I’m still about 2000 words behind, but I got in a little more than my 500 last night. I figure if I write a little more than my 500 goal words each day, I’ll eventually catch up. LOL That is if I DON’T skip any more days!
On the bright side, I finally used my birthday and Christmas money and got a Wii and a Wii Fit board. I had a lot of fun playing with it last night before I wrote. I’ve found if I do some exercise before I write, my mind is much more alert. Btw…what does it say about me that I seem to be best at boxing and sword fighting???
In a normal week I box every day. π My favorite is Gold’s Gym Cardio Workout, which is a total boxing training regimen (does not require the balance board).
This one was on the sports game, so it didn’t use the balance board either. I couldn’t believe how much of a workout boxing was. And I totally knocked my opponent out multiple times. It was a blast.
Sounds like a plan. Just keep writing. And maybe not think about word count for a few days and just do the writing? Maybe thinking about making the word count is blocking the writing some? Just create!
Glad you are enjoying your Wii. Maybe you can use some of those fighting skills to write fight scenes?
Good luck!
I’m trying not to worry about word count too much, but i also need to work toward a goal. I have to start writing a little more than 500 words to catch up. The story is going to get more into the horror part soon, and that’s going to be hard for me to write. I’ve never written scenes that contained more than a few characters at a time, so this is going to be a real challenge.
Yeah, I can use my sword yielding skills…take that ye olde garden gnome! LOL
I know that exercise is absent from my days (except for the walking), and I didn’t think I’d actually miss the gym, but when I hurt my back and couldn’t go, I’ve been itching to do so!
I have a problem with skipping days, too. I allow other things to crowd in. Over the weekend (through Monday, which was a school holiday), I had grandkids here. I couldn’t write while they were here. We don’t get to spend as much time together as I’d like (at least not with the older of the two, who is almost fourteen), so I focused on going places and watching movies with them.
Maybe I’ll do better in the next few days!
Here’s my ROW 80 POST
Grandkids always have to come first! I can’t wait to have some one day.
I don’t miss the gym, but I miss exercising in general. The Wii makes it so much fun. I can’t believe how cool it is!
I hope your back gets better!
pent up violence, anger, frustration, worry that now has a constructive outlet?
Not really. I don’t have pent up anger and frustration. Maybe I just have a violent streak I didn’t know about. LOL
Ah, yes, exercising can DEFINITELY wake up the mind for more productive writing. I’ve found that, too! And I’m pretty sure the fact that you’re best at boxing and sword fighting just means you’re a badass. ;D
Good luck with your word count!
Me? A badass? I kind of like the sound of that. LOL
Thanks, Claire.
Love the Wii, especially boxing! I must dig ours out again, it was a lot of fun.
You’ll do fine with the word count – I’m sure. Maybe the boxing will help rev you up when you’re feeling like a day off. π
Isn’t it great? Any kind of exercise seems to make my mind more alert. Must be those endorphins. π
Let the fight scenes begin! Will we see a more violent vampire in the next book?
Glad you’re getting your inspiration and having some fun. Maybe it will scare Jim into leaving your computer alone and you can write more.
Good luck!
LOL, Jon. The next book is about a garden gnome. I just wish they hadn’t come out with that Gnomeo and Juliet movie while I was writing the book. Someone will think I got the idea from there. :0) But my garden gnome is evil!
Wii Sword fighting. Now that’s an awesome research excuse! Happy writing!
Not a real good excuse since there’s no sword fighting in my book. LOL. There will be fighting though!
Sword-fighting??!!! I don’t remember that in my Wii Fit. I like ski jumping and heading soccer balls but I don’t know if they helped or hurt my writing. LOL Good going. You’ll catch up just fine, I’m sure.
Claire, the sword fighting is either in the sports or sports resort games, which came with the console. I think my very favorite Wii game is the one on Wii Fit where you have to do those Kung Fu moves.
Anything that gets my heart rate up seems to get my mind thinking more clearly. So the Wii is good for mind and body. π
All that action and endorphins have to be good for writing π I sure can’t wait to git me some endorphins again. My sinus cold from hades has kept me out of the gym for the last 10 days. I’m just getting my heart rate up lately with writing some action scenes. LOL.
Michelle, I’m just glad to get back into exercise again. And this is such a fun way. I still can’t do the bicycling game yet because it’s too strenuous (you would have to see it to understand), but there are some really fun games on there. You don’t feel like exercise is a chore.
I sure hope you start feeling better soon!
The best at boxing and sword fighting? Sounds like there’s an action adventure story waiting to burst out!
If the fighting was real, I would be cowering in a corner saying, “Please don’t hit me!” LOL
Thanks! I took a big wheatgrass shot today (gag…cough). I hope that will give those cold germs a 1-2 punch! We have a Wii fit board, but I just haven’t gotten into the whole virtual thing yet. I’m frequently nagged to try the yoga, but I’m thinking there may be some poses that I don’t want to do with the ‘peanut gallery’ watching and commenting! Maybe, I need to try boxing and sword fighting…
When I first set up my profile for Wii Fit, I made my husband go away so he wouldn’t see my weight. LOL. I really don’t mind him watching as long as I’m not doing anything too stupid. He did make a remark while I was doing the Hula Hoop game. “Be careful, you might break something.” π
That’s funny. I was tricked into the stats, but couldn’t make too much fuss about it around my kidling. My husband is the KING of sarcasm. He really wouldn’t even need to say something. It would just be the smirk on his face. Needless to say, I really don’t like him reading/editing my writing either. It’s that horrible smirk…
The worst for me is the boxing, I can’t do it for some reason. Hmm! I’ll have to try the sword fighting. I quite doing wii fit for a while and need to get back to it.
I love it! I like the rhythm boxing on Wii Fit better than the one where you fight someone on Wii Sports. I’m just glad to be getting back to exercise.
