Since I was in Vegas for a conference last week, there was no way I could make my weekly time goal for writing and proofreading. While I was there, I did work on two line editing jobs I have. And I took Virginia Nelson’s sprinting class twice while I was there, so I got a little work done on my WIP. I actually took her class at Buildin’ the Dream, too, so I’ve done it three times. Such a great class!
I got home Monday night and got no sleep, so I didn’t work on anything last night, either, since I was so sleepy. Tonight is Wednesday, my usual day off from doing any work, but I might make an exception to make up for Monday and Tuesday. Maybe I can get my goals met that way.
How are ya’ll doing?
Man, I have got to get me to some of these conferences some day. Every time you post about one, I’m just dying with envy (and social anxiety at the idea, but whatever). Good luck on the post-con recovery!
I probably won’t go back to this one. I don’t get enough value out of the money I spend to get there. I’m not saying there’s no value in this conference, I’m just saying it costs too much for the registration and the flight since it’s so far away. I’m going to concentrate on the smaller, closer ones for awhile, so I can drive instead of fly.
I’ve only been to one conference. I enjoyed it, but it was also overwhelming!
It’s completely understandable that something has to give with travel and conference stuff. š
I’ve been to this one twice, but I’m looking forward to finding some others I want to go to. I hope I can get back on track this week.
Something i plan to look into for 2015. Smaller more local ones sound just my speed! =)
I know a couple of authors close by, so I’m going to ask them about cons close by.
That sounds like a perfect plan! =)
Did you find it easier to do the sprinting class this time since it wasn’t your first?
I’m finding the longer time goes after taking the class, I’m starting to slip back into my old habits of self-editing as I type. Old habits are so hard to break.
I hope you are able to get back into the routine soon. It’s hard when you come back from a conference to get right back into the swing of things.
Actually, the sprinting class did get easier. I took it twice, two days in a row. š I still had trouble with backspacing. I got better the second class, but I had to laugh at some of my words.
I was only able to work on my book in those classes, but it helped me get some done. I skipped the costume ball so I could get some proofreading done. š (I didn’t have a costume anyway.)
It is tough to get goals done while away at a conference, but it sounds like you did pretty darn well considering. I’m always playing catch up these days. Heck, I’m just getting to Wednesday updates. Crazy!
A lot of the time, conferences have so much packed into them, it’s hard to do anything once you return to your room. That’s why i skipped the costume ball one night to do some proofreading.
