I’ll try to be brief. I’m playing catch up at work, and sales tax reports are due. We have to do them for five different states.
Anyway, hubby got to come home yesterday. They sent a prescription for Coumadin. I don’t know why they didn’t send one for pain killers. He’s been on one of the strongest pain killers, Dilaudid. Now he has nothing, not even hydrocodone. But he’s managing pretty good. He has to have his blood tested every three days at his regular doctor’s office. I guess that means paying a co-pay every three days for who knows how long. I wonder if they would give us a frequent buyer discount??? But I need to stop complaining about any of that. He’s home, and he’s better. We are truly blessed. The doctor said he had been a VERY sick man.
One day, in the hospital, hubby said, “I miss my puppy.” When he got home, they were both glad to see each other. Just in 10 days, Duke had grown so much. My son and his fiancee fixed him a run so that he wouldn’t get tangled up so much. (He did have a stake in the ground with a really long cable that kept getting tangled.) So Duke is glad we’re home. Our other dog and both cats are REALLY glad I’m home. And, oh how nice it is to sleep in my own bed. I’m at work right now, but I’m going home for lunch to check on hubby. His phone is by his side so he can call my mom or my son if he needs them. They are about a minute’s drive away. This will be a long, long process of healing. There’s a union where my husband works, so there’s probably no chance he’ll lose his job (I think that’s illegal anyway). I hope he can return to work in a couple of months, but it might be longer.
Sorry, I did say I would be brief. Oops.
Home is where the heart is and so happy to hear that your husband is back with you, still praying and hope all goes smoothly with a swift and complete recovery too!
Thanks! I’m glad to have him home!
I’m glad to hear that he’s home. If he has a good doctor and he’s in a lot of pain still, his PCP should be willing to discuss pain meds with him. I’m surprised that they neglected to address that at the hospital before sending him home, though. Keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers!
Thanks, Bri. I know his doctor will give him pain meds if he needs them. I think he’s trying to grin and bear it, but he’ll probably need something to sleep better when he’s in pain. The nurse told him they would give him a pain prescription, but they didn’t. He should have said something when they gave him the papers, but maybe he just wanted to try it without meds.
Oh, gotcha! I’m glad to hear that he has a doctor that will take care of him. 🙂
That’s all really positive! He’s on the mend and that’s the important thing.
Yes, Kait, and I’m so glad to have him home. And I need to stop freaking out with every time he draws in a sharp breath or moans a bit. He’s still in pain, that that will probably last awhile. A lung clot is very painful in most cases. I’m starting to watch him sometimes when he’s sleeping to make sure he’s breathing. I did that with my youngest son until he was about 13, although he was completely healthy. That’s weird, isn’t it?
So glad to hear he is home Lauralynn. He will be much more comfortable too and that may help his recovery move along a bit quicker.
Thanks, Renee. That’s probably true about helping his recovery by being home. You know, and not getting awakened every couple of hours by the nurse wanting to take his vital signs.
So glad to hear he’s home! Remember to take care of yourself so you can take care of him.
Thanks, J.R. I’ve been neglecting my exercise and better eating habits, but I’m going to get right back on track. If I end up getting sick, I don’t know what we’d do.
Hope the two of you get to relax a little at home this weekend.
I hope so, too. I need to mow the yard, but it’s too wet. Too bad. Lol
So glad to hear you’re back home. Sorry there’s still a long way to go, but leaving the hospital is a great step.
It’s really nice to be home. He’s still in pain, but it’s not nearly as bad as it was.
Healing is always better at home (and cheaper too). Glad to hear he’s home.
Being home is so great. I just wish his pain would go away. But it’s a lot better. He’s reading right this minute all the stuff they did to him, and they had given him SO much morphine in the emergency room. Now he’s down to no pain medicine, although I think he needs something when he’s trying to sleep. He’ll probably ask his regular doctor Monday.
So glad he’s doing well. Still keeping you in our thoughts. 🙂
Thank you, Juli!
Hey Lauralynn, great news about your husband! YAY! Keeping him and you in our prayers and thoughts.
Thank you so much, Wulfie!
So glad to hear he is home, Lauralynn! The healing road is long but I know he will bear it so much better in his own house with you and the pups and kitties by his side. Keeping you in my thoughts.
Thanks, Jessica. It’s good to be home.
Yay! I am so glad your husband is on the mend! Continuing with the prayers for his FULL recovery. Wishing you both many warm blessings.
Thank you so much, Deborah!
That’s scary to think of how sick he was. Glad he’s on the mend!
He’s much better. But there is a little problem. His blood isn’t thinning like it should on the blood thinner. The dr. keeps upping his dosage. It’s scary to think the clot in his leg could get bigger or break off and cause another lung clot. I read somewhere that thinner people take longer to get their blood thinned. I don’t know why.
