As of last night, I was 6522 words ahead of my cumulative goal. I feel like my story is slowing down a bit, but I think it will pick back up.
Also, one of the goals I didn’t state at the beginning is that I’m working to get my novel, Haunted Lake, in print. I’m in the process of proofreading it one last time. I have it printed out in the format in which it will go to CreateSpace, so I’ll be able to see any formatting errors, too. I’m over halfway through that read. And, I’ll have to say, I’m really enjoying reading it. I think it’s still my favorite of all the books I’ve written.
How’s everyone else?
Brilliant news that you are ahead of your word count and by so much! Hope the next week goes well for you.
Thanks, Em! I hope I can keep it up. :0)
That word count is a great place to be when you feel the story slowing. Gives you time to think 🙂
Way to go with your goals!
Thanks, Wosushi! I love having that cushion in case I do need to do some thinking about it. And it always gives me time to work on proofing the book I’m getting ready for print.
Nice! Seems like there’s always a new challenge to wrap our heads around.
Can’t wait to read the second Libby Fox. 🙂
Hi J.R. I think it’s good to always have challenges ahead of us. It keeps us working.
Of course, you’ll be one of the first to read it. 😉
Wow, Lauralynn, you’re doing so well! And it’s fun to think about having a favorite story in print.
I hope you have a great week!
Thanks, Nancy. Things have changed so much since I used a vanity press on my first novel. I spent about $450 getting that book published! And then, although it’s a fairly short novel, they charged $19.99 plus shipping for the book! No wonder it doesn’t sell. Things have changed since ebooks have come around. I almost didn’t decide to do print for any more of my books, but even though most of the money will be made on the ebooks, it’s always such a great feeling to hold your book in your hand. And it costs practically nothing to do it these days. 🙂
Ahead of your word goal? You are Rocking It!
Thank you, Amber!
Good for you being ahead of your wordcount 😀 And great news about Haunted Lake – Theres something extra persnal when you read your own story and forget that it’s yours because you’re enjoying it so much lol – Good luck with the edits will you use the same cover art or will you put together something new for the prit version?
Thanks, Sandy!
I’m going to use the same cover art because the “ghostly” couple on the front looks just like I pictured the ghosts in the story, especially since they are from another era. The only thing that might change that is if the color doesn’t come off right in the print version.
Wow on that progress ahead of schedule! Keep up the good work!
Thanks, Ruth! I hope I can keep it up. 🙂
Sounds like you’re doing well, Lauralynn! And yay on that word count — you’ve accomplished a lot this week. 😀
Thanks for your support, Jamila!
It’s a great feeling to be able to get caught up in something you’ve written. I don’t have any complete stories that do that to me, but I have excerpts that do. Then I feel frustrated cause the good part didn’t last long enough, and I have to kick myself to go add some more or revise the part following it to become just as awesome.
This story intrigued me even when I was writing it. This was one that made me feel like I was on the outside looking in as my characters did whatever they wanted to do. I think it’s my best one, although not everyone agrees. I know a couple of people who like Starfane better, but Haunted Lake is kind of my baby. 🙂
WOO HOO! Excellent progress 🙂 That’s so fantastic how much you’ve written! Way to go!
Marie
Thank you so much, Marie!
