I can’t tell you how much I love the story of Beauty and the Beast in all its different forms. It’s my favorite animated Disney movie. I loved the original story. And I was crazy about the series starring Ron Perlman and Linda Hamilton.
A few months ago, I started a short story with a similar theme, and I was going to offer it for free on Smashwords. Somehow I got sidetracked. But, when I was at Disney World, I saw a musical show based on the Disney version. And I cried, as usual. Seeing this renewed my love of this story, so maybe I’ll get back to the short story I started. It will have to wait until I at least get caught up on my WIP, but it’ll be there waiting for me when I’m ready. 🙂
What fairy tale inspires you to write?
I don’t know about inspiring me to write, but I totally woke up with Under The Sea in my head this morning. I totally don’t remember Sebastian in my dreams but apparently he was hiding somewhere…
LOL, Kait. Love those Disney movies. 🙂
Love Beauty and the Beast! I’m not sure I have a favorite Fairy Tale though there have certainly been times when I’ve thought about working a story around one. I hope you get around to your retelling of Beauty and the Beast 🙂
Hi, Raelyn. I think fairy tales are an excellent way to get inspired. I really hope I can finish the story. There’s definitely a different twist on the beast in this one. 😉
I literally reminded my OH yesterday that we have to get Beauty and the Beast for the kids to watch. He said – for them, or for you? 😀
Blog looks cool btw.
Hi, Claire! I saw it on Amazon and will probably get it. My kids are grown, so I have no excuse. LOL
Thanks, my cover artist, Anya, did my header. 🙂
I love Beauty and the Beast! One of my favorites. I love all fairy tales so I can’t really choose just one. Sleeping Beauty was always a favorite too.
And speaking of my cover artist…here you are! 🙂
I love fairy tales, too, but I’ve always especially liked stories where the heroine looks deeper than the outward appearance. I think that may be why my male main character in Haunted Lake is scarred (but otherwise handsome, of course,LOL).
Oooh, I’m like you! Beauty and the Beast is my favorite. I’ve never done a more upfront fairy tale retelling, but Beauty and the Beast definitely figures into my stories and romances.
Annalise, there’s just something about that story…something deep and touching.
Beauty and the Beast is my favorite too! I just made my husband get it for the kids – that and Little Mermaid. They like them because I’ll actually sit down and watch them with them. I’m awful, though, I keep singing along and they want me to shut up. Apparently, I’m no Angela Lansbury. 🙂
Hi, Stacey. It amazes me how many people love Beauty and the Beast. I was blown away by the musical I saw at Disney.
I’m laughing my head off about the Angela Lansbury comment.
The Beauty and the Beast show at Hollywood Studios? They do such a great job with that; I love it. Briar got mad and said they left out her favorite part: the scene with the wolves. Which is, admittedly, one of my favorite parts of the movie.
Hi, Susan. Yes, it was the one at Hollywood, and the acting and music was fantastic. I wish they could have done the whole movie, but it would have been too long. So I guess I’ll just buy the DVD to see it all. 🙂
