I arrived at the Nashville airport early for my trip to Chicago, so I stopped at a restaurant called Tootsie’s in the airport. I was blown away by the live music playing there. There was this band of VERY young guys called The Boyle Brothers. They were so good at such a young age that it actually brought tears to my eyes. Great harmony! I ended up buying two of their CDs, one for me and one for a friend. The CD is good, but these guys are so much better live. It may just be the whole experience of seeing them while listening, but they are just awesome.
I’m sure these guys are indie musicians. I don’t know where they got their CDs made or anything, but there’s no record label on the CD. I was thinking, the whole time I was listening to them, that indies need to help each other whether it’s books, music, or whatever. That’s why I bought two CD’s. ๐
There is nothing better than good local talent and indie people. I love some of the local bands around the Indy area and try to get out and see them as much as possible.
These guys were so awesome! And so young. I can’t believe their harmony is that good at that age. i wish I had stayed longer at the restaurant, but I felt funny staying after I had already paid the check. But you could still hear them a little bit from the gate where I was waiting on my flight.
What kind of music? I agree that all artists need to stick together and support one another!
Tiffany, their music is mild, kind of folksy. They do “Amie” by the Pure Prairie League, although you’re probably too young to remember that. LOL. They did one song that my son said was a Keith Urban song (I wouldn’t know since I don’t listen to country music). There are some songs that they wrote. They basically just have a couple of acoustic guitars and four wonderful, harmonizing voices. They’re pretty mellow. I’m not usually a big fan of that kind of music unless I’m in the mood where I need to be soothed, but these guys were great. They sound better in person than on their CD in my opinion.
Totally agree with supporting indies in every form. There are sooooo many awesome Irish indie bands struggling to catch a break. If they’re too similar to another band that’s out there, they have to go it alone. I don’t care about recording companies or big names, I like what I like.
I have bought CDs in the past by people like Lionel Neykov, and now I only use iTunes to buy indie songs. YouTube has been an eye-opener for me. ๐
And wow, they’re only babies really!
I’ve been listening to the Boyle Brothers on YouTube today. :0) It was so funny to see them 1-2 years ago when the youngest one was so much smaller. I saw them do a Jackson 5 song with the youngest one doing the Michael Jackson part. It was too cool!
