Just a quick update before church this morning.
It’s been another week of no writing and no exercise. I’m letting things get in the way, but I’ve also been very fatigued lately. I’m actually showing several symptoms of diabetes, which is a disease that runs rampant through my family. And being 50 lbs overweight may have pushed me in that direction.
So here’s the plan. I’m going to start my exercise routine back on Monday, and when people want me to do something else, I’m just going to have to tell them I have other plans. Exercise can lower my blood pressure, reverse the possible creep toward diabetes, and make me feel better overall. Yes, I know I need to see my doctor. But first, I’m going to let my mom test my blood sugar with her meter to see if I need to go.
As far as writing goes, if I get back to exercising, I’ll feel better and will have enough energy to write instead of planting my butt on the couch. š
Good luck with the exercise. Hope you are doing okay.x
Thanks, Emma. I’ll keep everyone posted. š
It’s hard, especially this time of year when there are holiday parties and family obligations and all kinds of stuff that take us out of the normal routine. I made my grand post last week about “I’m gonna do x,y,z!” and then…mostly didn’t.
But we can do it!
This is definitely a hard time of year, and especially after my dad’s passing. There’s a lot of crap going on about that, but it’s not between family members, thankfully. That stress, plus the stress of worrying about my health, AND the party stuff….whew! But you’re right. We CAN do it.
Lauralynn, it isn’t surprising that you’re not chasing down the goals at the moment. You just had a major loss. If I were you, I wouldn’t be pressuring myself to do much writing. Take care of yourself, surround yourself with family and friends, exercise because that will make you feel better all around. You’ll get there.
You know, J.R., I keep thinking I should be able to get back on track. But you’re right…it WAS a major loss, and I shouldn’t be back to normal yet. I think the exercise is the most important thing to focus on right now. I need to stay as healthy as possible.
I agree with J.R. Exercise is part of taking care of yourself; other than taking care of yourself in all the ways you need to, let the rest come. Be kind to yourself–you deserve it. (hug)
Thank you, Elizabeth. If I take care of myself, the writing will come. Exercise first!
Good luck Lauralynn. Hang in there and I hope the results are excellent and you feel much better soon.
Thanks, Cate. I’m going to start taking better care of myself. Things lapsed when my dad was sick and I was constantly at the hospital. It’s time to get back on the exercise!
I understand why you let the exercise and writing go. Your father just passed away. Something like that will throw everything out of balance for a while. I also understand your reasons for wanting to go back to those two things. I think testing your blood sugar on your mom’s meter is a smart move. I would do the same thing before considering whether to go to a doctor or not. Good luck on the exercise!
Ruth, I do feel kind of out of balance. I did start the exercise back yesterday. š
Good luck to you in your daily pursuits. Just keep putting one foot in front of the other and you’ll reach your destination. Take care
Thanks, Chris. Wise words.
