Hey there! It’s meeeeee! Surprised? I know, I’ve been kind of quiet lately. Honestly, I know everyone would get tired of hearing “Edited for a client. Did no writing.” And that’s about all I could say.
So…Saturday, I spent several hours formatting a print book for a friend. I thought maybe after I got up and grabbed a bite, I could sit down and write a little bit. I couldn’t see the words! Everything was a blur. I guess I’d just sat in front of the screen too long. That happens to me at work sometimes. Anyway, that meant no writing on the weekend. Then… I decided to take a steno pad and a pen to lunch at a local restaurant right down the road. Just a little family restaurant where the atmosphere is relaxed. I started writing. And writing. And writing. It was awesome! I usually don’t write with pen and paper because my hands just can’t do it. But for that little hour, I was able to get some words down. I ended up writing about six pages. I won’t know how many words until I type it, but I was really into the story. So yay!
Yeah for you!!
I always do a first draft with pen and paper. I don’t know why, I just find it easier. Plus I don’t have all the red underlines of improper spelling and grammatical errors staring back at me.
But again, yeah you!
Thanks, Chris!
I just can’t write that way all the time. My hands give me a lot of trouble, even typing. So writing can really hurt some days. But, true, there aren’t those annoying red lines. LOL.
Sending you a huge congrats, Lauralynn. I rarely write longhand anymore either because my hand cramps up, LOL, but sometimes it helps to go back to basics. I had a productive Sunday with a little over 3600 words on my WIP, but that was on a PC. The idea of writing in an area restaurant or coffee shop takes me back to the days of meeting with my friends from writing groups. Cheering you on and giving you high-fives on your progress!
Thanks, Mae! I just finished typing up what I wrote, and it ended up being 825 words. That’s not too shabby for an hour of handwriting, especially since I was eating at the same time. 🙂
Go you for 3600 words! You’re kicking butt!
Sounds like we were both highly productive. YAY!
I’ve had my eyes blur like that, too. One time I didn’t pay attention to it, and I ended up having to stay away from computers for a month. Lesson learned on that one.
I hate writing by hand anymore. Not only is it extremely annoying since it’s slower than how fast I type, but it hurts my hand.
I’m glad you got some writing in. Often the hardest part is getting those words going. Once they do, the rest just takes over. 🙂
I need to keep that in mind so I don’t push too hard with my eyes. (Okay, that was an interesting mental picture, LOL)
I wrote again by hand today. I only do it when I don’t have my laptop.
I love the idea of taking myself to a cafe and spending time writing with an actual pen!
It’s kind of cool, actually. 🙂
