I’ve been very disappointed in my books sales on Amazon. I thought there would be a sudden rush of sales because of new Kindles. Sales are still trickling. Although, last year, when I first got my Kindle, I downloaded the Stephen King book I wanted and didn’t download anything else until I was finished with it. So I’m still hoping the rush will come.
On the other hand, sales of my new book, Guardian Vampire, are doing well on Barnes and Noble. I’m selling about four times more of that particular book on B & N than on Amazon. And, so far, I’m still averaging a 5 star rating. Yay! I finally got into the 4 digit numbers there. I got into the three digits numbers with Club Blood last summer on Amazon, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed with Guardian Vampire…if not on Amazon, then on B & N. :0)
Well the way I see it there has been an awful lot of advertisements out there for the Nook for Christmas, especially for the new Nook Color. So maybe that’s why your B&N sales have been better.
However, those that already have a Kindle may have just been too busy over the holidays and once that is all over with maybe they will have time to settle down and download more books to read while they are snowed in. š
Loved Guardian Vampire! Can’t wait until Haunted Lake is finished!
Who knows? I’ve never been able to figure out why book sales are better here than there, or now than then, etc.
I need to get Haunted Lake edited soon. I really enjoyed writing that one. I hope I don’t go back to edit it and think “What? Did I really think this was good?” LOL
i’m so glad! i know the rush will come.
I’d be curious to know what the differences are in customer loyalties to Kindle vs. Nook like there are to Coke vs. Pepsi. What kind of customer gravitates towards each?
I also think that it’s too early for a rush of sales. Everyone is still traveling, organizing, working, etc. They’ll have more time to download books and read when they have some leisure time. Summer 2011 should be really good for sales when people are dusting off that e-reader they got for Christmas and are finally trying it out. Of course, one of my New Year resolutions is to be more optimistic š
I do know that some people are angry at Amazon for their recent censorship and have decided they want a different ereader. And the Nook has been heavily advertised lately. Some people may prefer the Nook Color. Who knows? I did notice last night that sales of Guardian Vampire on Amazon have picked up a little, and have now surpassed the sales of my other books, even though GV has only been out since Dec. 14. I personally feel like it’s my strongest book so far.
Another odd thing I’ve noticed is that my book sales have picked up in the UK in December. In fact, Club Blood sales in the UK are only about 10 books behind the US sales. I don’t know what triggered the sudden burst of UK sales.
