Thanks to THIS post by Jess Witkins, I ended up signing up for Stitch Fix. You can click on the link and go to their site to learn more about it, but basically, you receive a box of five items, you try them on, decide what to keep and what to send back. There are no shipping costs, and they send you a bag with the return label already affixed for what you send back. Anyway, I got my first box today. Here’s a picture of what I didn’t like. The shirt was too tailored and not feminine enough for me, plus it was really tight through the chest. And the earrings were bleh.
This next shirt is one I kind of wanted to keep. If the jeans hadn’t been SO expensive I probably would have. But the shirt was a little too big, anyway, and if I lose more weight, it won’t look good at all.
This next shirt, AND the jeans, were definitely keepers. The shirt fit perfectly and was so soft, I almost couldn’t feel the sleeves on my arms. And my husband really liked it, too, which surprised me. I didn’t think he would. And these jeans felt amazing. They’re a little long, but I can live with that, and they otherwise fit like a glove. These are the most expensive jeans I’ve ever owned. I gasped at the price. Then I kept them anyway. That’s how much I loved them.
So, anyway, if you ever decide to start doing this, I would so appreciate it if you would use my referral link here: Lauralynn’s Referral Link. I get $25 off a “Fix” the first time someone signs up through my link and buys something from HER fix. I used the link for Jess (not directly, but I got that fixed…long story). These aren’t cheap clothes. I could only afford two things this time. But they are high quality pieces. And you can choose how often you get a Fix. Once a month, every two months, or you can tell them when you want your next one each time.
All in all, even though I was disappointed in how expensive the clothes were, I was very pleased. I still wish I could have kept that other blouse. But maybe in the next Fix, I won’t buy something as expensive as those jeans and will be able to get three or four pieces. I can’t wait until October!
One more thing…I don’t buy clothes that often, but Stitch Fix is a reward for some good habits I’m establishing and daily things I’m doing. I deserve this reward. 🙂
Lauralynn I love it! I’m so happy you had fun and found 2 pieces you can treat yo’ self with! I love that top, the color is really great on you. Glad hubby thought so too. Yes, the most expensive jeans I’ve ever purchased were thru here too, but they feel like buttah! My next fix is in October too which is going to be my birthday present to me! Yay for rewards! 😄
It was so much fun. I agree about how the jeans feel. 🙂 And that shirt! I hated I couldn’t keep the other one, but the consolation was that it was a little too big, and I’m still losing weight. The jeans and the shirt I kept were snug enough to last awhile, I think.
This sounds like a really cool concept…and potentially dangerous, lol! You got some pretty good picks out of it, it looks like, and I suppose, statistically, two is probably a good measure of “fixes” you’d want to keep, which might keep it a little more reasonable. So, so tempted, but…I’ll be good.
…for now.
I didn’t sign up the first time one of my friends mentioned it, but I was ready for it when the second friend did it. The good thing is, I don’t have to get Fixes on a regular basis, so I can choose when i receive them. I’ll probably never again spend what I did on those jeans, but I wore them the next day, and they felt so good! The texture of the cloth is totally different than my other jeans. Really soft. I did tell my stylist I would like to see more feminine stuff next time, especially blouses, since I’m a girly girl. LOL. I love to pair jeans with frilly, lacy blouses.
I love the first shirt you’re in. That’s kind of my style. I like to be relaxed and in comfortable clothes, but that shirt also has personality.
I wish I could have kept it all except for the earrings and the pink shirt. That first shirt actually had a cami with it, although it wasn’t listed, so I guess it was considered part of it (the shirt was too thin to wear without one). I’m hoping the more the stylist works with me, the more she’ll get my style. She didn’t really go by my profile as closely as I was hoping, but she still picked out some things I liked. The website says the more you give feedback on each piece, the more the stylist will get what you like. I wish it wasn’t so expensive, so I could afford it more often.
I can only imagine how expensive it is. I grew up on secondhand clothes and coats. There’s that small part of me that screams out there’s no way I can spend more than $20 for something to wear. lol
But I do love the clothes you picked. Very cool! 🙂
I won’t buy any more jeans that cost that much. These are good quality, so they’ll last awhile, at least until they get too big (and I won’t complain about THAT).After I’ve had to scrimp the past year, I thought I deserved a little something. Plus, I give myself rewards for checking off habits every day. It’s helped keep me doing things I used to put off. I firmly believe in the reward system. I had enough points for the reward. LOL
Oh, I agree with you on rewarding yourself. I do that, too. My choices of a reward are more with eating out, which is wasteful when you think about it. At least with clothes, you get to wear it over and over.
Why I get squeamish with clothes and not eating out, I don’t know. I’d be better off splurging on clothes.
Eating out isn’t as big a splurge for me because I do it a couple of times a week at least. When you only have two to feed, sometimes it’s just as cheap to go out than buy groceries, depending on what you get. With your big family, it’s different. I love eating out. 🙂
