Did the world end? Did I miss it? LOL
This has been a frustrating round because of so many factors. I’ve done no writing since my dad’s illness and death. Then I found out I have diabetes which turns out CAN’T be controlled with oral medication, so I’m taking insulin shots. I feel like my life is a mess right now. So I put my writing on hold until next round. I didn’t get too far on my latest WIP, which I was struggling with anyway. I didn’t get Soul of a Vampire published in print. But, hopefully, I’ll get everything worked out so next round will be a success for me.
Some random things just for fun:
1. We solved the cat and Christmas tree issue by buying some really cheap ornaments to put on the tree, and leaving the good ornaments packed away. I put little jingle bells on the bottom branches. The cats are having a ball. (I hope they are old enough next year to behave so we can have “real” ornaments again.)
2. Exercise can bring your blood sugar down a LOT.
3. My boss set us up an account with a vendor, and for my password, he used “writer”. π
4. My cat, Oz, has a big nose. (Okay, I’m running out of fun facts.)
I hope everyone is having a great holiday season!
Depends on what type of diabeties you have: type 1 has to use insulin injections and type 2 can be controlled with meds, but sometimes may need an insulin injection as well. But the biggest factors are diet and exercise. I’m not a doctor of cousre (but I did stay at a Holiday Inn π ). All that matters is that it works for you.
Happy Holidays, LL, I hope things turn around in your direction for the new year.
Chris, I’m way too old to be diagnosed with type 1, since that kind of diabetes usually is diagnosed during childhood or early adulthood. I have type 2, but it isn’t responding to meds. my grandmother had to take shots and so does my mom. With just meds, my blood sugar was still staying in the 300’s. With insulin, it’s now in the 100’s. Exercise is SO important. I can’t believe the difference when checking right before and right after exercise.
Thanks, I hope things get better. It’s not just me. It’s been a horrible holiday season for several people I know. It’s like it’s jinxed this year. Maybe 2013 will be better.
Best wishes for a happy holiday season, Lauralynn! My kids have been surprisingly careful with the Christmas tree. Two balls have broken, and one was just a brush-by accident. As long as the trees are still standing a few days from now, it’s all gravy. π
Thanks, J.R.! I’m determined to make the best of the season even with all the things that have been happening around me and to me.
My husband was laughing at the tree. I said, “You can tell the ornaments are cheap, can’t you?” He said, “Yes, it looks terrible.” Then we both laughed. It was a small sacrifice, though, to let the cats have their fun.
That’s lovely about the password. Hope you enjoy the holidays with you family and friends.
Hi, Emma. Using that password made me think maybe my boss takes my writing seriously. π
Thanks, I hope you have a great holiday season, too.
Merry Christmas to you and your family!
Thanks, Michelle! I hope you had a wonderful Christmas!
I’m sorry to hear you have to take insulin shots. Will exercise mean you have to take less shots?
With everything that’s been going on, I’d be surprised if you could write anything.
That was a good idea with the cats, and it’s awesome that your boss used “writer” as a password. π
Hope you had a good Christmas!
I have no one to blame but myself for the shape I’m in, Ruth. I know it’s heredity, but with proper diet and exercise the chances are that this would never have happened. But I’m taking charge of my life. I only take one shot a day, but if I exercise regularly, I might be able to cut down on the dose. It’s not likely that I’ll ever be off insulin, but it COULD happen.
At least I know now why I didn’t have the energy to write or do anything else. Fatigue is a very common symptom of diabetes. My A1C came back showing I’ve had high blood sugar for at least three months. I went back to the doctor this morning and he is VERY pleased with my numbers.
Christmas was…different…this year. There were a lot of factors involved, including the fact I didn’t get to see my two sons at the same time. One worked days and the other worked nights on both Christmas Eve and Christmas. Everything seemed so rushed this year. But you know, I’m so blessed in so many ways. So, yeah, Christmas was good. :0)
