After stressing about having to spend the night at a lock in for the teenagers at church, and not being able to write that day, I actually caught up to my word count goal. It only took me two days to get back to where I’m supposed to be. Whew, that’s a load off my back. Now if I can only make sure I write every day from here on out. Since I’ve been writing more per day than I absolutely have to, maybe it will take some pressure off when we get to the end of NaNo. I hope I can stay ahead, just in case life gets in the way again. Anyway, I’m happy so far, both with word count and story. But there’s 23 more days to go….

Way to go, Lauralynn! Keep plugging away and you’ll be a winner at the end!
This sick is kicking my butt. And I should have been locked in with a bunch of teens to get inspired, although at this point it seems to be a matter of BICHOK and I’ve just been sleeping.
Something to think about for Nano next year: I should clean my office. So I can go lock myself in there when other people are home.
I still have a bunch of errands to do from last week that are going to suck up some time today, but I also caught up on house cleaning over the weekend.
I’m pretty clear what happens in this scene, and in the next, and I know how I’m setting up the following scene and what it’s about. In theory that’s a few thousand words worth of material sitting there in my head. I just need to sit down and let them come out.
And stop reading reviews and letting the good reviews give me performance anxiety.
/babble. Goal: Catch up to you. Soonish.
i knew you could do it!
Thanks, Anya! The good thing about NaNo is that I can be a winner and a bunch of other people can be, too.
Susan, I’m sorry you feel so bad. Actually, being with a bunch of teens probably would be better for someone who writes YA. LOL. As far as locking yourself in your office…I was supposed to get a computer desk from my oldest son since he bought himself a new one. But we keep putting off going to get it (he lives about an hour away). If I had it, I could lock myself up in the room with the desk. And now my husband has started going in to work an hour later, which messed up my routine of starting to write at 10:00, sitting in his recliner. So I just started plopping myself on the couch, tuning out the TV, and just writing. It seems to be working.
The way I’m doing this is that each day I ponder on what the next chapter will be. I sort of have in my head what I want to write for that particular night. I usually write one chapter at a time.
Yes, please catch up. And kick my butt if you want to. Hahahahahaha.
Thanks, Arlene. You always have faith in me. And I know you’ll give me a swift kick if I slack off. LOL
