I didn’t get much editing done like I planned, but I did get some done. We were just getting in too late every night and I can’t write when I’m tired and sleepy. The editing I got done was one afternoon when I had free time, and I got a few chapters editing. The good news is that when I was reading over it, I didn’t feel like it needed the major overhaul I was afraid it would. Someone had already told me that, but I wasn’t sure. LOL
I’ve really had a good time in NYC, even though I didn’t get to see the things I wanted to. All the brunches, lunches, and dinners have been great and everyone here has been so gracious. I think there’s a misconception in the south that people in the north are rude and unfriendly. This is not true! (Except maybe when they get behind the wheel, LOL.) I got to see the Queen’s Botanical Garden yesterday, and they are VERY green there. I wish I had time and space to elaborate on that. I was supposed to go to the NY Botancial Garden this morning, but I woke up with a migraine and didn’t make it. 😦 I’m going home this evening, and I’ll really be glad to get back to my hubby whom I’ve missed terribly.
I hope everyone else is doing well!
Oh, I envy you the trip to NYC. Would love to do that! And isn’t it wonderful to realize that major edits are not needed?
Thanks for visiting my blog.
Hi, Laurel. I only see one possible problem with the novella, but I have one person who thinks I should fix it and someone else who thinks it’s not a problem. I can’t decide. LOL.
ROW80 rocks, doesn’t it?
Sounds like you had a great time on the whole. Sorry about the migraine though. Ick.
I think most people overestimate the damage when it comes to editing. It’s nice when you find out it isn’t all bad after all.
That’s always the way with advice, conflicting opinions. Just go with what you feel is best.
Claire, I did have a good time. But it’s so good to be home. :0)
Conflicting opinions…that’s also why books get both one star and five star reviews. So, you’re right, the author has to decided what’s best.
We went to nyc a couple years ago and amazed at how friendly every one was. Glad you had a great time. Good job with the editing.
Thanks, Robin. I wish I could have edited more, but wishing for more time doesn’t make it so. LOL
Glad to hear that your trip went mostly well and that the people up yonder were friendly. (I talk to a lot of people in my job, and there’s no doubt that those in the northeast are the most demanding and have the least amount of patience. Stop and smell the roses, folks!) I’m sorry to hear about your migraine. They really suck, don’t they? I had a couple of horrible ones this week. Hope you trip back went smoothly. 🙂
Michelle, I do agree that the customers in the northeast are usually more demanding, etc. when you talk to them on the phone. I’ve had that same experience. The friendliest seem to be from the south or from California. But my experience this week was different. It may have something to do with what group I was with. They were all rose growers. :0)
Oh that’s funny! I just pulled the ‘stop and smell the roses’ line out of a hat. I guess your group was the kind who would stop and smell the roses–frequently!!!
