My name is Lauralynn Elliott, and it’s been 11 days since my last check-in….
I can’t believe I’ve missed that many check-ins! Well, two, I guess. I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by all the stuff on my plate right now, and when that happens, the blog is the first thing to be neglected. I need to do better.
Things are actually going pretty well. I finished the novella I’m doing with the other pen name. I’m going to be in another anthology with that pen name, and I have a mystery started that I decided to do under that pen name. I haven’t started the next book under Lauralynn, but I think I know the story I’m going to do. I have two more ideas for Lauralynn, but I don’t know how much I’m going to get done this year. We’ll see. For an actual goal, I only have one Lauralynn book planned, but I’ve been more productive this year, so you just never know. 🙂
I know that feeling of being overwhelmed and sometimes we just have to step away and focus on the most important things. Sounds like you’re writing goals are going strong. All the best in the coming week.
Thanks, Bev! I’m trying. I know better than to spread myself too thin, so I’m working on the things I know I need to do first.
I’m in awe of how much writing projects you do. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, Emma!
Busy week can be hard. Rough weeks are difficult. And then if the two combine, it’s down right hard to be motivated. Been riding the beginning of a rough week myself, hang ion there, okay?
I hope your have better week. ~sending good vibes~
Thanks, Cindy! I’m trying to stay calm. Lots of stuff going on both in the writing world and the day job.
Sometimes life gets overbooked. But you’re doing so much cool stuff! Hurray for the anthology and the novella and the stories coming up. That’s all great stuff!
Thanks, Kim! Things are getting exciting!
Yep, sometimes life gets overbooked. But you have so much great stuff going on! Hurray for the novella and anthology and the stories happening. That’s great stuff!
Oops, I think we have a duplicate comment. *giggle*
Social media and emails are what gets neglected when I’m overwhelmed. 🙂 I usually stick to my blog to help organize everything I need to do and figure out what order to do them in. This year, my goal is to get a book out each month until June. I used the pre-orders to help with this, so I wasn’t constantly writing. In this situation, it was nice to do the pre-orders, but it didn’t impact sales in any meaningful way. I don’t know if it’s true, but I suspect it’s the big name authors who will do the best with these pre-orders…but then they are already doing great anyway so… I don’t know. I’m probably an oddball because I didn’t see the pre-order as being a very productive thing except to get books ready and uploaded in advance.
I’m on Facebook all day at work, and check it between doing my job. I also keep my email up.
I’ve had other authors say that pre-orders didn’t really help them that much. I don’t like them as a reader because I get a charge on my credit card when the book comes out and I’ve forgotten that I pre-ordered, so I wonder what that charge is. LOL
I have a friend who uses pre-orders to make herself get the book done. I don’t work that well under pressure, so I’m afraid it would have the opposite effect on me. What I’ve done this last month is about the most pressure I can handle. 😉
