Last week was so much better on the writing front. My goal is to write three days a week. Well, I was lazy Friday, so I did some things I wanted to do instead of actually, you know, WORKING. But, even though I only wrote two days, I churned out 3,822 words. If I was averaging 500 words a day, seven days a week…it would be better than that. LOL. I wrote about 2900 words on Saturday. I just sat down and words started flowing. I was by myself, there was silence, and I was in the mood. It’s really hard for me to write that many words in one sitting, but I did it. š
My WIP is evolving into something totally different than I originally planned. It was going to be a paranormal romance, but it looks like it’s going to be a mystery/horror. I started out with a ghost. Then I suddenly had a “not quite human” murderer. So I had to figure out how the ghost was relevant now. But I finally figured that out. Now there’s a mine. There wasn’t originally a plan for a mine to be in this story, but it really helps explain some other things in the story. This story is starting to write itself and surprise me at every turn. That’s usually when I start loving it. š
Sounds like you had a great week!! Glad things are lining up nicely with the wip. That’s always a good thing. Have a great week š
LOL, I JUST finished commenting on your blog. š
I’m happy with my week. I hope it’s even better this week. I hope you have a great week, too.!
Well done, Lauralynn! It’s a great feeling when a story seems to come alive and take you in a different direction, isn’t it?
Hi Kevin! Yes, I love it when a story does that. I love the direction YOUR stories take, too. š
You know that you’re onto a good story when it starts taking over. Great news on the word count as well! š
Thanks, Sandy. The characters also have a mind of their own.
Yeah, that’s when I get excited during a story as well. It feels like I’m just along for the ride as well. Glad the enthusiasm is back.
The story sometimes just tells itself.
I’m excited to read it!
There’s nothing better than when the story takes over and all you have to do is write what’s going on. š I’m glad you got your writing spark back!
I do love that feeling! š
Okay, your story sounds like a lot of fun to write! Honestly, no matter how much planning I do, I always get hijacked by the story. People die, others do strange and interesting things. I usually don’t have much control. (sometimes, I do go back and edit if I’m not happy, though.)
Hi, Kate. I wondered if other authors had this happen, where the story just goes off on its own, and you’re just along for the ride. This is usually when the story starts getting better.
You are doing so great and I’m loving the way the story is sounding. Definitely sounds like something I would like to read.
I’m back in with ROW80 after being MIA for a while. Hopefully, I’ll stick with it this time. I have good intentions anyway. =O)
There is definitely more going on in this story than I originally planned. But that’s a good thing. š
Welcome back! ROW80 is a great way to get support when you need it. All the ROW80ers that I’ve “met” have been really nice people.
That sounds like one fascinating story! And congrats on the wordcounts. Those were two highly productive days.
(And thank you for the welcome to ROW80…)
Thanks, I hope the story ends up fascinating. š
I’m glad you joined us. I hope you find us all friendly and willing to help.
