome!! Keep up the great work!
Thanks, Lisa! I really want to stay ahead. I appreciate your support.
Hi Lauralynn! Amazing progress. That extra word count is like money in the bank- it’ll build interest the closer you get to your deadline! 🙂 I really need to take a lesson from you and make some extra word count deposits instead of just making deadline each week!
Thanks, Vicki. I do try to write more than my word count goal each time so I have that cushion. Like today, I have a migraine coming on, and I don’t know if I’ll get to write. All I want to do is lie down and whine. LOL. I had to make myself get off the couch and check my email. For times when I’m truly sick (not just being lazy or tired), I can take a day off and not feel guilty.
