After all the problems with my laptop, I’m now only two words behind on my goal. Two words! You would think I would have thought of just two more words to write. LOL.
In other news…I’m reading a book where the writing is so awful, I can’t believe I’m still reading it. The thing is, the story is interesting enough to make me want to know what’s happening next. I keep wondering if I’m EVER going to finish this! Ugh. I actually downloaded a sample and it wasn’t bad. But the writing just kept getting worse. I can’t wait to start on something else so I can purge my mind of this book. I’m usually very easy to please, so if I don’t like it, most people won’t. It even switched from 1st person to 3rd person a few chapters into the book, which felt very strange. I know now how I can torture “The Pink Hammer”. Make her read this book. Hahahahahaha,
3 words: to be continued
Ha ha, Arlene. If I had been at the end of a chapter, I could have put “Chapter Four” for next time. LOL
Torture Pink Hammer? That’s cold.
I wouldn’t really do that. I LOVE The Pink Hammer. :0)
I think I read the book you’re referring to. 😦 But congrats on meeting the goal sans two words.
Hi Gabrielle. You may have read this one. I’m so easy to please on books, especially for an author. But this one…yikes!
When you said it switched from first person to third, I felt a little relieved, since I never write first person…
@Arlene, LOL. Perfect.
Amy, I’m writing in first person for the first time in my WIP and I found myself switching to third person a couple of times and I went “whoops!”. But this book started out in first person and completely switched to third.
LOL about being relieved. You’re one of my favorite authors now that I’ve read Silver Thaw. I’m planning on reading Ravenmarked soon.
You have reached the secret headquarters of the Pink Hammer. I’m sorry I cannot take your call as I am currently engaged in saving the world by incessantly running my yap through my fingertips. However, your call is important. Please leave detailed information regarding the terrible book you’re reading so that I can get right on that when I get back.

[strangely, I think we’ve been disconnected]
Hahahahahahahahaha, Susan! (You know I wouldn’t really torture you.)
Am I the only one who breaks into a cold sweat whenever anyone says they’re reading an awful book? 😀
LOL @ two words behind. I’m so freaking anal, I’d have to go back and type any two words just to break even.
No, Claire, not just you. I also get really freaked out when someone tells me they’re reading my book, especially if it’s someone I know.
(but I know LL’s not reading my book because she already read mine so whew!)
That makes me want to throw up, I can’t handle it at all. I also can’t be in the same room as someone who is reading something I’ve written – even if it’s just a blog post. 😀
Claire, no–I do exactly the same thing! That’s why I was relieved when she said it started in first person. Phew. I never write first person–it can’t be my book she’s reading. 🙂
Why are we doing this to ourselves! LOL.
Okay, guys, you can all breathe easy. This book isn’t by anyone I know. LOL
*Deep, cleansing breath*
Thanks for setting our minds at ease. 🙂 And thanks again for the compliment about Silver Thaw. I remember now that you said you’d read it… I have four kids. Memory loss comes with the territory. 😉
Amy
I think you can spot yourself those two words. Don’t they do that in golf? Goal reached, as far as I’m concerned. And, the book sounds dreadful. You’ve more patience than I?
Hey, Ben, good idea. I can spot myself those words. LOL. I’m not worried too much about it. Sometimes I even take a day off and then catch up.
The reason I’m continuing to read the book is because I’m trying to figure out where she’s going with it. :0)
Two words behind? Awesome possum! So…why are you reading this book? Was it out of curiosity to read something else in your genre?
MIchelle, I don’t remember why I had the sample of this book. I don’t know if I saw the author’s name mentioned on someone’s blog or if there was a guest post…I just don’t remember. The sample was okay, so I was surprised when it started going downhill after I bought it. It was simply bad writing.
Btw, I finished it this morning. The ending was…unsatisfying.
Only two words behind, that is actually an awesome accomplishment. I admire your ability to stay with a book that is that bad. When you said the POV switched, are you talking abour different POV’s for different chapters? Quite a few of the legal thrillers that I read from some of the best authors alternate between more than one POV character and likewise between 1st and third. I just reread Innocent by Scott Turrow and some of the chapters are told from the protagonist POV and in first person and some of the chapters are from differenct characters POV’s in third person. Is this what you are talking about? I am confused.
Thank you.
When I’m talking about switching POV, I didn’t mean the way you are saying. I just read a book by Michael Connelly that switches like that on purpose. No, this one started out from the point of view of one of the characters, then changed to completely third person the rest of the book. But, really, that was the least of the problems of this book.
I messed up in the website fied.
